More affordable rolls than some other places in the area. I like how it's run by 2 guys (and occasionally one of their wives.) It's homey, cozy, and intimate. Cool art on the wall and great service. Rolls were good--we enjoyed the Buddhilicious ($17.99), Dragon ($16.99), and Lion King ($16.99). Would go back.

This was such a cute date night spot! The rolls and nigiri were so fresh and delicious. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a more lowkey vibe!

Solid, affordable spot for when you crave rolls. Sexy me roll is my favorite, very sexy. Everything was fresh and good. Nice and friendly service, clean bathroom, and casual ambiance. What else is there to ask for?

Excellent quality sushi. Very fresh selection. The staff was wonderful and this was a nice, cozy spot for dinner. Will be back!

Came here after doing the hot cold plunge nearby! Good: - Cute ambiance, and clean interior - The miso soup was incredibly tasty and seaweed salad was fresh too - The sushi rolls were tasty - I liked the dragon roll the best, the tempura was crunchy and the buddhilicious was good too! Not as good as dragon though - The amount of food you get for the cost is good. Bad: - Took a while for our sushi to get to us (20-30 min wait) so it felt a little long - The staff don't check in too often with us Overall it was a decent sushi experience, not sure that I'd come again.

As a sushi lover. I love going to this hidden gem. I usually order for starter the sashimi platter and move to nigiri yellow tail or albacore. Of course with ice cold Sapporo beer. Chef Buddi is like a family to me that I paid to visit his sushi restaurant whenever I visit San Francisco on a long weekend. I love supporting mom and pop business owners and I highly recommend this place.

Started out with miso soup very tasty not too long to come to table from ordering always a plus. Both rolls having been brought the table. They're excellent. They taste lovely and they remind me why I come to this place. I will tell you they are very good but they are also very much so if you come in hungry, don't be upset you have to wear one doing a really good jobeverybody has.

I had high expectations for this place after reading the reviews. Perhaps my expectations were too high. I found the quality of fish to be okay. The rolls were tasty but nothing amazing. Service was a little slow but the servers were very polite and attentive. The tuna tataki was delicious!

Truly a remarkable experience with such a welcoming family-like atmosphere. I first came here traveling on business. Then came back 3 days later. After a year away from the area I came back and it was like I never left. They even remembered. Then, the sushi. Whoa! What an amazing unique offering and not to mention such crazy taste adventure. So so so good!!! Service is absolutely above and beyond cannot recommend more!

I love love love this place!! The food is 10/10 every single time and all of the recommendations I have been given are now my go-tos. Definitely go if you're in the area or if you're not. To top it all off, the owners are helping you directly and are extremely pleasant, creating a very welcoming ambiance. Shoutout to the bluefin tuna nigiri and the Sexy Me roll

For our 6th wedding anniversary, we made the trip all the way from Sacramento to celebrate at our favorite sushi spot, Fishmandu--and it was absolutely worth it! Chef Buddhi went above and beyond, creating special sushi masterpieces just for us. Each roll was crafted with precision, bursting with fresh flavors, and beautifully presented. The menu is incredible, but the new creations are a must-try! Watching the torch-seared sushi being prepared added a whole new level of flavor and experience. Beyond the food, the team at Fishmandu is filled with genuinely great people who make every guest feel welcome. If you're in San Francisco--or even hours away like us--Fishmandu is worth the trip! Exceptional sushi, warm hospitality, and an unforgettable dining experience.

Decided to grab some takeout before the new years and have always walked by here. It is a cute neighborhood restaurant with ~6 tables inside. Everything was really good and when I went to pick up my food the music in the restaurant was great. Everything was well packaged and fresh!

They had a sign advertising a special where you can order two items from a list and it comes with soup, salad, and rice, but we ended up just splitting two house special rolls - the Salmon Mango roll and Rock N Roll roll (tuna, avocado, spicy mayo). Both were delicious. I particularly liked the Salmon Mango roll - it was a perfect mix of sweet and savory. The rolls came with 8 pieces each and each piece was a good size, so it was plenty for two of us. I also got a Sapporo beer (bottle) to sip on. Overall, good experience - quick, efficient service and satisfying meal.

The restaurant can be a little hidden, but it's pretty easy to find with the instructions they send before your reservation. It's located above Fermentation Lab. Just head up the stairs and you'll find it inside the old Ichi Pub space. The restaurant is small and intimate, with only 9 seats at the counter. When you arrive, walk through the Yuji curtain and check in directly with the chef since there is no host. My biggest concern with set menus is always whether I'll feel satisfied and full afterward, but that was definitely not an issue here. My husband and I were both very satisfied after the meal. Every dish was delicious, and you could really taste the quality of each ingredient. Highlights for me were the bluefin sashimi, which was so buttery and soft that it literally melted in your mouth. The skillfish was rich and decadent, and the citrus and ginger balanced the flavors. The fried fish was another favorite as it reminded me of the savory Japanese rice crackers I loved growing up. Since it's located in Japantown, parking can be challenging. We had to loop around several times looking for street parking and even had two cars take spots we were waiting for, so definitely give yourself extra time before your reservation. I would highly recommend this place! The chef changes the menu periodically based on what's in season, so it's a great excuse to come back and try something new in the future. I think expectations are usually low when going to these types of spots but given the quality and price, it's actually pretty surprising. I usually stop by for dinner on weeknights. It can get busy sometimes but I've never waited more than 10-15 minutes. Service is quick and friendly. The goal is to get you seated and taken care of right away. Once you sit down, it's game on. The location is unusual, as the restaurant is open to the mall, which is a bit disruptive. I came for the 8:30pm seating, but the previous guests were still finishing, so I had to wait until 8:45pm. The staff did not seem very concerned. Bad start. You could also hear the mall cleaning crew during dinner, which was not very pleasant. I ordered the 24-item Mizuho Menu, as did all the other guests. There were 5 guests in total (the restaurant can seat up to 8 people). Here is the menu I was served at the end of May: 1. starter: ama ebi cracker with caviar, pickled lotus root with shaved bonito, crab salad 2. nigiri 4x: isaki, iwana, myabi tai, kanpachi 3. sashimi: chutoro, hotate with caviar, umi masu, sawada 4. nigiri 8x: hirame, suzuki, inada, kurodai, shima aji, kamasu, otoro, aged A5 wagyu, kinmedai 5. hot dish: miso soup with inari and shrimp head, hokkaido uni with marinated ikura, black cod, umi masu with raw yellow egg and caviar 6. dessert: matcha ice cream with strawberry Frankly, the food was excellent. The starter was not very creative, but the nigiri were great. The sashimi selection was very nice, with some fish you do not see as often in omakase menus, such as isaki, iwana, and myabi tai, a kind of tai. Sawada was delicious and is always a good inclusion. We asked for some wasabi and received a small cup of kizami wasabi, a chopped wasabi with a slightly crunchy texture, which was a nice touch. For the nigiri, all the classics of a good omakase were present: otoro, kinmedai, shima aji, uni, hotate, and wagyu. Kamasu was also included, and it is one of my favorite fish. It is also worth noting that they age both their beef and their tuna, including the otoro that was served. A few pieces were torched, maybe a few too many. Overall, the service was not memorable, although chef Ron Au was friendly and nice. The place itself felt a bit questionable, and my expectations were not very high after the beginning of the meal.
