I love this hotel. Been a guest for over 20 years. The lobby has couches and a fireplace and the decor is welcoming. Free water and Hot apple cider in the lobby always. The hot breakfast is a great start to the mornings. The free s'mores by the fire pits in the evening is a fun way to end the evening. The rooftop pool is a relaxing hot tub that runs about 105 degrees and is open year around. I have always stayed in a lakeside room either walk out or with a deck. A room facing the waters of Lake Superior is the way to go. This hotel is right on the water and the lakewalk. They have free bikes to use in the spring/summer. This hotel is right in canal park with east walking to many restaurants/bars/activities and shops. The sunrises over the lake are special. The sunset turns the sky into corona candy. The night lights of Duluth are enchanting. I just love this place!

I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years. This is one of the older hotels on the canal but is the best place to stay. The hotel is very close to the canal and you can easily walk to see a big ship come in if you see one entering the harbor. Room are spacious. King room has a roomy sitting area. Last year I stayed in a room that was in view of the bridge. This room had a nice deck which provided a great place to do my business work! This year we stayed in the 2 Queen room. This room was on the ground floor with plenty of room for your bikes. Speaking of bikes. Make sure you bring them in your room at night or at least secure them well. We had attempted bike thefts on both our vehicles. Fortunately they were both locked and the thugs gave up. I discovered our bikes on the bike rack hanging by the locks. Pools. 2 nice ones. 1 indoor with a whirlpool and 1 on the roof. The roof pool is very shallow and more of an oversized whirlpool. Indoor is nice sized with plenty of space to sit around the pool. Hotel services. The hotel has some very nice common areas. A huge breakfast dining area which features a very good FREE continental breakfast. The area also doubles as a space to do family fun activities (cards, etc). At night they have supplies for smores and the bonfires are right outside the breakfast area. The hotel is right on the lake shore trail. Great place to stay.

Housekeeping is an afterthought and customer service is not a priority. They absolutely would not allow early check in as if they were sold out the previous night, however co-workers I was with sis their rooms were so dusty (including the bedding) it looked as if no one had stayed in theme for a while. You have to give 24 hours notice to request any housekeeping services. The front desk is often unattended and no one is about to go out of their way to help you with anything. My room no working bedside lamps, the AC unit front would not stay on. The room was dusty and the shower curtain orange/pink and black with mold. Not a place I'd want to return to.

    Moldy curtains.

Our family stayed in canal park for a wedding last weekend. We stayed here for 3 nights with 5 children ages 14-3. I was so surprised by the room for what we paid - $816 for 3 nights. There was mold on the white curtains, the air conditioner doesn't reach the first room so one room is hot and the other cool, the furniture was in bad shape, peeling wallpaper, a very stained coffee table, drawers held together by tape. We needed to use a set and we found out why they were taped together-they fall open! So we would walk into the drawer if we weren't paying attention. The breakfast was always empty- and we didn't go close to closing time. 3 waffles makers. Some scrambled eggs. An empty dried container for oatmeal. Dry cereal. And a juice machine that was empty. I was honestly so surprised at how it was! We paid so much for a good trip for a wedding and Mother's Day and i feel we way overpaid. Or perhaps we just paid for the location. The view and the patio were amazing! The rooftop pool was good, but full of old towels lying around. The indoor pool, hot tub and sauna were nice. Smores 8-10 is nice but go asap. Starting at 945 they'll put it all away. We didn't have much interaction with the staff. Some of them we felt like a complete bother but another man that was running the desk Saturday evening was kind.

Great location! Restaurants, shops, breweries and beautiful Lake Superior are steps away. The room itself was comfortable, the patio overlooking the lake was so great. The indoor pool, hot tub and sauna were well maintained. The heated rooftop pool was our favorite. Nightly s'mores were a hit as well as a well stocked breakfast which included the standard cold items as well as a few hot items. Overall everything was pretty great.

If I could give them a 0 I would. We made a reservation for 2 adjoining rooms 3 months ago. Confirmed this with the front desk when we got here early then went to go shopping till official check in. The rooms ended up not be adjoining or what we reserved, there is an unknown black residue in the showers of both bathrooms, and when our toilet overflowed, the manager said she would give ME a plunger to fix it. "Maintenance is gone for the day, we have no one that will come help right now." When the teal haired manager brought the plunger to our room, she left it outside the door without even a knock. I was able to get the toilet flowing again, after using most of the towels to clean up the water. We were then told that they would not promise they would have anyone from housekeeping to come clean the bathroom in the morning. This is absolutely obsurd customer service! I hope that management sees this and does some serious re-training of their employees.

The Inn is one of our go-to hotels to stay at when we come to Duluth. It's located in Canal Park on the lake. There are many amenities! The rooms are comfortable and clean. There is complimentary water and pop in the fridge. You can choose to swim in the main floor pool that also features a hot tub and sauna. Or you can swim in the heated roof top pool, folks actually use this in the winter, too! The breakfast is very good! They offer gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian options. I live to look out on the lake as I sip my coffee. At night you can cozy up by the fires outside and make s'mores, right on the lake. And being in Canal Park there are many shopping and dining options. The Inn is a great, family friendly choice to stay in Duluth.

Great location, right where most of the action is. The city itself isn't much to look at but the hotel is in a touristy area near shopping, restaurants, and the lake. The pool is heated and they also have a sauna. Our kids loved the pool. The room itself wasn't anything fancy. It looked clean, except for the top of the microwave door-it had a few weeks worth of dust. There was also lipstick still on one of the mugs in the room, too. Otherwise, clean bathroom, carpets weren't sticky or felt dirty. Their usual breakfast room is closed until further notice so there was no hot breakfast. Cereal, milk, juice, apples, muffins, and instant oatmeal were available until 10:30 AM. They offered coffee and hot water with tea and hot chocolate mix throughout the day. Apple cider during the evening. I didn't see or hear about s'mores but that could just be due to the season (it was very chilly). There was also an electric/pipe sound in our room that went off every 15 minutes. It sounded someone in a neighboring room was turning on the water jets for their tub. We got used to it though. Otherwise, great service. Quick and easy checkout. Good experience. Will stay again.

The Inn on Lake Superior was a great hotel for a weekend getaway. Located right in canal park there was plenty of places to eat, drink, and entertainment within walking distance. The hotel itself has a rooftop pool, indoor pool, huge complimentary breakfast, and every night they cover s'mores to cook over the outdoor fire. They also offer free bike rentals to guests. The rooms overlooking Lake Superior have a beautiful view and the private porch was a great way to relax to the sound of the waves. I would definitely stay here again and It was a fantastic deal for the price.

We stay here annually during the winter time for bentlyville and LOVE IT!!! They put up beautiful decorations and it just feels festive! The rooms are a good size. They do s'mores at night which is so much fun and right on the lake! They also have the roof top pool which is nice and warm and open during the winter :) The free breakfast in the morning is average but has lots of options to pick from. The staff is always friendly and quick! Book this hotel through there site to get the best price. Also, skip checking in at 3, it can get really busy and take awhile to get through. It's our home away from home and we will continue to book this place :)

They have their own private parking lot and it's right in the heart of the downtown area and its backyard is the beautiful Lake Superior. I greatly appreciated the water station so I could stay hydrated during my stay here which is located in the lobby. Our room was on the 3rd floor (#336) facing the parking lot vs the other side of the building all have balconies and face Lake Superior. It's also less expensive facing the parking lot vs the lake. The next morning was so foggy that you couldn't even see the lake at all. The pool area was very nice with huge vaulted ceilings and a nice sized hot tub. Please note that the button for the hot tub timer is right next to the emergency button which aren't labeled well. They even have towels to use. We noticed that other families just left their discarded wet towels around on loungers vs throwing them in the laundry bin. In regards to our specific hotel room, the water spigot in the bathroom sprays very abruptly y and makes a mess so be aware of that. The bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash are great but it literally hurts your hands to squeeze them to get the stuff out. Plus the bottles are ribbed so it's not nice on the hands. Stay: July 27-31 2026…read more I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at The Suites Hotel at Waterfront Plaza in Duluth was disappointing from beginning to end. I stayed from July 27 through July 31. The first three nights were for a work conference, and I booked an additional night at my own expense because my family planned to visit the University of Minnesota Duluth with our son. Check-in went smoothly, and we arrived around 3:30 p.m. While housekeeping was still cleaning nearby rooms, ours initially looked fine. However, when we pulled out the sofa bed, we found a large urine stain on the mattress. I spoke with the housekeeping staff, who said they would bring us a rollaway bed. I asked if the stained mattress could simply be replaced instead. At that point, the general manager, Brittney, joined the conversation and immediately dismissed the request, saying they would only provide a rollaway. Her tone came across as rude and dismissive, which set the tone for the rest of our stay. When we returned that evening, the rollaway had been left outside our room. It was unstable and in poor condition. We also discovered the air conditioner made a loud, high-pitched squealing noise whenever it ran. Since it was late, we decided to report it the next morning. The next morning brought another surprise. When I plugged in the room's iron to press my pants for the conference, it sparked and briefly caught fire. I unplugged it immediately before anything worse happened. I reported all of these issues to the manager on duty, who was professional, apologetic, and genuinely tried to help. He replaced the rollaway with a larger mattress, attempted to address the AC issue, and offered to move us to another room. After hearing similar complaints from several coworkers staying at the hotel, I decided to remain where we were. As a goodwill gesture, he removed one night's charge from our bill, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, our final interaction erased any goodwill. Because I had booked the additional personal night when I originally made the reservation, I expected to remain in the same room. Around 12:30 p.m. on what the general manager believed was my checkout day, there was loud banging on our door. It was Brittney, asking why we hadn't checked out. I explained that I had reserved the room through July 31. She insisted I was supposed to leave that day, told me she did not have me staying another night, and said I would need to "figure that out with the front desk," while rolling her eyes and dismissing what I was telling her. My wife immediately started packing because we believed we were being forced to leave. When I went to the front desk, the staff quickly confirmed that I did, in fact, have a valid reservation through July 31. Rather than correcting the situation and allowing us to remain in our room, they informed me we would have to move to a different room. At that point, we had enough. We canceled the final night's reservation and checked out early. The manager on duty deserves recognition for trying to make things right, but the overall experience was overshadowed by poor room conditions, maintenance issues, and, most importantly, the unprofessional and dismissive behavior of the general manager. Customer service starts at the top, and unfortunately, that's where this stay fell apart.

Amazingly, the rooms are so well insulated from noise you could miss the whole thing. Fortunately, the hotel offers ship spotting calls, even in the wee hours of the morning so you don't miss a passing vessel (if that's your thing). Because it is in an urban setting, the parking situation stinks, you have to drive around to the parking structure, hopefully find a spot near the walk way that connects to the hotel, walk through the walkway, take the elevator to the hotel lobby, and then take a different elevator to whatever floor your room is on. The biggest issue I have is the service and how snotty the staff is. One of the reasons I booked this hotel because it is dog friendly, when I booked the reservation, I called the hotel and requested a ground floor room near an exit and was assured it would not be a problem and they would be happy to accommodate my request. Upon check in, I found I was on the 3rd floor. I told the lady I had requested and been confirmed that I would have a ground floor room near an exit, she told me the 2nd and 3rd floor are the pet friendly rooms and she could move me to a 2nd floor room if that was better. I said, I would like them to honor my request, I was then told they couldn't do that and if I had a request like that I should have called the actual property and not Marriot. I did call the property and offered to show her the number in my phone. I was then told, whoever I talked to gave me incorrect information and shouldn't have said I would be able to have that room. At this point the other desk person stopped helping her customer and decided to stick her nose in and said "be sure to have her sign the pet waiver and additional cleaning fee agreement", what? First, if you know anything about service recovery Orr customer service you know that one person talks and helps the customer, her butting in was not helpful. Second, you guaranteed me something you didn't have and then acted like it's my fault but be sure and try to get me to sign a waiver and charge me extra for cleaning the room. Nope. This was a horrible experience with snarky people, I don't recommend and never stay there again.

Another review gives a very funny and accurate description of the parking…read more First, park in front of the hotel and let your passengers and luggage out. They will need the license plate number of your car. Then drive to 1st Street and enter the ramp. You will need to park on level 2 (slightly confusing) and then use the skyway to begin the trek to the hotel. Then take an elevator down a level and a few more turns through the maze and you see the front desk. Ask for water and a snack. :) The person who checked me in was rambling and confused. The Elite desk had a line so I ended up with him. He was the one who tried to explain the parking ramp. You will then use another set of elevators to reach your room. We were upgraded to a king suite due to status and the room was great. The temp was set to 65 so it was cold but after we figured out there were 2 separate thermostats, it warmed up. Very clean. We checked out the Club Level and there were very minimal snacks and beverages. Not worth upgrading to a Club Level room just for access. Nice location downtown.

The rooms still need a little work when it comes to the sofa beds. I really appreciate that there's a floor dedicated to my dog friends; I don't have one myself, but they're my friends anyway. Just one comment about the bathroom sink: the drain was completely clogged--as if it hadn't been cleared for months--and it was disgusting. Luckily, Kelly was kind enough to take care of the situation right away. See you next year.

Pier B Resort is an awful place- rude staff, shoddy rooms, inadequate on site restaurant, and pets…read moreARE allowed. One- pets are allowed. All of the common areas, including the two tiny guest elevators were consistently full of dogs. The hallways, the deck with the fire pits, sports court and game area, the parking lot, the lawn- all full of dogs. Perhaps great for dog owners, not so great for those of us with allergies or if you just don't stay at hotels to share space with dogs. Two- Our supposed "non-pet friendly" room was shoddy (see photos) with dirty carpet, a huge water damage stain on the ceiling and an accompaniment of fleas. You cannot allow pets throughout the property and expect to keep fleas and ticks contained in certain rooms. There was a tiny walk-in shower (photos) with only one glass panel. I understand that some large walk-in showers do not have door(s). But this one is far too small for that. No door to close on this just meant lots of water on the bathroom floor. Three- the staff was rude. Enough has been said here in other reviews about the bad behavior of the staff, so I feel no need to add another nasty story. Four- Silo, the on site restaurant was booked solid with groups that were not even staying at the hotel. The restaurant staff would not seat us, because the tables were all reserved. We were also told that this meant no in-room service. We and the other guests of the hotel waiting in line were told that we would have to go elsewhere or call some establishment that will deliver. I would only recommend this place to people who lie down with dogs. It's Motel 6 with a view.
