I normally don't like writing negative reviews, especially for a place I usually enjoy but I feel that my recent experiences warrant one. First I'll start off by saying that I've been coming to this Five Guys since the day they opened a few years back. The food is always delicious and if I were reviewing them based solely on the food I'd easily give them 5 stars. However, this review will be focusing on their service, specifically when ordering through Uber Eats. When they first opened, their employees were welcoming, energetic, hard working and focused. No wrong orders. Not once. Until recently. Now, I understand that people make mistakes and orders might get messed up once in a while. No biggie. We're human, it happens. But when it happens 3 times in a row, for the simplest of orders (Bacon Hamburger, Large Fries) and they do absolutely nothing to make it right, that's a bit different. Apparently Five Guys does not provide any training to their employees on what to do if an order placed through Uber Eats gets messed up because each time this happened, no one knew what to do. All I was told was "call Uber" or "bring the order back". Obviously, if going there in person was an option I wouldn't have used Uber Eats to begin with. Each employee I spoke to was clueless and rude, including the manager and one employee even hung up on me. They refused to refund me and they refused to correct the orders each time. It was left completely up to me to make it right, meaning I would either have to go there in person (again, not an option at the time) or contact Uber and rectify it through them while still being left without food. Five Guys needs to have their employees properly trained for orders placed through Uber Eats and they need to have a procedure in place for when orders are not prepared correctly. A little refresher course on the basics of customer service wouldn't hurt either. Maybe it's my fault for giving them 3 chances but, hey, when you're craving Five Guys and your options are limited you say "eff it, I'll give them another shot". Never again. So, if you're ordering through Uber Eats, good luck because if you receive the wrong order, you're gonna be pretty hangry. read more

The location of this burger joint kinda restricts the traffic of customers as its right off Harrison Path Station while most commuters are in a rush to go home or in transit. I happen to have to be here for business and while waiting for my ride I can usually generously spend time in the restaurant. The place is spacious and clean (not many people eat in). I love burgers here. I've tried bacon and burgers and I always have all the toppings on (all the way, as they call it) The fries are good too. I still don't understand how peanuts go with burgers but it's always good to have freebies. Now wherever I'm getting in Harrison, all I think about is the burger and I can't wait to get off the path. read more

We ordered take-out from Five Guys for lunch at work and we even called our orders in so we could just pick it up immediately. This place is right by the Harrison path. Parking for diners here is free at the Harrison Parking Garage. Their burgers are good. But not a fan of the soggy & bland fries from this branch . It took about 10-15 minutes to get here due to normal Newark/Harrison traffic. And although we called ahead, still had to wait 15-20 minutes since they messed up our order (I recommend doing online ordering instead). read more

Stopped by to pick up my dinner. Ordered a little hamburger with my normal toppings us grilled jalapeños with Little Fries (which are not so little) and a bottle water. The girl who took my order was new, but she was very friendly. The other staff, who's always there, always recognizes me and always brings my order out to me when they're not busy. Me and my coworkers make the trek from Newark a few times a month for lunch. Not only does Five Guys have the best burgers, but this particular location is by far the best five guys I've ever been to. The burgers are so simple, but so delicious. The proportions of toppings to meat, and the simple bun is perfection. I would take this over any so called "gourmet" burger any day. For starters, I love the topping selections. Its great that they will put condiments on for you...not many places do that anymore! The staff is fast, efficient and super friendly. They will even bring the food to your table if you have a large party. They go above and beyond with customer service. read more

We placed an order and they guy said it will be done in 15 minutes then we came inside the store and asked for our order and they young man didn't give us our order. We waited and waited and it became a horrible experience because we patiently waited and an 30 minutes go by and still not prepared then they said the order was given to someone else. So frustrating! Then I called to ask about my order and the young Spanish guy said ok and left the phone on the counter and just heard him scream Yo but never came back on the phone. Stopped at Five Guys in Harrison after taking the path on 4th of July. My husband and I have never encountered such friendly service in our lives! We joked that they must have thought he was the president of the company. This particular location has impressed me on several occasions due to the positive attitude of the staff. There have been times when my order was even delivered to my table instead of simply having my number called out. For a busy location, this restaurant is also kept very clean. This chain isn't a "five star" atmosphere, but for what it serves, it's a five star meal! Five Guys burgers are my absolute favorite and have consistently trumped gourmet ones I've tried in other parts of the country. I had pretty high expectations for this place, and unfortunately, I was very disappointed. My burger (2 patties, cheese, onions) was bland and greasy. I know all the different toppings are a big draw, but at a place like this, the beef should be tasty all on its own, and it wasn't. Fries were terrible - completely tasteless and a greasy mess. However, the employees were nice, and they have one of those neat electronic soda machines that has like a hundred combinations (and yet no ginger ale...sigh). HAMBURGERS, HAMBURGERS OH MY! I believe I have found the remedy to my In an Out deficiency. This hamburger was juicy, burned on the edges and the buns were magnifico. The fries were great and the atmosphere was nice. We went on a Saturday afternoon 2wks ago and it wasn't crowed and the workers so nice. It was spotless, the restrooms were clean and the front was clean a place I could feel comfortable eating in. I hope the other locations are just as great as this one. This place gets the job done. I got what i ordered and that's all i need. I have realistic expectations when i go to fast food chains. Usual stop after a NY Red Bulls game. Lines can get a little long but the staff gets them moving quickly. Little Bacon Cheeseburger all the way with Cajun fries is the way to go, not to off set the balance of the previously consumed alcohol. I was glad that they offer parking across the street at the hotel parking lot, but make sure to keep your receipt. Excellent. I have no complaints about this place except it being pricey for me. I used to go to the Madison location. The burger here was hot and juicy and tasted fresh, as did the other ingredients. I am a true hamburger Snob and I work as a make up artist and so customer service is paramount to my work ... I'd never been to this restaurant before and I will not repeat the visit .. When I walked in the staff looked at me as if I had 3 heads .. I was new and felt .. Unwelcome . I spoke to the cashier and made my order .. The young lady behind the counter was pleasant. But I sensed a " who the hell are you attitude "... I placed my order. And paid. And waited. Several more people came in. There was a third crew member who made the fries while they young lady made the burger. When the order was finished the third guy called out the number looking at anyone but me and I said. That's my order and he looked at me as if I threw something at him and snidely said "ok here" I took home my " dinner " which was awful the hamburger was mediocre and the fries were greasy and seemed old ... I was disappointed. All Around I would not go back .. Based on the service I sure the servers will be glad .. But my readers see these Reviews and so does any Yelp subscriber so. ... It's been established that I like the Five Guys brand. This link on the chain is a little weaker than the others I've experienced. The Fies are smaller, dining room is more crowded and organization is, well less organized. The food is still classic Five Guys but the experience is more Mickey D's. I went to Five Guys in Harrison for the first time the other night, and I have to say I was completely underwhelmed. I received an overcooked, tepid, and tasteless burger with a piece of unmelted cheese on a stale, sad bun. Most of the syrups in the soft drink system were empty, leaving me with a glass of water on my first try and a glass of seltzer on my second.
