Fit Factory is not a bad gym at all. They used to be more affordable pre-Covid but since then, they have upped the price of membership. It gets very crowded here; most of the people who work out here tend to be high schoolers and college students. It's hard to find an area in the gym that isn't already occupied by others. They have plenty of machines though available to use and pretty big gym. Lots of parking available, as well, and staff is nice & helpful for the most part. Personal training is offered here and fitness classes. I think that even though the price of their memberships have doubled, getting a membership here is still a good bargain. Their VIP membership allows access to multiple of their locations, bring a guest everyday for free, unlimited cycle classes + studio, sauna, + more perks... all for $34.99/month. read more

Beware of security policies at this location. I had an unfortunate incident this weekend (4/9.2023) in Braintree, MA. I was at the gym from 9.45 until 11. I got back to my locker and it had been broken into. The locker I had chosen had no lock on it and was empty when I put my things in and locked it. The person at the counter said that several people complained about locks being placed on their lockers. The staff seemingly gave that person a lock cutter. No male employees was around so no one verified the situation before or after the locks were cut. No note was left on my locker door explaining what happened. I don't believe they took the name of the person either. All around this was badly managed and communicated. This is not a safe situation in my mind, and clearly they do not have a security policy in place. read more

The gym has recently brought in new brand new equipment but has also increased their membership costs at a 100% increase. However, that is not the cause of my one star review. As with every gym, there will always be locker room theft and issues. With the wave of college students returning for break. I had my pants and hoodie in a locker room during peak hours and I guess someone assumed that did not warrant the use of a entire locker and decided to throw everything I had out of that locker and proceeded to take that locker which I find disgusting. This was during peak hours so lockers were scarce. Previously, I felt safe leaving clothing or other small items in a locker unlocked but after this accident I will be locking my locker from now on. *PSA: Use remember to use a lock on your locker or else someone may come in and mess with your stuff* read more

Terrible. I've been a loyal member for years. The cancelation process was an absolute nightmare I'm still dealing with. I cancelled months ago and still continue to get charged: I was told my membership would be cancelled immediately based on the prior months inconvenience and I would be refunded. I was never refunded and continued to get charged. I spent two weeks calling the gym numerous times and every time I was told the manager was "in a meeting" and never got a call back; I finally spoke to him and was told I would get a email that they needed to check the call logs. I was finally emailed and was told they wouldn't refund me based on the fact I was given the appropriate information to cancel my own membership. (This so call email doesn't exist and I never got it) this has wasted way too much of my time. Customer service is terrible. I own my own facility and I would never recommend this gym to anyone as an alternative like I have MANY times in the past. I believe in keeping your clients happy and creating positive relationships with your clientele. I will never return to this gym and will never recommend it. No wonder it has a ton of 1 star reviews. Their response was OK we can cancel after 30 days but we will not refund the Annual charge. I truly love going to this gym. For the most part the instructors and coaches are engaging and encouraging. The sauna is awesome and I always feel like I get a good work out in. My only large complaint is that this gym likes to play songs with the word "nigger" in them. A friend and I complained about it once and the song choices started excluded songs with this word. However, the playlist in classes have begun including song choices with this word again. I personally find it offensive and demeaning, though I know many folks think it's fine. The racial tensions in this country seem to be heightened more than ever. It would be nice to be a member of a gym where I feel as though my race is being respected through all avenues. I decided to make this place my home gym around March and have loved it. Equipment wise it has everything you need. There are free weights, different exercise machines, and tons of cardio machines. There is also a CrossFit gym on the bottom floor. I currently have the VIP membership, but it's comforting knowing that I can expand where I want to take my fitness level through CrossFit classes and even the group classes offered in my VIP membership. I also have the opportunity to bring in one guest and have done so several times. One thing you should know is that guest can't utilize any of the fitness classes since they don't have a membership. Evenings can be pretty crowded so I'd suggest going in the mornings if you decide to sign up here. read more

Joined the gym on April 21, 2019 as a VIP member and been getting the shaft since. Wanting to take my health and fitness seriously - I also joined the Personal Training Program. I regret this now. Salesman was super nice and all smiles. I expressed to him that I wanted to start billing near the end of May, but instead I was billed for April. I first became aware of this when the same salesman called to let me know that the charge did not go through. So, I took time out of my day to go back down to the gym to express what I had thought we had discussed. The salesman apologized for the confusion and said that he would waive the fee and that billing would begin at the end of May, and to take the three scheduled classes which would be "on him". Moments ago, I am billed $490. This is especially devastating since, as we know, rent is due at the beginning of the month. So, now I have to take more time out of my day to go down to the gym to confront the salesman. That all said, I understand I am the one over a barrel since I signed the paperwork. I understand that I will need to go through the painful process of cancellation, and probably pay more by the time this is all said and done. My guess is I will be reminded of the argeement I signed up for and the 30 day cancellation notice from reading the other reviews on here. This is super frustrating because all I wanted to do was to work on my health and fitness and now I am distracted by all of this. I would highly recommend staying clear of the personal training program, if not the entire gym itself. I get that the business of gyms can be difficult with people coming and going, but Fit Factory practices predatory behavior and then hides behind the legalese. I've been coming here for years and generally have had a good experience but as of late the staff has gotten lackadaisical when it comes to some of the people that come in complying with cleanliness. I understand that they want to keep business afloat but I constantly see this one guy in his late 20s walking around like king sh*t of turd island with his mask around his chin. He wears shirts almost daily that you couldn't even call shirts with his nipples flying around like it's some sort of club. We get it pal you lift, you're at the gym stop puffing your chest out and taking mirror selfie's you're a grown man. And stop farting I know it's you. I'm sure the gym deals with people like this guy all the time but if you see the man with nipple shirt and storm trooper hat on with his wristbands tell him to put his mask on and be considerate of others. read more

I'll give the gym an extra star because it's nice inside and has what I think most people need. However, like most gyms unfortunately, it's not kind to you on fees. You have a joiners fee, as well as any early termination fee, both of which are well over one months membership. At a month membership of 30, I believe the joiners fee was 50, and the termination fee was 80. (That's nearly 4 months of membership). To tip the iceberg if your notice is not within 30 days, you pay for an additional month. I don't recommend unless you are aware that you will be going for at least a year and if you are on top of your dates because I am quite certain the next year begins without notice, and also includes an annual fee. Update 1: A member at the gym test positive for Covid19 on 10/10, FitFactory notified members on 10/18 and will remain open. Completely absurd!! Money over safety. Let me start by saying that every gym has weights. It is the people there that matter. I spoke with Mike O'Brien today, the manager there. After which I felt pathetic that just a day ago I was happy to have a membership there. Here's the whole story, I am moving back to New York for 2 months before I move back to Boston to start my new lease with a couple of friends. I notified a staff at the front desk, in person, a week ago about my situation. She told me that a manager would call to followup on this. I received a call the following day from the gym and was told that It was the gym's policy that cancellations have to be done in person. I would have to go in again to cancel my membership. I was only slightly annoyed by this but I didn't think too much about it since I go there frequently. The following day I went in person to have my membership cancelled. They told me because of their existing policies, I would have to pay for another month of membership fees . I didn't want to fight that even though I wouldn't be able to use the gym and they understood that. Then they said that on top of another month's fee, I would also have to pay $59.99 for the Annual Rate Lock-In that was due next month. This was absurd! I had to pay a fee that locks my membership rate in for the year when I was cancelling my fee. I asked the manager how this makes any sense. He said you signed up online and it is within the fine-prints of the contract. He said perhaps if I signed up in-store I wouldn't have had this problem. That actually really funny because I went in initially to signup but they had a system outage and they told me to do it online. I thought why not make my my life easier and their lives easier. Guess I was only setting myself up because when they were giving me a run down they said there was no commitment and it was a month to month membership. I tried to explain to him that this doesn't make sense and that I wouldn't need my rate locked in for a year if I am leaving the gym. He said he can't do anything because the process of charging my card is already in motion and I signed a contract online. He offered for me not to cancel my membership and keep it until I return. At that point I was done with that gym. Take the money and let me out! It's a shame because I work in the payment processing industry with a specialization PCI DSS standards. I am completely aware of what is possible and what isn't. It was clear to me that they aren't willing to extend a courtesy to me because of the situation I was in. They were completely ready to take advantage of the payments they scheduled. I had intentions of returning to this gym when I returned to the area but it looks like I will be looking for a gym that actually cares about their members and aren't just running a business with nuances within contracts. I take Korinne's barre class and new spin class! She's an amazingly, attentive instructor and really knows how to get a class engaged. She takes the time to make sure you're getting the most out of any class you take with her. I always walk out of her classes burning 100s of calories by focusing on different muscles for a full body workout. I would recommend her classes to everyone! read more

Awesome gym! The basic membership is the same price as Planet Fitness, but you get so much more at Fit Factory. Free weight area is spacious (even during peak hours), 5 squat racks, tons of weighted machines and cardio equipment, turf area, and several areas for stretching. Front desk and trainers are always friendly and there's always parking available. My only complaints are the women's locker room and that members often don't re-rack weights around the squat rack area. Even though the women's locker room is large and generally clean, there aren't enough lockers and more often than not the trash can is overflowing onto the floor. There have been a few days where I've noticed that the trash was not emptied from the day before. Also some pyloboxes and Bosu balls would be great! read more

I have, or should I say was a member at FitFactory for about 3 years. I loved the layout of the gym, I always found it clean and well maintained, and I especially loved the GroupFit classes. There are some awesome teachers I have had the privilege to work out with and get to know over the years. I sadly cancelled my membership last week. Not because I wanted to, because FitFactory made a clerical mistake with my billing. They didn't seem to care how much this messed up my week, and offered nothing but a simple and half-hearted apology to make up for it. My account has been frozen since March due to the gym being closed due to COVID-19. I got a call last week saying their 3rd party billing company accidentally charged me for June, and that $79.98 would be deducted from my account. They said they reversed the payment, but it would take a week to come back to my account. I have had reduced income since March due to the pandemic, and this unexpected expense due to a foolish mistake has overdrawn my checking account at a time where every penny matters. My membership is $29.99 but it just so happened, my yearly fee of $49.99 just so happened to be hitting in June. So thanks FitFactory, your stupid mistake has caused me to not be able to spend ANY money on basic living expenses for the next 2 days until I get paid again. What you should have done is waive my yearly fee, and maybe I wouldn't have canceled my membership on the spot. I was REALLY looking forward to getting back to the gym.. I used to go at least 4x a week. The phone call I received on Friday made it blatantly clear that you don't care about your members or the financial hardships that a lot of us are facing right now. The name of this gym was what led me to the high expectations from the beginning. When you hear "factory" you expect everything that you would possibly need in one area. But this gym offers "a little bit of everything" instead. Basically they offer only the basic equipment needed for every group muscle. They also offer many other group workouts, PT, cross fit & babysitting (which I don't use) Oh and the best thing about this gym? The Healthy Blend. Their staff are always super friendly & helpful, especially the owner. I think this gym does have a lot of things to improve on, and i think that they will get to it once they make more money of course. They do have a lot of potential Don't expect it to be like Gold's gym and then this place won't disappoint you like it did for me. Just joined this club after a fairly exhausting search. So far it is the staff that has been the most outstanding feature for me. Everyone has been both courteous and attentive. Special note about the training staff, they are very professional and very willing to listen to input about what you like to do or do not like doing for training. Since moving to Quincy I have joined 5 gyms 4 years and i can happily say Fit Factory Braintree is where i have been for about 3 years, One of the first classes i took was Total Body Burn with Sarah C and I have been taking her classes ever since. Sarah is more than an instructor, she has a passion for what she does and this is evident in the way she teaches. She is constantly motivating and inspiring those who take her classes by encouraging us to use heavier weights, to try a more challenging version of a move, to hold a plank longer than we think we can, or to move quicker. Sarah also emphasizes form along with informing us which muscles we should be using for each move. Her personality and consistent energy keep me going, even when i think i can't. Her classes are challenging in the best way while she tries to keep us smiling. One of many goals Sarah has contributed to helping me achieve, without even knowing it, is my upper body strength. After getting tendinitis in my shoulders 8 years ago, i have put off working on my upper body due to pain. After learning that strengthening these muscles can actually help with the pain, i had been used to not working on my upper body so i continued to neglect it. After taking Sarah's classes i become motivated to not make excuses and push myself to strengthen arms and shoulders. I started off with 7lb weights and today i started using 15lb weights and increasing my barbell weight and due to my improved upper body strength i can now do a regular push-up (not many, but i am still working on it). The personal growth i am experiencing thanks so Sarah's genuineness and passion for helping and encouraging others is priceless and continues to motivate me to keep challenging myself. Also, go through and read how many other people have mentioned this very same issue! They, like most gyms, require a 30 day notice for cancellation. Sure, that can be standard with some gyms. However, they only allow you to have access to the paperwork, through a manager, which are not available outside set times. For someone like me that works long hours and could get there when a manager was on shift, it was a nightmare. The bigger concern is that they will hit you with a "Rate-lock-fee" which falls within the 30 day time frame, even if you are canceling your membership for the upcoming year. And the fee will of course fall at the end of your 12 year cycle, without notice. So a fee, that is specifically in place to lock in the rate you pay per month for a whole additional year, is applied to your account and billed to you at the time of your renewal.... for a membership you no longer have! And again, they send you NO notification that your renewal fee is even coming up, so that you will get stuck with the cost regardless. I wrote to the General Manager, David, and he did not answer any of my questions, but just recited the policy and offered to transfer the credit to a family member or friend. Why would I subject a family member or friend to the scam so they can get caught paying these down the road?! I also called and left him a message to speak and he never called me back. He was more than happy to send an email with every sentence ending in an explanation mark though, to drive home his condescending tone and lack of customer service. Says a lot about their lack of training of their employees if that is the general manager. I ended up requesting time off work to get there in time to cancel my membership with a manger last night and was forced to pay the last month and "lock-rate-fee" otherwise I would be continually billed every month with the lock rate fee regardless. so do yourself a favor and find another gym!!! There are plenty of competitors in the area and they will treat you with more respect and not have policies that take advantage of their members. The staff are very friendly and the people there workers or guests are great at wearing their masks! They have tons of sanitation available to make everything clean. Instead of explaining the 'fine print' of membership contracts, how about making the process less confusing and deliberately manipulative. Everyone knows gym memberships are a huge rip off, the contracts are designed to take full advantage of those who do sign. Hint: Any gym that doesn't allow you to join via a monthly membership is setting you up for unwanted charges. I love this gym. I am a member of the crossfit program and it's perfect for me! I picked the one class per week plan because it's affordable and I can go in and workout in the crossfit area whenever there isn't a class. The regular membership area is good too. I do wish it was a bit bigger though / more equipment for busy times. Pros: -Nice atmosphere and great coaches -way better than planet fitness -If you do the crossfit program, you have access to all classes and areas. You can bring a guest anytime. -smoothie bar is awesome, and not super over-priced. The staff is also really nice. Reasons I gave a 4 instead of a 5: -The crossfit programming isn't perfect - for example, heavy squats on Sunday and straight into a squat focused wod on Monday. Sometimes I'll follow the programming and my legs end up out of commission for a couple days. I think there should be more attention to resting certain muscles. -Lack of mirrors in crossfit room. I like to check my form but there is often someone in that spot already. -It gets wicked busy around 5-6pm. It's not terrible, but it will be difficult to get a squat rack! -get one of those kickback machines! I like those. Best gym in the area :) read more

Getting a divorce is easier and less time-consuming than trying to cancel the membership when you move. Other reviews that mention the conduct of the General Manager are ENTIRELY accurate. With David, the customer is always wrong, and an email chain fraught with more condescension and exclamation points than I've ever seen serves to evidence. The lack of professionalism was astounding, and the fact that he was actually wrong certainly didn't shake his ego. I tried to give my 30 days notice, but the front desk staff kept dropping the ball on communicating with the manager to send the form. When David finally reached out he blamed me. - He proceeded to search their call system for the number associated with my account to prove his staff hadn't screwed up. - Then he sent a recap of his search results, which included only a couple back to back calls from January where I noted my move was in process and I needed urgent assistance. Apparently this was not enough evidence for David to deduce that something was up, so he proceeded on his path of condescension and instructed me to comply and pay for months that were overdue. These shouldn't have even been charged in the first place because the cancellation should have gone through in November. David forgot that people frequently have home and office phone numbers as well as cell phones, and that since those can change over years of membership they may not be linked. Since the initial calls I placed weren't from the number on my account, he missed half the evidence before he blamed and shamed me. David finally acknowledged that maybe I had in fact called from a different number, but rather than take any initiative to help me end the madness, he asked me to send him any potential phone number permutations so that he might research further and "ensure the issue was handled appropriately." Seriously? I ended up paying the $25 at the advice of a GM of a different gym just to get the hell out of this nightmare. Moral of the story: stick with the bigger names. UPDATE: Appreciate the attempt to respond, Dennis. But the point here was that the entire interaction was unprofessional. The way a customer is left feeling after an experience with a brand representative matters. And it seems I'm not the only one who's had this experience with Fit Factory. I didn't provide a phone number for the call search. I didn't even know there was a call search. David took the information in my profile without my knowledge, and then he came at me with the results before considering that maybe I also had a work phone number, and his behind-the-scenes investigation to prove me wrong was incomplete and flawed at best, yet presented with righteous gusto. It's this conduct that isn't ok. I can provide additional phone numbers, and I can provide the email chain that captures all the detail, but neither of us can undo how David handled himself during the interaction, or what my experience was in the moment as a customer. That associated impact is the basis for the review. That I have to explain that tells me that it's a systemic problem. read more

Janelle, who works at the front desk some mornings, is always so helpful with tips and figuring out answers to all my questions. She has been wonderful! I've been a VIP Elite member at the Braintree location for about three months and I've taken advantage of all they have to offer, from the free fitness consultations when you sign up to awesome morning yoga class and other classes, to the FFIT trial classes as well. Everyone always greets me with a smile, even when I'm there at 5:30AM for my yoga class with Heather J. In addition, everything is always clean and well-maintained, and there is always space to do my floor workouts, even on Saturday mornings when everyone is at the gym. Hands down on of the best gyms I have been too. I currently live about 25 minutes from Fit Factory. I would drive there, because my only other options were Planet Fitness a low price gym that I originally belong too, or Lifetime. Which is way to over priced for me. As for a college student, Fit Factory has everything you need. At a low price. I had to cancel my membership because it was just too much. With work adding on another job I just didn't have time. They have a normal policy, just like every other gym. 30 day notice. You are responsible for what you owe within the 30 days. BUT still have access. Thought that was pretty fair. Looking at the other reviews, I was nervous, but it was made very clear when signing up. The staff here is unbelievable and always willing to help. Janelle and mike who work at the front desk are so personable and some of my favorite people I've ever met. Dave, the GM is always willing to work with your situation and go the extra mile for you. The trainers and group fit instructors really know how to push you, but build a relationship with you at the same time. Uninformed staff will end up costing you time and money- Best to avoid all together. I was a member for two years, then moved and no longer found the location convenient. When my contract ended the front desk staff told me I was all set and nothing further was needed of me to end my membership. The next month not only was I charged the monthly fee but also the annual maintenance fee. I spent hours working with the gym staff trying to explain what happened- but rather than listen to me they said I could not prove that I was misinformed by their staff and I would not be getting a refund. I even involved the Boston Better Business Bureau and I have still not gotten a refund for the money that was falsely taken. I shouldn't have had to lose money as a result of a misinformed staff member telling me incorrect information; and just because I do not have the name of the worker I spoke to originally Fit Factory management has deemed my case closed. The frustration of this situation is heightened by the fact that management has been completely unresponsive and unhelpful. Staff is uninformed, management is slow to return calls of inquiries, and it ruined my perception of the company as a whole. ***11/2/2018 Editing this review with my response to the below comment as I would prefer to keep it public: Dennis: thank you for looking into this, although I'm sorry it took a yelp review to get the attention of management. When my contract was coming to a close I did not remember the policy for ending the membership. That's when I reached out to your staff for clarity. I know the information you're telling me now is correct, but at the time when I asked, I was told by trained staff that there was nothing further needed from me, and my contract would be ending as I expected. I called in this situation, does that excuse the fact that someone who answered told me incorrect information I must financially suffer from? The gym has firm policies in place, but I don't think it's fair to hold customers to that when they are told the opposite information by trained staff. When I called initially to discuss this issue, I left a message and my call was never returned. I then called a second time and still could not get through. The third time I finally got in touch with the Braintree Manager, Dave L. We were in email communication for a few days regarding this. Dave is the employee who told me since I could not name the person who misinformed me, I would not get a refund. In the email I asked him connect me to his supervisor to discuss further as I felt I wasn't getting any assistance from him. My last email communication with Dave was 9/12/18. DO NOT JOIN. Also, go through and read how many other people have mentioned this very same issue! They, like most gyms, require a 30 day notice for cancellation. Sure, that can be standard with some gyms. However, they only allow you to have access to the paperwork, through a manager, which are not available outside set times. For someone like me that works long hours and could get there when a manager was on shift, it was a nightmare.  The bigger concern is that they will hit you with a "Rate-lock-fee" which falls within the 30 day time frame, even if you are canceling your membership for the upcoming year. And the fee will of course fall at the end of your 12 year cycle, without notice. So a fee, that is specifically in place to lock in the rate you pay per month for a whole additional year, is applied to your account and billed to you at the time of your renewal.... for a membership you no longer have!   And again, they send you NO notification that your renewal fee is even coming up, so that you will get stuck with the cost regardless.  I wrote to the General Manager, David, and he did not answer any of my questions, but just recited the policy and offered to transfer the credit to a family member or friend. Why would I subject a family member or friend to the scam so they can get caught paying these down the road?! I also called and left him a message to speak and he never called me back. He was more than happy to send an email with every sentence ending in an explanation mark though, to drive home his condescending tone and lack of customer service. Says a lot about their lack of training of their employees if that is the general manager.  I ended up requesting time off work to get there in time to cancel my membership with a manger last night and was forced to pay the last month and "lock-rate-fee" otherwise I would be continually billed every month with the lock rate fee regardless.  So do yourself a favor and find another gym!!! There are plenty of competitors in the area and they will treat you with more respect and not have policies that take advantage of their members. Or at the bare minimum, send you updates and notices through email on upcoming charges or changes in your account! Pretty basic stuff. read more

Just joined last week for the one month vip membership $19 (I got a coupon in the mail)....I chose this place over Planet fitness and Super fitness (Both in Quincy and closer to my home) since they advertised that they have a steam room and a separate sauna room. Which is what tilted my decision to choose this place. However... the steam room is not working and the person at the front desk wasn't even aware nor does it seem like there was any future to getting it fixed. I hope I am wrong because I was looking forward to it. I like this place, too... but I only use selective cardio equipment and never go during peak times. Place is clean. And I appreciate that but until they fix what they advertise to offer to their vip members.... (but by then my month membership might be over and is questionable if I'd officially join) Until then my review is dissatisfied to 3 stars. read more

My friend invited me to try his gym and it was my first time at the fitness club. I really enjoyed being here everything was well kept, it was clean and I was very excited there were user friendly equipment and even exercise bands. I will definitely come back! read more
