My son wanted to try five guys so we gave it a shot. We haven't been to any location in about 10 years. The place was very clean. One of the workers walked through right when we came in to tidy up. Workers were all very nice. They patiently answered any of our questions. The cashier always had a smile on her face. The food is cooked to order. Toppings are all free. But the prices are quite high. Everything is a la carte. We ordered 2 double bacon cheese burgers, 1 large fries, 1 large soda, and 1 chocolate milkshake. This all came to about $48!!! The burgers were perfect (except that they mislabeled them). The fries were well worth the $7. Between the three of us we couldn't finish the fries. The milkshake was ok. Nothing special. Tasted exactly like Hershey's syrup. Sodas are free to refill if dining in. Plenty of roasted peanuts to snack on free of charge Not sure how often I'll be coming back because of the cost but service and quality were top notch. I'm giving it three stars only because I was hungry when I went there it was crazy. Everyone was backed up yesterday. The kitchen was unorganized so that probably led to everything being backed up. I got a milkshake with no trimmings and then just regular burger fries that was $25. I ended up waiting 35 minutes for food and the only reason why I gave it extra stars cause I was offered fries milkshake a free drink so I took the milkshake because why not. The only part I will say that was kind of jarring was that two of the kitchen staff was yelling at the woman on the register. I felt bad for her and told her just concentrate on doing your job. She says " I just let it roll off my back" after the 35 minutes I noticed one of the guys Apologized to her once thing started getting under control and calm down. I personally think Five Guys is a bit overpriced for a burger. However, the burger was needed when I was craving for it, and I like how the customer gets choices for the toppings. There aren't any special sauces, though. The fries are great because they aren't salty. I did not like the fact that the fries were dumped in the paper bag because the paper bag got grease through it, and I couldn't take it home. This 5 Guys needs some improvement. I have been to ones in a variety of States: MA, VA, MD, RI, DC, FL. They are all CONSISTENTLY VERY GOOD. Five Guys burgers are made perfectly: they are always moist & juicy. The fries are freshly cut, crispy but tender on the inside & piping hot. I do not know what is going on with the Groton location but I have been there twice for takeout several months apart & both times, the burgers were completely lackluster: thin patties, medium cooked, very little flavor. Not at all juicy or hot either. The fries were okay but not great. I don't understand what is going on with this location. I did have a milkshake & it was very good except they skimped on the flavoring which was disappointing. Covid has really been hard on all businesses. I will give them another opportunity.... These Guys are F nuts. I spent $30 online and u get here there closed. Knocking on windows police called and they ignored everyone. 4 other people did not get there food. I have been going to this location for years, but tonight was the first time I was really annoyed by the service. I clearly ordered a LITTLE cheeseburger and a shake, but the bill seemed a little high. She had rung up a regular cheeseburger. She called over the manager, and said that I had "changed my order" (wrong) at least twice. He got me the correct change. I put a tip in the jar anyway, and she did not thank me. The food is CRAZY overpriced now with the third hike in 2 years. Door dash says closed, sign says open, google says open, no one awnsers the phone. This place is trash. Five Guys is a chain that makes decent burgers. Wife and I stopped in and grabbed 2 bacon cheese burgers (a regular is a double), 1 large order of fries, and a pair of sodas. Overall, ran $26. While you wait for them to make your burger the way you want with the 20-30 topping options, you can munch on the peanuts they have in the shop. Burgers are almost always made fresh and from scratch, which is why they charge more than your normal fast food burger joint. Place was clean overall and the people were really nice. We got our order and enjoyed our meal, the fries like always were overflowing in the brown paper bag and 1 order was more than enough for me and the wife. This place is honestly much better than McDonald's and Burger King, I prefer the burgers here over Applebee's and TGIF, so the price doesn't bother me too much. If you have never tried it, worth checking out. Recommend getting the jalapeños on the burger. read more

This evening I went to 5 Guys since it was within walking distance of my hotel. I went for a quick and inexpensive dinner just to get me filled up and ready for the next day. I think the Walmartians congregate here for dinner as there was quite a diverse cross section of patrons on a Tuesday night. My only complaint was it appeared my order took extra long to fulfill with others that placed their order after me were served ahead of me. Not the crazy frantic assembly line like in the Sunnyvale location I have visited, but then I have noticed things do not go at broadband speed out here on the east coast. This Tuesday there was some kind of crazy friction going on behind the counter about some of the more salient details of each order. So with a lot of time on my hands I filled up my fountain drink and started to shell out the salted peanuts out the barrel and watched the show behind the counter and around me with the 'unique' behavior of the 'parade of humanity' come and go around me. I think the one in Sunnyvale was much better run than this location. As a result I would not recommend or return. read more

I don't get the hype or the crazy comparison to In and Out Burger. This place is not even remotely on par with In and Out and to even put it in the same category is insane. Five Guy's is your typical greasy burger joint where you choose what you want on the burger and pay far too much for the quality of ingredients put on. The beef quality here is about the same as Wendy's or Burger King (basically a step above McDonalds).The fries and hot dogs were nothing to write about and quite frankly most of the food lack any fresh flavor. I'd never thought I'd be one to review a fast-food place. Friends of mine who live in southern CT raved about Five Guy's and demanded that we try it when we were in the area. So, we took them up on it. Walking in, the place was covered in newspaper articles and quotes praising the restaurant. Bags of potatoes and peanuts lined the walls. The cooks and cashiers could clearly be seen working, the burgers lined up to be made and wrapped. I liked that. There was also a sign showing where that day's potatoes came from (some farm in Idaho). The cashier was friendly and took our orders with a smile. The others making the burgers seemed less friendly, more gruff, as they moved like a well-oiled machine and called out orders. But they weren't as gruff as they appeared, because one of them came over to help my father, who noticed he forgot to order an extra burger. Although the line was rather long, it took about ten minutes for my dad to re-order the extra burger and for us to get our order. After stocking up on ketchup, we took it back the hotel we were staying at. Onto the food: the fries were absolutely delicious. Fried in peanut oil and unsalted, they were just perfect, in my opinion (we didn't get the Cajun kind). I got a bacon double cheeseburger, with lettuce, tomato, and barbecue sauce. The burger was HUGE, and greasy, but that's how I prefer my burgers anyhow (hence why I only eat them once every couple of months or less). The bun was eggy-tasting and got soggy, but I didn't mind that. I thought the food overall was great, and definitely some of the best fast food I've had so far. Was Five Guys worth the hype? In my opinion, I think so. I'm very much a fan, and would love to go back when I'm the area again. read more

Ordered a double bacon burger (paid extra for the bacon obviously), when unwrapping both burgers, neither one had bacon on it. -F for customer service- the place was EMPTY, and there was no reason for everyone to be helping another coworkers look for her keys rather than doing their job and not screwing up a customer's order. Tip: check your food before leaving! I know I should have....will not be eating here again. Just read the other reviews, too many people are right about the non-existence of customer service here. I have a love-hate relationship with Five Guys. I like them because they're a step up from McDonalds but I hate them for their in-your-face bragging of making the world's best burger. It's simply not true. But from the looks of the hundreds of signs on the walls, you would think their burgers are hand crafted from the gods on Mount Olympus. I mean, c'mon, I counted 10 posters in the men's restroom. Do I really need to read about East Tennessee voting them best family dining for the year while standing at a urinal? From what I can tell the Washington DC area must have some piss poor eating selections because most of the accolades come from that area. Is Five Guys really the best burger for that region? Really? My guess is the marketing guys at Five Guys HQ are the type of people who kiss themselves in the mirror every morning. Plus, when you add up the cost of everything; a burger/fries/drink at Five Guys costs about the same at Chili's restaurant ($11.50). Chili's makes a better burger than Five Guys. The only difference is Chili's doesn't give you a truckload of french fries capable of feeding 75 people. And Chili's makes their burger the old fashioned way, with one patty *oh gasp*. Five Guys uses 2 small patties because that's faster to cook than 1 big patty. I've said this before and I'll say this again, but what's up with the cheap-ass white corrugated signs? It looks like they were printed at Kinkos. I mean, geez, even the restroom signs are made of the corrugated plastic. It just gives the impression that Five Guys is run on a shoestring budget and run from somebody's basement. These guys expand their business at 5 franchises per week, you'd think they have some money for some better marketing material. Stapling hundreds of signs to a wall isn't very professional looking. Lastly, if you think Five Guys did a cool job in making the outside of this building look like a 1950's diner. Think again. It was like that long before Five Guys bought the building. I love me some Five Guys! This one has the cool looking aluminum diner exterior. It's always a good sign when you walk into a restaurant during lunch time and it's filled with a bunch of business men and construction workers on their lunch breaks. We had two hamburgers and an order of fries. The burgers were great and had all the condiments as ordered. I am docking one star because our fries were a bit on the soggy side.
