Really good tasting burgers and fries that, yes, are a chunk more expensive than McDonald's but guess what, you will usually pass a McDonalds on the way to Five Guys so just go there if you're going to complain about the cost difference. Would I love to see Five Guys a bit cheaper; of course, but as it is, it is a "special occasion" meal for us and not a "we need to grab something out tonight meal. Grub Hub delivery was perfect. No condiments included with food. Site does not have an option to choose condiments so I called the store to make sure they included ketchup for fries. This was our first take out order from 5 guys during the Pandemic- but it won't be our last!! I didn't know they were open- and I got an email from Barracks Road Shops that mentioned that 5 guys was open- for take -out or curbside pick up!! The website was easy to maneuver to pick all your favorite toppings( grilled onions!! Yummm!) and ordering was clear and fast. We got there and called the phone number for curbside pickup and a masked, polite young man brought the bag of delicious food to our car! We got home and enjoyed an easy Sunday dinner!! Usually we get more expensive burgers- but are completely satisfied with our food from 5 guys- also they have No Bun, and Lettuce Wrapped as choices- for everyone who doesn't want a bun!!! Good, consistent location, 1 out of 3 in cville. If you need a tasty burger or grilled cheese don't hesitate to hit this spot. My norm is the Bacon Double Cheeseburger with bbq sauce and jalapeños. I can't get enough!! The staff is always nice here and deliver what you request. Every time that I have ordered from here I haven't waited long either. The quantity of fries and toppings definitely aren't skimped on. The interior could use a little more cleaning as far as table tops but I have witnessed some sweeping action happening within the restaurant :). The exterior is part of a strip mall so it is well maintained. Depending on the day parking/distance could be an issue. read more

I don't know why Five Guys seems out of place in Cville to me.. Alas, tucked into the corner of Barracks Road Shopping Center, the shiny red, sans serif neon sign, beckons you to come in for a no-frills burger and more fries than you can eat. Five Guys is alright by me. Their large size fry can feed a small army and the burgers really are good. This location doesn't sway. We were addressed with friendliness, and we were in at a slow time, so they chatted to us a bit as we waited for our burgers. I think Five Guys counts as fast food, but it ain't McDonald's; your burger is still cooked up fresh as ordered, so you'll have to wait a few minutes for it. Worth it. They aren't gourmet, but again, they are well-cooked, topped with the classic toppings, served hot and fresh, and they satisfy that American burger craving. Five Guys burgers are probably floating right there when you close your eyes and think of the Platonic idea of "burger." There's nothing fancy about the food or the place itself, but the retro style of clean, white tile with red accents sets a fun, easy mood and your burger, served wrapped in paper feels genuine. I've been a customer at this location since they opened about 15 years ago, and it pains me to say that after a recent management change, they are the worst Five Guys I have ever been in - by far. The fries are soggy, cold and limp. I've asked until I'm blue in the face to have them extra crispy, double fried, and so on. I've emailed Five Guys corporate to complain how this particular location has gone downhill, can't cook fries, and gets orders wrong, but they are ignoring me and nothing changes. And now things are so bad that every time I order, I just get random toppings on all the sandwiches but none are even close to correct. Do yourself a favor, and go to a different Five Guys that actually cares about the food quality and actually upholds the reputation that Five Guys has worked so long to build. I really do not know how anyone can award a place that provides peanuts to your heart's content anything less than 5 stars. ESPECIALLY ELEPHANTS!!!!! The whole bag was literally filled with fries. It wasn't the thin, crummy McDonald fries, but instead thick, crispy, potatoe-y fries. I must admit, it tastes pretty good! The fries are also fried with peanut oil, so it added another layer of flavor on top of the salt. The burger was also surprisingly good. The meat was freshly grilled and tender and the cheese was warm and welcoming. The lettuce still retained its crunch and the bun was soft and fresh. The red and white tiling, the extremely simple menu, and made to order fast food nature of are all very much the same. The only differences are the ample peanuts to snack on while you wait and that they use slightly more meat for your burger here. I like this place but I feel like it gets more credit than it deserves. Is it better than McDonald's or Burger King? Of course. I love their commitment to fresh ingredients, fresh potatoes etc. But, if you're looking for a serious burger, you can find a number of better ones in any city where you find a Five Guys. In Charlottesville, Blue Moon or Miller's are better. The burger itself never really stands out. The selection of toppings is nice and I never feel like the quality of the ingredients are sub-par. But, I feel like you end up tasting the toppings and not the burger. Particularly if you get it with bacon. The patty itself is good but not extraordinary. Although I appreciate the fresh potatoes, I don't actually love the fries. In fact, I've been known to pick up McDonald's fries to pair with a Five Guys burger. The problem is that the fries are really dense - when paired with the bun and the burger you can easily feel like you are overloaded quickly. The crispy McDonald's style fry is a better compliment and less likely to overwhelm the burger I think. Bacon was sitting on a basket ready to be tossed on. Cheese wasn't melted. Grilled onions were close to raw. Entire burger was cold and flavorless. Nobody in the family liked it. Small is big when it comes to 5 guys. The "regular"burgers have 2 patties and the "little" burgers have 1 patty. A "small" fry is still a whole potato! Save your money. If you're still hungry after that, order more. This location has very limited indoor seating. The Five Guys franchise does not disappoint. I've been to the ones in northern VA many many times, and the Five Guys here in Charlottesville lives up to the name. The burgers are as good as you can order from a restaurant, service was quick, and of course the free peanuts while you're waiting!
