We had to throw out at least 6 NY steaks. My husband is a master griller/smoker of meats and he cooked the regular 10oz ones perfectly but they were inedible! Like trying to eat leather! And the other 2 were their grass fed ones also inedible! So when you get NY steaks (ungraded) for $6-$7 each? Thats why! They're crap! And the 2 "grassfed" NY's for $20? They have name brand pet food for your cat or dog here. Pretty good discounts and they have both wet and dry food. They have home goods here for a decent price too and kitchen utensils. I got some blueberries, tortillas, gallon plastic bags for food, and the cat litter that changes color depending on your cat's health. I would probably come here for pet food, chips, and some fruits and vegetables. Maybe not the meat though since the expiration dates are pretty close. So, I have to say that Grocery Outlets have become a bit of thing for the wife and I when we travel to California. I think this was one of 5 that we stopped at during our trek up the PCH. We had a long drive from Phoenix AZ to Oxnard to begin out journey and we found this grocery outlet to be just the the thing we needed to refuel a bit. The highlight of this visit was a 1LB bag of Takis Hot Nuts my wife found for $2.49. Those nuts lasted her for 7 days as we traveled up the PCH. I had a frustrating experience at Grocery Outlet. The workers moved at an extremely slow pace, almost like they had no urgency or respect for customers' time. It felt like they were in their own world, completely detached from the idea of customer service. What really annoyed me was being asked three separate times if I wanted a bag. I clearly said no each time, yet I was still charged for one. That shows a serious lack of listening skills, which is unacceptable in any customer-facing job. It's not just about a few cents. it's about being heard and respected as a customer. This location really needs to work on training their staff to be more attentive and efficient. Oh wow! The store in general is well stocked and clean, but the cashier that I worked with has robbed this review of two stars. It's not normal for me to write negative reviews, but this one I felt was necessary. The young woman cashier with long , wavy brown hair was shockingly rude. She gave no greetings to me when I went to check out she said nothing to me while I was checking out except for "put this back on the other side of the register she was referring to the hand basket at the store provides. I found it rude to ask customers to do employee work, but thinking she may have had a rough day I complied. I was surprised when she did not say thank you or even provide eye contact. Instead, she handed me my change without comment. She had a hostile countenance, a rude demeanor, and an entitled tone. She was absolutely not who you want to be the face of your company. I have been shopping here more and more with no issues. Today I saw some dog crate mat's. The medium was marked 5.99 on the shelf. So I got two and one small one for my rescue dogs. When I went to check out they were 9.99. The manager agreed they were miss priced but could only honor 1 at the price even though I was trying to purchase 2. Wanted to write an update. Everything still applies from my previous review. This place is always clean and there are always workers stocking up on product. I should've taken my own advice, though. I purchased something 2 weeks ago that was expired 3 months ago and didn't notice until after i consumed it... CHECK. THE. EXPIRATION. DATES! I've also seen the 2 owners of this place, the couple. The husband is really friendly, outgoing and looks like he gets along with his employees. He always asks if customers were finding everything alright. The wife, with the blonde curly hair, was the opposite. As far as my run-in with her, she never greets unless she personally knew someone. I accidentally bought expired zucchini here on 9/27. The best by date was 9/9. Yes, I should have checked the date but the bag of squash looked fine. As if someone put fresh squash on top but there was rotten squash on the bottom so it seemed kind of intentional. I emailed the store but never got a response. I love this grocery store! I tell everybody I know about it, I shop here first and then elsewhere IF I need to. It would be more convenient if there was a bigger selection of organic produce, like cilantro and tomatoes but either then that I can't complain about the availability. I know it's not always consistent but they do a great job at providing healthier options for people like me. Now the reason I gave it three stars is because the most cashiers have no people skills which means no customer service skills. They do their job, sure, but a hello, a thank you , calling backup when necessary, is appreciated. I feel like younger people nowadays just don't have any social skills and it shows up so much when they're dealing with the public. I get it, life is tough, but leave the bad attitude at the door and just get to work. You're there to make money but also be friendly, be polite, engage with the customers. It definitely had some good deals but you would need to plan out your trip prior. They do not carry normal grocery essentials rather it's more like the food section at the 99 Cents store but a whole entire store. Does that make sense?... I went in looking for some cookies and they had a small variety, but there were still Keebler elf cookies. I opted out for a big bag of brownie brittle for $5.99. I might look at their ads a little more often just to see what other items they have on discount, but unless you know what you're looking for this is not like a normal grocery store. So Grocery Outlet used to be Haggen's (completely unsuccessful and overpriced goods) and previously Albertson's (remember when the employees went on strike?). I think this is a great change for this market to be Grocery Outlet now. You have to shop here with an open mind. They have an interesting variety of food merchandise but very limited on flavors and selection. For example, I decided I want ice cream and they don't carry all the popular brands at a usual market but a limited selection of brands and within those limited brands, limited flavors. I decided to go with Talenti raspberry & cream gelato but it was the only gelato item (I changed my mind from ice cream to gelato, specifically) and they ONLY had the raspberries & cream flavor. So if you're not picky, you can come here haha. The prices are what brings me here as well as convenient location. You can get a good amount of groceries for a fraction of a cost at a normal grocery store. Lines are very short. Not a lot of shoppers around I guess. And be sure to check their grocery ads/receipts because they do have coupons :D read more

I am so impressed at how well they are stocked up and all the amazing variety of groceries they carry. This is my go to place for all my grocery shopping! They have tons of vegan, organic and non GMO food items! I am beyond Impressed with everything they have, you will find amazing fresh fruit, fresh veggies, frozen fruit, frozen veggies, all condiments and seasonings, frozen food and vegan protein (imitation meat etc). They have a lot of snack food like chips, yogurt, hummus etc they also have tons of non dairy options! I even get my cat food and supplies from here. The prices are incredible! I stopped in to see what this store has now that it's a Grocery Outlet instead of the previous store. I didn't have anything I particularly needed, but I found some things that I wanted to buy anyway and that was nice. Produce selection was decent, and the store is clean. Aisles are wide and easy to navegate. Shelves are well stocked and lines to check out are short. It wasn't busy when I was there anyway. Selection is hit or miss but that's to be expected with an "overstock" store like this. I thought the prices seemed fair. Parking lot is spacious and the location is easy to find. Not a lot of other grocery stores of this size particularly close by so it's got that going for it. Kind of a depressed shopping center, but the stores are at least clean and well maintained. My friend wanted to try this market because she knows the owner, so I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of very inexpensive things I found I couldn't do without. When we were leaving, my friend said she couldn't believe how little she had spent, and I said I couldn't believe how much I had spent (because of all the bargains I couldn't leave without).
