I've been to this one a few times during the pandemic. While the place has always been clean and the staff is always friendly (wearing masks), the food has fallen below par. The Burgers are just ok, and the fries have been soggy, burnt and or undercooked and usually come in a ball, at the bottom of the bag. Everyone is wearing masks. The tables are clearly labeled noting whether it can be sat at or not for social distancing purposes -- basically expect to take out. Service was patient as I took forever trying to put in my order and the various free toppings they offer. The French fries are beyond generous that I probably didn't need to order so much. I forget that at five guys they put your fries in a cup, put it in your to go bag, and then shovel extra fries on top. The burger itself --- their regular hamburger and cheeseburger comes automatically with a double patty. Price wise, it makes sense -- its relatively the price of two burgers. What an awful experience. I ordered via Uber eats and it arrived unsealed looking exactly like this. I have requested a refund on both order of fries, but instead only got partial "Uber credit." In the middle of COVID-19 pandemic, you would think you would package your food better and actually seal the bag for transportation. There's ample parking at the deck. I was expecting to have to pay for parking based on the area. Luckily it free (I hope, don't quote me). I ordered the regular (2 patties) with grilled onions and mushrooms. Boo Boo got the junior (1 patties with like everything and especially A-1 sauce. We shared a regular fries and soda. This location has that special coke machine. The staff was a well seasoned to get the order correct as it was around lunch time when we dined. Big ups to them. Monday night I arrive at Five guys with my lady friend, Red, for some much anticipated burgers. Prior experiences have always been good. It is way after the noon rush and way before the dinner rush. So we are the only people inside. We order milkshakes, our burgers with toppings and sit to wait on our food. The burgers are soon sitting on our table when I notice something is "off". I inspect my entire burger to find it is completely missing mushrooms and onions. I walk back to the counter with my burger and the female cook quickly acknowledges me. I inform my burger is missing the mushroom and onions. The male cook quickly chimes in, "Would you like me to make it on the side for you, or do you want a fresh burger?" "Make a fresh burger." I admit I may have huffed a little. But when you are the only two people ordering two burgers I expect them to be right. No one else is in place and they could not get the order right. Red stops eating her burger as now she is upset the meal was ruined by my displeasure. I am finishing my peanuts and the fresh burger is back at my table. I thank the person. Upon inspection of the burger I notice what might be an incomplete patty. Almost as if they simply put the same one back. But I did not take enough notice before I notice something else about the burger. They added tomatoes. Red, ordered tomatoes, I did not. Mind you, I already broke my own cardinal rule about incorrect orders. "If you send something back, be prepared to eat nothing else." Seeing tomatoes I did not order only makes me think this is in retaliation for sending back a burger. "They are screwing with me." I give the tomato to Red rather than create another incident. At that point I usually would demand a refund and site their incompetence. Red would not eat as I kept inspecting my burger to make sure nothing else is wrong with it. This goes on for a few minutes before I take some regrettable bites. I have heard enough "special sauce" stories. We finish our food but are not enjoying any of it due to not one, but TWO mishaps on the same burger. Mind you, whenever Red and myself dine we are always kind to the order takers and wait staff. We tip a minimum 20% and are welcomed back by those we see us return. I regret that Five Guys has made my black list. Nothing fancy, no long wait, filling and enjoyable just like any chain establishment should be. Fries here are pretty good, not my favorite as they come out rather heavy. Even with ketchup they take away from the burger. Pound for pound I can probably stomach more burgers than fries. Drinks are without a doubt something special here. I was just at this place during lunchtime with a group of people. My coworker and I ordered three regular soda cups to order unsweetened iced tea and when I tasted the tea, it tasted like garbage and I had to spit it out immediately. My coworker also got herself unsweeten iced tea which she smelled and knew immediately that it went bad. We understand things can happen, so we just brought back the cups and asked the guy at the register for new cups explaining that the tea went bad. He said he has to ask the manager (Margarita) for a new cup and refused to change the cup. When he told the manager that unsweeten iced tea went bad, the manager shouted across the kitchen saying that we should just dump the tea and get a different drink. With a shock, I just asked her politely for a new cup, and she refused to give it to us. (Really???????) That's when I yelled at her for a new cup because due to the smell of the bad iced tea I didn't want to drink from the same cup, and told her she should check the unsweetened iced tea container. Then she told her employee to give us new cups and ignored us completely and continued working. I was mad but understood that she was busy preparing food and I thought she will just check the tea later. While I was eating, I checked to see if any of the employees will check the iced tea but nobody seemed to care. I was very worried that people will drink the tea without knowing because most of the people will drink sweetened flavor tea and will not notice that it went bad. Before leaving the store, I went up to the manager again and asked her politely to at least taste or check the condition of the tea. The manager told me that she doesn't like soda or tea, and she refused to taste it. (Really????????????????) I was so shocked to hear her and told her that as a manager, she is responsible for the condition of the food and drink and if she refuses to taste the tea simply because she doesn't like to then she can at least brew or open a new one. She refused to even smell the tea saying that the tea was from YESTERDAY and it shouldn't be bad. I was shocked that the tea was not even from the morning batch and I knew I shouldn't even make an argument with her because she is not qualified as a manager. I went back to the table to call the headquarter to complain about this issue, and that is when my coworkers notified me that the manager came out of the kitchen with her cellphone to take photos of me. I asked her to delete my photos on her cellphone and she just went back into the kitchen. (Really????????????????????) I thought everything was so unreal, so I called cop but he said that he couldn't do anything about the issue and told me to call the headquarter instead. I called the headquarter and explained the issue, and the customer service agent told me that he will get the owner of the store to contact me later. After we came back to the office, the owner called me and with a very angry voice, he said that there is nothing wrong with the iced tea. I told him I have a bad iced tea with me and I can bring the tea to his store again. He said he doesn't care about the tea and because I was disturbing his business, he said I am permanently banned from his business and I should never enter his store ever again. I asked his name for the record and he said there is no reason for him to give the name and he just hung up on me. He made it sound like I'm the crazy one. I still have the bad iced tea with me and I asked my other coworkers who don't know about this incident to smell the tea. Every single one of them smelled and was about to puke and asked what I was drinking. I was just asking for an apology and wanted them to throw away the tea before other people drink it and become sick. A simple apology would have been enough but it is ridiculous how they treat the customer and would not admit their mistake. If she simply told us that she will inspect it later, I would have left the store without argument. read more
