There are three different types of workouts all meant to achieve "lift, tone, and burn" during your class. Pure Barre Classic is a barre class that focuses on tiny movements. I love how low impact it is! It made it safe and easy to get back to regular workouts and I have seen many pregnant women able to handle the majority of the class. One of the instructors carried twins to full term and was doing Pure Barre nearly all the way to the end! That is how gentle it is on your body! Pure Empower is a cardio workout with a platform involved. It really gets my heart rate up and I get into the awesome music mixes they play. Pure Reform is a Pilates style class using resistance bands. It was really a game changer in improving my shoulder and arm tone, in particular. It is an excellent total body workout too. All the teachers are great! They each have something that is unique they bring to class. I never even consider what teacher is teaching I just take the class time or format I want because everyone is really fun. You can really tell they all love Pure Barre too. The studios were recently refreshed and the vibe is light and energizing. Each class finishes with a nice stretch and cool down that lets me have a few moments of zen "me time". There are challenges and monthly goals you can sign up for to keep you accountable. They have classes all day starting as early at 5:30am and as late as 6:30pm they recently added a second lunch hour class for those that take a later lunch. The workouts really feed on each other, so you are constantly improving which helps keep you motivated and interested in your workout. I wish I had found out about Pure Barre years ago but I am so glad it is in my life. Give them a try!

I chose Club Pilates as it's a reputable chain, they were brand-spanking new, and my bad ankle needed to work on balance. I figured it was an all-around win. Unfortunately for me, all that glitters isn't gold. Yes, the gym was pristine and the manager (or is she the owner?) Hannah is a sweetheart. Heck, all the trainers are sweethearts. Ditto with the front desk. I have no issue with their human capital. My issue stems from their app. To sign up for a class, you need to use their app, and depending on what time you select for class, the class may be already full. Yes, there's a waitlist, but the odds of getting off of it are hit or miss. Oh, and if you miss a class, you are charged for it either financially if you're a full-fledged member or you lose a class if you aren't. I understand the concept of being held accountable, but having to call to explain you're in the middle of a traffic jam isn't appealing to me. I suppose what it is is simply that I was spoiled by the gym I was a member of down in South Florida. To me it just wasn't working out, it was a family. I didn't experience the same at Club Pilates, and while that's not necessarily a bad thing, that along with the fact that I'm used to more intense exercise made me cancel my membership. Ultimately I was just okay with my experience there, and if I'm paying $199+ a month for that, well... I'm better off seeing what else is out there.

She gets 5/5 stars! I loved her playlist, the energy she brought to the class, and the overall representation of another African American woman in this predominantly white space was the extra push that I needed. Because of her enthusiasm and guidance, I'll be sticking around for a bit longer and will likely exclusively do the cardio sculpt classes unless I just want a really good stretch or slow day.

When I was first getting into working out, I was pretty intimidated by the idea of going to the gym. I didn't know where to start with weights and machines, it was all very confusing to me. Hotworx gave me the ability to walk into a sauna, have the room to myself where I could look silly or struggle in the comfort of my own space, and feel really proud of myself for getting in a tough workout. I recommend this place to every beginner that is nervous to start at a gym! Having been there a couple years now, the workouts STILL absolutely kick my butt and I leave feeling so proud of myself every time. This truly is an amazing workout for everybody!

I just received a phone from them stating that they "Received my information" and wanted to talk about me about joining. When I asked how they "received my information" they informed me I must have clicked an ad or social media post. I do not recall doing so, but its possible I clicked something. Regardless, clicking an ad should should not result in a phone call. I find this to be predatory marketing behavior. It immediately makes me not trust this business. I will say the person I spoke to was very nice and said they call people all the time who do not recall clicking an ad. They understood I was not interested and polite about it. Ultimately this person is just doing their job. Given that we live in a world where data is stolen, sold and people get inundated with spam calls I think its bad practice to use this type of marketing for a "local" business. It feels predatory and out of touch.

Whether you're a barre elite or just a newbie looking to get in shape while having a little fun,…read morethe Refinery will welcome you in with open arms and show you the ropes! The Refinery is a barre fitness studio that has created a process called BodyREmix: Release. Revive. Retain. to help you sculpt your body in the best and fastest way possible! Their Barre Original classes are one hour low impact workouts that still target the total body. Taking a strong influence from ballet, yoga, and pilates, barre is about performing small movements to strengthen muscles that you didn't know you had! Every strength segment is followed by a brief stretch to soothe your muscles and limit soreness. On my last visit, Sheryl Webster, the instructor and the business owner, took us through a tough but fun Barre Original workout set to some upbeat music that kept you pushing through the pain! I was so glad to see both seasoned barre athletes and rookies like myself out there! I thought I was at least mildly in shape before taking the class, but I was suffering from a special level of soreness that I didn't know was possible afterwards. I can certainly attest to how good of a workout barre is! You may become addicted, since they make it hard to go back to boring ole weight lifting! Seriously, give a barre class a try!

Driving to the studio, I started to feel butterflies in my gut because I wasn't sure I was going to catch onto the moves fast enough. But I wasn't going to let those butterflies get to me. I let my guard down and wanted to try something new!! Pulling into the parking lot, I liked how there was private parking in the front of the studio. I suggest backing into the parking spot because it would be easier to get out after class. (I personally didn't this time - but next time I will) Walking into the studio, the kick-ass vibe was immediately felt. I was greeted with a warm welcome, brief outline of what to expect, where stuff is and how everything runs. The atmosphere was pretty cool... blue neon lighting, flashing lights, music thumping and positive attitudes from everyone! The class was represented accurately. Simple dance moves with high energy cardio. Once you start forgetting about how the steps are done and get into the beats of the music, the dancing becomes second-hand movements. My motto was to have fun! And that is exactly what I did. I loved it! I recommend Drip Drop Fitness Studio because it is fun and something new! Bye Bye 2018, H-E-L-L-O 2019!
