I'm giving this gym 1 star because the manager did not take action or show concern about a situation that affects the safety and comfort of everyone in the class. There is one guest who repeatedly occupies 2-3 spaces for herself, leaving very little room for others. Unfortunately, it seems that no one is willing to address the issue or ask her to stay within her designated space. The manager has a responsibility to help maintain a safe and fair environment inside the gym. When someone is taking up multiple spaces and affecting other members, management should step in and address it. If she prefers having more space or a roomier area for herself, she can take the back row where she can have more room for herself without compromising the safety and space of other members. There are reasonable ways to accommodate everyone without allowing one person to take over multiple spaces. I hope the gym takes this concern very seriously and ensures that everyone has equal space and feels safe and respected during class. read more

I came in as a gust just now and the gym is small and crowded. There was really no space to workout and almost every space near the mirror was taken. I will not be back. It was also a hassle to check in. The front desk guy had me scan a QR code and without further instructions, he walked away. I was filling out the 3 days pass but the other front desk guy then came and had me fill out another form. I had to start over. Plenty of parking though. I came in today was trying to sign up and get information how to sign up. Got welcomed with super rude girl(wish I got her name) I just got off work wanted to use the bathroom just to piss don't mind you. Apparently I need reliability paper work just to use the bathroom real quick. I was a crunch fitness member and shopping around to find a new gym. But the front desk at this place definitely not it. Could have been more welcoming me as possibly new member trying to get information and details on prices and sort. First thing she said after I gave her my driver license that I live outside of the area and won't even consider me to be a member. What the hell is that even mean? Mind you I live less than 10mins away from this place. I never heard of such a thing refusing a new interested member to get refused just because I live a little far from their liking?! Definitely not a pleasant first experience to begin with. I'm just here trying to find a new gym to work out on. First review of 2026: There are gyms that are considered "economical". A tier below a 24 hour fitness or Gold's Gym and well below an equinox. For example Planet Fitness and Crunch are economical and both have locations close by. Fitness 19 is in that group and I chose it as a secondary gym to a membership I have elsewhere. You get what you expect from an open gym. In the main area there are ample cardio machines, weights, other equipment, tvs. Why I chose this gym is (a) the wider variety of classes available (b) ample parking (c) the ability to pay up front for a whole year. I got the premier plus membership so there are some frills - like hydromassage or red light therapy - but really I'm just here for the cardio equipment to help supplement my other gym that is mostly circuit training. Much like other low cost gyms, can get super busy so prepare accordingly. You also have to deal with other individuals. Filming. Flexing in the mirror. Person getting mad at you for innocently not re-racking versus being polite about it. People coughing or not cleaning their equipment. Comes with the territory. If you don't accept that, then just work out at home or go to a fancy gym like equinox. All in all, whether it's 15 or 25 a month based on your plan, you get what you pay for and a fine option for those looking to start their exercise plan off this new year. read more

I'm very disappointed with Fitness 19. It's extremely hard to schedule classes. I never received a notification when a class was canceled. In the app, the class capacity shows 25 people, before was 35, but when I called, they told me their system shows 35. There is clearly a mismatch between the app and their internal system. I asked them to add me to the class because of this confusion, but they said it was already sold out. Very frustrating and unprofessional. On top of that, the gym is not clean enough and there is often a horrible smell inside. It does not feel like a well-maintained facility. I'm seriously considering changing gyms. I had been enjoying my experience at this gym and was becoming consistent, but an interaction with the manager, Michelle Chavez, completely changed that. I was approached and accused of outside training while simply working out with a friend who was helping count reps. The situation was handled in a way that felt confrontational and embarrassing, especially being addressed publicly without asking questions first. This experience made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. A gym should be a place where people feel supported, not judged or accused. Fitness room is always dirty! Club manager cares more about decorating for holidays than keeping the gym clean fun and inviting. Telling members they can only have one disinfectant wipe when they're trying to clean their space and their mats is so uncalled for. You go to that website the website tells you will receive an email in couple days!! Then that email tells you have to submit cancellation request!!! Then we will let you know!! Then you can't cancel personal training with website ! You have to call the gym!! You call the gym the manager is not there!! You have to call Monday to Friday 8 am to 3 pm!! Then they will charge me one month more for personal training fees even previously my membership cancellation happened!!?? So if you will charge me one month extra and I have the right to do my training with personal trainer! But my membership no longer valid, where I will do my training??? This is their logic ...! Very disappointing experience at Gym 19 in Chatsworth. I have been a customer there for years, which made this interaction even more upsetting. The entire interaction took place over the phone while I was trying to cancel my membership through what appeared to be an intentionally difficult and drawn-out process designed to make cancellation harder and continue charging members. During the call, an employee named Scarlet behaved in an unprofessional and threatening manner. Instead of handling the situation respectfully, I was met with disrespect and intimidation. Management should seriously address both their cancellation practices and how staff communicate with long-term customers. read more

I used to be a Fitness 19 member, but I've already canceled my membership. On the day I went to cancel, I walked in and asked a staff member for my member ID because I couldn't access it myself. The ID shown online only had 5 digits, but the actual number included several leading zeros (about 4 more digits, if I remember correctly). That day, I clearly told the staff that I wanted to cancel. The employee gave me the correct membership number, but never informed me that cancellations require 30 days' notice, or that I would be charged a penalty if I didn't give advance notice. What's disappointing is that when I signed up online, it stated that the membership could be canceled at any time. There was no clear or upfront explanation about a 30-day notice requirement. This makes me question the company's honesty and transparency toward its customers. I'm very disappointed by this experience and wanted to share it as a warning for anyone who is planning to cancel their membership. I was charged a $77 cancellation fee. read more

I've been going here for years and I still love the gym and all the staff. However, their biggest problem is broken machines not getting fixed. Their only incline bench has been "out of service" for over one month now just because a single screw has come out of place. I can fix that in 20 minutes but for some reason it takes the gym over a month. For over a week one of the stationary bikes has been out of service (still is) and just yesterday I found another one right next to it that is also inoperable. read more

I would never recommend this gym to any of my friends and family. Michelle is so rude and such a prejudice bully that I wouldn't even send my enemies there. She would laugh at the older people lifting light weights and has a big chip on her shoulder. I almost canceled my membership, but the new owner looked at my issue and made everything right! True customer service! As a result, I started working with a personal trainer, Jill, who is unbelievable! When I started with him in September, I thought I was in shape, but quickly realized I was wrong. It amazed me how many things I was unable to do! Jill worked with me and kept helping me improve day by day and week by week. Here I am at the age of 65 and I feel like I'm 45 again! Jill understands that to become stronger it takes body mind and spirit and he works with all three! He's a trainer, physical therapist and friend all at once! Our favorite teacher Kathi who led the cardio sculpt class (always filled to capacity) felt she had to quit last week due to nonstop bullying from manager Michelle. This was heartbreaking to all of us who took her class. When I brought this up to Michelle, she just laughed it off and clearly could care less. She actually thought it was funny! After years of ho-hum to awful management, Fitness 19 Chatsworth is at its best under manager Michelle Chavez. Michelle's staff -like her- feel like genuine, good people focused on doing their part to make each member's experience a good one. They warmly greet and engage, are constantly cleaning and going out of their way to make the gym a nice environment. They decorate for all of the holidays. Who cares about holiday decorations at a gym? They care about all of the details and it shows. He is very personable, attentive and will go out of his way to advise if he sees you can improve on your workout form. The staff at the front desk is the only reason I'm giving this place an extra star. They're a pleasure. The experience here is worth 2 stars at most. There isn't much wrong with the gym. It's constantly crowded, and there's a limited range of equipment. If you want to work out, you typically spend 30-45 minutes waiting for people to finish using a machine. Good luck if you try to find an alternative machine or substitute that can get the job done. You run into the original problem someone is already using that machine. This is one of those gyms offering an affordable subscription, but you can't take full advantage of it because everyone else already uses the equipment. read more

Hello, I attend my Zumba classes every weekend; it's the only reason I pay for my membership. Last Saturday, I brought my daughter with me as a guest because I understand I have the right to bring one. The person at the desk in front of me got upset and raised her voice in front of the members to the Zumba instructor, who had nothing to do with it. She kept asking the members for my daughter's information. I don't understand why she wants that information. If she needs anything about my daughter, she can talk to me. The members don't know anything about me. The staff member's name is Isabel, and I feel she needs better training to be able to deal with people.
