Cornmeal Fried Catfish with Massaman Curry @tiffhuangry
    Tiff H.

FIVE AND TEN | was unfortunately not a five star meal for me. I had such high expectations since I am a huge fan of Hugh Acheson. Apparently not too long after our visit, he was no longer associated with the location, which unfortunately makes a lot of sense. We had a pup but we called ahead to make sure it was ok to sit on the outdoor patio with her in tow. The menu looked interesting so my expectations were even higher at this point. We started with some cocktails - the peppermint tea mojito was tasty, and the Chatham artillery punch was interesting as well - the inclusion of tea in the cocktails were fun and fragrant. The food was a little more disappointing. The chilled corn soup was probably the worst bite of the night - I was hoping for more of... I'm not even sure what. I thought it would be refreshing in the summer humidity but it just lacked any real flavor. The Mushroom Risotto was ok - very simple. The Shishitos were slightly better, but even with all the seasoning you see in the photo, it still was a bit bland. Then we moved on to entrees - the Pan Seared Flounder was cooked perfectly. I really wanted to like the creamed corn but it was just ok. The Cornmeal Fried Catfish with Massaman Curry was cooked well and we loved the curry that it came with. This dish was our favorite and the highlight of the meal. Dessert was also ok compared to the rest of the meal. The chocolate hazelnut tart was a little dry but the flavor was good. Overall, I'm just super disappointed because I have seen so many hyped up reviews in the past and I wonder if I just waited too long to visit. Hope it has improved since my visit in 2022, but I'm a bit nervous to stop through again since my meh visit.

    Margaraita

I'm very sad, came here to try the margarita(diggin on you), it was the most expensive item on the drink menu, so I thought it would be worth the price of 15 dollars for one drink!! It was one single sip, halfway up the glass. the ice cube was the whole entire cup. I was very disappointed because 15 dollars on one drink is a little absurd for one sip of margarita that did not taste strong.

an absolutely incredible meal from start to finish. the drinks, food, service, and ambiance were all absolutely incredible. firstly, i LOVE the house this restaurant is in - it's so gorgeous and so well set up. we were at a table by a window and it felt so homey and cozy. the service was excellent and our servers were really lovely. to start, we ordered the cornbread with honey butter and fennel. the cornbread was nicely salted and combined with the honey butter, was unreal. we also had strawberry spritzes, which were really fresh and light. the cocktail was nice and large! my friend ordered the chicken, which she said was delicious, and i ordered the only vegetarian option, the fritters. although there was only one vegetarian large plate, i really appreciated how creative and unique it was. too many times, the sole vegetarian option is just a large grilled portobello mushroom or cauliflower, but the fritters were filled with seasonal and local ingredients, delightfully crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and dressed with a delicious mix of pickled vegetables and garlic oil on butter bean puree. the desserts were also stunning. the chocolate nemesis - flourless chocolate torte with mint chocolate chip ice cream - was a dream and paired super well with the espresso martini i had. the portion sizes were pleasantly large and i was so full after our splurge-y meal. a truly 5-star experience.

I've enjoyed myself both times I've eaten at Five and Ten! If they have the cornbread you have to try it and the Caesar salad was also excellent. Always friendly staff as well.

Delicious dinner with my colleague. The menu was written to entice you to try everything. We each had one dish from each section - snacks, smaller and larger. I tried the cast iron cornbread, watermelon salad and seared cobia with a cherry ginger house made soda. My colleague had the pimento cheese, peaches and burrata and the steak au poivre. She had the pineapple house made soda. We loved all of it except for the soda. We just thought the soda could have been a little bit stronger on the flavor. Everything stayed at the bottom, maybe we should have mixed it up or they should've mixed it up better. It wasn't horrible. I just wasn't as flavorful as we thought it would be. The cornbread was absolutely delicious with the perfect amount of crisp on the outside, and the whipped butter was fantastic. I really enjoyed the Cobia, which is kind of a denser white fish. The vegetables were absolutely delicious. Besides the food, let me just say this restaurant is in a gorgeous house. Each room is beautifully decorated and really has a nice southern feel. The staff were very welcoming and friendly.

One of the many rooms in this house. Our table for 2 was by a window.

Outstanding food, drinks, service and ambiance. We went for our anniversary based on a Southern Living best restaurants of Athens list!

This restaurant reminds you of an old Southern home, with charming decor and outdoor seating right on the large front porch. We had a lovely dinner, with delicious and fresh food options. It's clear the menu changes frequently, tending to who is in the kitchen and what is fresh and seasonal. We started with the Serrano ham, which came with a delicious and sweet honey sauce we dipped out table bread into. We tried the majority of the larger entree portions, and table favorites included the unique stir-fried farro and the perfectly cooked lamb sirloin. We had to end the night with some dessert. While the Mexican chocolate ice cream had an unexpected spicy punch, the rhubarb tart and paired horchata-like ice cream was to die for. I would love to come back and try their next menu!

Wow! What an experience! The food was incredible from appetizers to dessert! Our drinks were delicious and everything came out promptly and with a smile. The atmosphere was unbelievable highlighted by the smiling staff. Special thanks to Sydney at the door and our servers Zoe and Theresa!

Now, it's still growing with love by two brothers born and raised in Bulldog Nation, honoring their parents. Five Points location opened in 2014. I've been here few times and I can tell you with 100% certainty that their quality is always better with each visit. The friendly and helpful staff are top notch. They are always knowledgeable and ready to assist you in rich and chocolaty varieties. ROASTERY: The space is small and cozy. When you enter, you're welcomed by sweet aroma. You can come in, enjoy the atmosphere, sip on your specialty drink and watch the process of chocolate making. And of course, while you watch confections masterpiece, why don't you indulge on their rich and delicious chocolates. CONFECTIONS: 48%-72% You've never had such rich, smooth and delicious treats in your life before! It may be a bold statement to make, but I encourage you to visit them and try it for yourself. You can indulge in milk or dark chocolate. "Georgia Bars," "Condor Chocolate Bars," "Bulldog Bark," and many of their individual specialty toffees. I picked up their, "Georgia Bar" and "Condor Dark + Smoked Sea Salt Bar," to enjoy at home. GIFT IDEAS: If you're one who loves specialty chocolate and loves to give, Condor has you covered. Besides many confections offered here, you can also try their great variety of coffee drinks. Many of their products ingredients are sourced from Ecuador. CHOCO COFFEE: Their blend of "Choco Coffee," isn't named after chocolate coffee. Instead, it's named after Ecuadorian, Choco Toucan bird. I bought, "Comunidad Blend," to brew at home. I've already brewed couple of cups and OMG!!! It offers notes of Dark Chocolate, Pecans, Pink Grapefruit and Guava. As I've been sipping on it, its whole beans are washed, well balanced, offer rich and bold flavors. You can taste the home roots. PARKING: It can be tricky to get in here. It's located off busy, S. Lumpkin Street. Parking is very limited as it shares it with five other businesses. There is additional parking nearby. RECOMMEND: Overall, this place is very unique. It offers something for everyone. They cater to kids and kids at heart... with a sweet tooth. Stop by or visit them online and see what all they have to offer. I highly recommend them and looking forward to continuing being their customer.

This is a small chain, as they have some around ATL, and they know what they're doing…read more This is also a great space they have. Tons of chairs and distance to spread out and do work if need be, right in town. The decor is very modern, and while I don't like UGA stuff plastered everywhere as a townie, I still appreciate the local addition to the inside. So far, I have ordered two drinks: // Taro slush w/ golden boba // Hokkaido milk tea w/ crystal boba The were both great, and prepared fast as heck. Also love bubble tea spots were you can adjust the sweet and ice level, which they do. I wasn't sure if I'd notice much of a difference between the different boba options, but I now know that I'll want to pair a lighter boba with certain drinks, as the crystal boba was just that, Golden a step above, and I think the balance of the light crystal boba with the rich caramel flavor of the Hokkaido went very well together, and I think I prefer it over the classic tapioca pearl in this context; hats off to Ding for helping me discover this for an even tastier and well-rounded drink. They were efficient, fast, and the quality hasn't seemed to suffer. Now, on to the few cons: // Ordering with the weird microphone at the divided window panes at checkout; it seems both the cashier and the customer have a hard time understanding each other, having masks to not follow lips makes it harder, had to repeat things on my order both times. Not a big deal, but an inconvenience, and I appreciate them putting up COVID measures from the get-go. // Boba isn't included in the main drink price. It's usually 55¢ extra (a little more for premium toppings), and maybe this just comes from me being used to having it included, it's why I'm coming to a bubble cafe, after all. I think it may be so they can offer more boba varieties, so again, not the biggest deal, but another perceived inconvenience from what I'm used to, may not even be the standard, so I'm not too off put because I may lack perspective. // The staff seem like they are still figuring it out both times I went by, and they weren't rude or the like.. just eh, but they may very well be stressed, it does seem like a lot to have train folks with with all their options. // No food options / little snacks I looked for this and didn't see any, but will update if I stand corrected or they bring snacks options to the menu. I do mainly want the drink, but if I want to sit and read or work on something it'd be nice to have the option. All in all, I am happy with this new bubble tea establishment, and I want to see it stick around.

You can honestly never go wrong with brown sugar as a flavor. I also tried the passion fruit milk tea with star fruit jelly. Definitely a new favorite, I was reluctant to try a fruit milk flavor but it was surprisingly refreshing! The caramel Hokkaido black milk tea was super yummy too and more dessert-like.
