This is a cute little cafe! Three of us came here for lunch on a weekday w a toddler and we were able to find seating and enjoy our meal together. There's a nice selection of caffeine and a couple of alcohol choices. The food menu is a little chicken heavy but that's not a problem for us. I got the chefy salad and thought it was a great portion size. The salad dressing was quite tasty and the chicken was well cooked and not dry. My husband tried the chicken salad sandwich and also enjoyed it. This is a good place for a healthy meal and a cute ambiance. I think about this maple cruller donut often... too bad I live 12 hours (on a plane) away from here. Maybe that's a blessing right? If not, I'd be munching on this donut everyday. However, too much of something isn't good, so I'm grateful I get to come here and experience this when I'm in NYC. Normally, when you find a coffee shop (anywhere honestly, not just in a big city) you run into the "problem." You know? Either it's amazing ambience OR great customer service. It's rare that you get the quad-fecta (is that a thing? ): great coffee, amazing customer service, tasty pastries/food, and beautiful ambience (plus reasonable prices as a bonus). Daily Provisions checks all those boxes... Easily becoming my new favorite coffee shop in NYC. I've lived here for two months and can't believe I'm just finding this place. Parker, the cashier, was super sweet and recommended the maple cruller, it's definitely sweet, but so good! The barista (unfortunately I didn't get his name, but he's 6ft and Black... before y'all start, 1) I'm Black and 2) I want to make sure the right person gets the praise he deserves) made me a 10/10 drink! As someone who works from home, coffee shops are often my first interaction of the day, and with loneliness becoming such a real thing in the U.S., that matters. I'm really glad this was mine. Best crullers I've ever had. Crispy on the outside, super fluffy on the inside. My favorite was the maple one, although the raspberry one was also amazing. I'm sure any flavor is good; way better than anything you can get at Krispy Kreme or somewhere similar. I found none of the flavors to be overpoweringly sweet; the crullers were not oily on the outside either. A very well executed cruller and I'm sure any of the flavors are good. There aren't a ton of early-opening breakfast spots on the UWS, so we ventured to this place despite its sandwich-heavy, limited menu. But, as we all know, there are sandwiches and there are sandwiches. These were delish. We sat on comfy stools facing Amsterdam Ave and ate a bacon, egg and cheese on a roll and an avocado toast with two eggs. The avocado had tangy dice of pickled sweet/hot peppers; it rested on a slice of grainy bread and was topped by two delicately browned fried eggs. The egg sandwich had thick, short slices of peppery bacon. Hot, melty, great fusion of flavors--more than the sum of its parts. The coffee was hot and delicious; staff were friendly; service was quick. Prices also very reasonable: $40 including tip for sandwiches and coffee; we each got a free refill. These are the heaviest and fluffiest doughnuts ever. Yes, I realize what I am saying its a contradiction, but when you try it, you'll understand. And absolutely amazing. I am so glad I finally got to try it. I didn't think I would love the cruller doughnut, but I think this is now my favorite doughnut. There's a hint of sweetness. The maple one definitely deserves a recognition it got. This key lime with pork floss though, was a surprising combination that now I am obsessed with. I am very interested in heading back and try other things on this menu. The people in front of me in line were taking a little bit to order so a waitress popped out of nowhere with a handheld device to take my order so that I didn't have to wait super long. I appreciate that so much. And when the guy handed me my bag of assorted donuts, he did so with both hands! This is a type of business people should support. When I walked in on a weekend morning, the place was chaotic to say the least. There is limited seating, so it's quite competitive in the winter. The coffee is good here. I do really enjoy the strength and taste of the espresso. The staff is super friendly! Bacon egg and cheese: 9/10 This thing is famous for a reason. The gooey egg, the thick bacon, the soft roll, and the hot sauce all make for a perfect combination. I would highly recommend getting this. It's honestly a bit small in my opinion if you are comparing it to a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel it's not as heavy - which can be good and bad. I think for the price it's on the line. I was looking for a simple bacon egg and cheese near the history museum and this place checked the boxes! It's a trendy cafe with a handful of tables and chairs to sit at. It was busy on the weekend so I wouldn't count on being able to snag a table but maybe it's better during the week or the summer months. The line did move fast. I would say I was there for a total of 20 minutes between ordering and waiting for the order. The area near the front door and the "to go" shelf where you also wait for your order was crowded and kinda awkward but obviously I think this would be better if I went at a less busy time. I ordered and iced caramel coffee, a maple cruller, and a bacon egg and cheese sandwich. The crullers I think are their "thing" so I had to try one and I'm so glad I did. It was so fresh and fluffy. Ridiculously good and I could have ate a million more of these. The coffee was tasty and the sandwich was pretty good too. I think when I ordered it I expected it on a bagel but the bread it came on was really good anyways. I didn't realize the egg yolk would be soft and definitely got yolk all over me on my first bite. Our impressions: - Crullers (maple and seasonal raspberry lemonade): My family deems these the best donuts on the UWS* - Cold brew: smooth, delicious and so very welcome on a day when I was dog tired. You can add or not add a milk of your choice at the counter to the left of the front door. Oat milk, skim, whole and I think two percent were all on offer, along with cold water and glass water cups, which you could help yourself to. This is a nice act of generosity (and ecological conscience) that my generation probably took for granted when we were younger, but no longer can. - Lines: not awesome. On the weekday morning of my most recent visit, the line was to the door, if not out of it the entire time. People who are smarter than I am order ahead! The staff is good, friendly and helpful even when you can tell they are just as tired as you are. After waiting for a very long time and approaching the front of the line, someone began helping folks behind me in line to order through a remote device rather than at the register, which helped cut the wait time for those behind me by a great deal. The breakfast sandwiches looked delicious! I couldn't justify having my young humans stay outside with our pup by themselves for longer than necessary, so I could order these sandwiches. But next time, I hope. * The kiddos did a taste test comparison of Krispy Kreme, Orwasher's and Daily Provisions donuts (with an unfortunately strong background knowledge of Dunkin' Donuts from school birthday celebrations). We weren't comparing apples to apples, but rather crullers to sufganiyot, cake donuts, glazed donuts, etc.... But for what it's worth, Daily Provisions' crullers were a long shot favorite. It's true that they aren't airy on the inside -- in fact, I'm pretty sure based on the small bite of the maple cruller I tried that there's actually a creamy filling in there. But flavors are vivid, the texture is light and lovely on the outside, without leaving a heavy impression of oil. The employees seem overall happier than those at Orwasher's. You're unlikely to find a more pleasing breakfast or sweet treat than the Daily Provisions cruller. Arrive early, though, they sell out! (Especially the limited edition flavors.) Tough to snag a seat inside, but they have nice tables for dining outside in their little "patio" too. Their summer chicken salad with pickles had me in a chokehold this summer. Their lemonade is pretty good too! There are several locations in nyc and I've bopped to a few of them. The food is consistent at all of them, only having varying levels of wait time and space. UWS is a bit small but great for people and baby watching. A lot of the spaces are occupied by people working so get their early. Their pastries look good so that might be next time! The first time I tried to go here was a Sunday at 10:30am the weekend of the nyc marathon to meet ladies for coffee/dessert. I live 15 min away so I placed my order just before I left so I could have it ready to sit down with the ladies. The place was packed when I got there, that I was surprised we got a table, even though it was outside and quite cold. When I went to the counter my order was not there and the barista said it wasn't ready. Came back another 15 min, still no cookie, then again another 15 min and the same thing. It was bit awkward sitting with the ladies for 1 hour empty handed and having to be disruptive during the conversation to check on my order, they were equally shocked. I didn't order a drink or anything that required preparation. I eventually just cancelled the order after the 1 hour wait for a cookie! Fast forward a few months later, I had a credit that was about to expire, so I ordered a maple cruller on a Monday at 12pm. The store wasn't crowded and my order was actually there at pick up. When you open the bag, you get hit with the maple syrup smell reminding you of pancakes on a Sunday morning. The outside glaze was a tad crunchy and the inside was very soft. It's as expected, very sweet. Probably extra sweet for me since this is the first sweet item I've eaten in 2 weeks (holiday detox). Visited the UWS location on a Friday afternoon to try their tuna sandwich and one of their famous crullers and to check out the vibe. A few tables and seating, but it was packed. Looked like a casual place to have lunch, meet a friend, or work on laptop. Service was friendly, but I think they forgot about my order so I was waiting there for 20 minutes. The guy at the counter offered me a cruller for the wait, which was appreciated. Sandwich was fresh and good, but I took it to go. I'm always looking for a good bread on a sandwich, and this was toasted nicely, but can't tell if it wouldn't been better warm and eaten there and not 30 mins later. Pricey at $14 for a sandwich. Glad I got that cruller, too. I got the Maple Cruller, which smelled divine like pancakes. It was a sweet treat. Not sure I would enjoy it again, I don't really eat a lot of fried donuts. Can't believe I haven't written a review for this place. Got reminded yesterday when I checked in. A favorite in Upper West Side, this is a go to when I just want a quick coffee or sandwich or pastry. Was in the area yesterday after a doctor's appointment. Got a quick latte (love the latte art btw) and their bacon egg and cheese sandwich. Sooooo good! I also got the blueberry muffin to go as well as the ham & cheese sandwich to share with my husband. Had it earlier and I've found the blueberry muffin a little too sweet but the ham & cheese was perfect. This was close to what I typically got in Paris. Perfect baguette crisp, top quality ham, good quality cheese and the mustard, instantly brought me back to France. Wish I took a picture earlier but when it's too enjoyable, you end up forgetting.
