After researching the local gyms, fitness studios, and health and wellness centers, I dropped by RPM Fitness. Even before I entered the gym I was greeted outside by an employee (maybe the owner?). I was also happily greeted at the front desk and given a tour of the facility, with a brief overview of classes, busiest times of the day, and pricing. Not yet ready to commit, I went home. Now, a little less than a week later, I've joined as a member and am happy I did. The facility is organized, staff is friendly and helpful, locker room (at least the men's) is clean, and equipment/space meet all the needs of a well rounded gym. I especially like the open concept in one of the rooms which allows me to perform circuit training routines and not feel like I'm stepping on someone else's toes. Also, I particularly enjoy kettle bell, battling rope, and med ball exercises, all of which are available. You can really feel the inviting atmosphere even from the members. It's like a community where you're important, which is really refreshing to see compared to these giant facilities that have 4000+ members and you become just another $ sign. I've excited to get back in for another workout! Now, let's just see if Yelp! thinks I'm worthy of making the front page or tucking my thoughts away on their not worthy page.

The classes are challenging but fun and engaging. I love the small group atmosphere and it's been fun getting to know other members and becoming a part of the community. The best part is that Ashely gets to know everyone personally and he will push you outside your comfort zone if he knows you are capable of more but will also give you modifications for any exercise that you need. I've lost weight, noticed my clothes fitting better and have gotten into a much better exercise and healthy eating routine. I've also gotten a lot stronger and built muscle which is something I struggled to do on my own. After a long day at work, I actually look forward to going to Core Cardio and working out. I'd definitely recommend it!

Core Cardio is an amazing place. The trainers/instructors, the classes, and the community are…read morefantastic. They offer TRX (suspension training), Real Ryder Cycling, Bootcamp, Cardio Kick Boxing and Zumba! Even in the largest classes(about 12-15 students max for bootcamp) everyone gets personal attention, and the instructors are tuned into everyone's different goals and fitness levels, and they care. They also have a running club that meets 3 times a week, 2 times the meet ups are local in malden, and on the weekends they do a destination run, and the club is made up of all different levels. The club also does local 5k and 10k races. I think the biggest thing that makes this place so wonderful, besides the amazing classes and fantastic instructors, is how welcoming it is, not only do the instructors care about their clients, the studio/running club members care about each other and support each other. This is an ideal place for anyone who wants to challenge themselves. If your looking to make a lifestyle change, and add exercise to your life, this is the gym for you. If your already in great shape and looking to up your game, this is gym for you. If you've always hated gyms and work out studios(I would fit into this category) this is the gym for you. I started at this gym just shy of 6 months ago. I was desperate to get into shape and fit into my wedding dress, I had 8 weeks to lose it, or they were going to have to cut my dress and remake it(read nightmare), in 8 weeks with the help of Ashley and everyone at Core Cardio, they had to take my dress in( 4 inches in total). That was the first goal core cardio helped me reach, recently I hit another personal goal of running a 5k in under 30 minutes, so running under ten minute miles. I recently hit this goal as well, I ran a race that I'd previously run, but I dropped about 8 minutes off my time. In addition to all of that I have dropped 3 pant sizes, and lost 11.5 pounds. For my height and build I'm now only about 10lbs away from my ideal weight and I know with core cardio I will get there. You will not regret making the time and trying your first class free! You literally have nothing to lose.

I knew I needed someone to tell me what to do at a workout, or I won't have the motivation to show up at all. I was introduced to CycleBar and they offered a free class for first timers so I went with my friend! I was absolutely hooked! I think it's my 5th month now and after trying out several instructors, I found my personal favorites! I highly recommend Britt, Nicole, and Leah, and Ali! I love that every instructor has their own style and they are so encouraging in class. The space is always clean and they have free shoes to use! There's also a water bubbler, and towels for use at the studio. After taking classes at CycleBar, I tried other spin classes around Boston. They were fun but I love how CycleBar sends you your stats after every class, which most studios (if not all) don't. This motivates me to push harder and try to improve from my previous classes. Parking is also free (if parked under 3 hours) in the garage, which is a HUGE plus for me.

Unfortunately, that completely changed after taking a class with the instructor, Alexander Liviner. From the beginning, his attitude came across as arrogant and superior -- exactly the opposite of what I was hoping for. At one point, he made fun of me for being slow. It was completely unnecessary. If he was trying to be funny, it wasn't funny at all. It felt humiliating rather than motivating. I also got a little confused with the weights and accidentally grabbed the wrong one. Instead of guiding me or correcting me in a professional way, he made a facial expression that made me feel like I was stupid. A coach's role is to support and teach -- not to mock or belittle someone who is trying. It also felt like he clearly favored more advanced participants, giving them more attention while others were left feeling invisible. I left the class embarrassed, disappointed, and honestly regretting that I took it. It was a horrible experience. Lifetime should choose instructors who lead with encouragement and professionalism -- not arrogance or favoritism.

However since it is closer to the city, it's small and has limited amenities. They offer a variety of classes, but their gym space is very crowded. I found their spin and yoga classes comparable to boutique club classes. Their other cardio/lifting classes are better suited for beginners. Their staff is very friendly and they have some tables to work. The only thing outside the small space is that it gets VERY crowded. Which means you're waiting on equipment, the bathrooms get dirty quickly and hard to find locker space. They only have a tiny sauna in the change room which is always full during prime hours. I would not pay a hefty membership fee for just this location.

I wanted to come and see just how upscale this Fitness Center is. To my surprise, it was super clean and spacious, with state of the art equipment, spa quality facilities, plenty of open training space including an indoor swimming pool. One of the reasons I have this love hate relationship with gyms in general is how filthy dirty it can get. Just to know the feeling of how immaculately clean is a major plus for me. This is a full service fitness center that is located in the Seaport Hotel allowing hotel guests complimentary access. This is what I would call a gym for the Elite! All in all, it's a great place with amazing views of the surrounding Seaport District. I just hope people respect the place enough to help maintain its look and keep it clean.

I'm not alone in observing this. A group of us have been trying to avoid Mike. Unless Wave replaces this good for nothing manager with someone that actually has some minimal basic decency as a human being, let alone sufficient enough be the manager of a reputable gym in Seaport, members and its staff will rush out and seek the many other gyms in the area.
