Satisfies the burger itch! While it Secaucus I was looking for somewhere to have a good burger and Wayback Burger was around the corner. Inside is clean and reminiscent of Shake N Steak for those that know that place. Ordering was on a kiosk so you barely have any interaction with staff. The had a good offering of fountain drinks along with lemonade that while you are dining in are free refills. I ordered The Wayback Classic and Fries. The fries were cooked perfectly and had a side of Wayback sauce which was a tangy yellow sauce similar to carolina gold BBQ sauce. The burger was nice but the bread didn't seem 100% fresh. But still it was good. Overall you can't go wrong with Wayback if you are looking to scratch that burger itch. read more

I rarely say burger places are bad but this one was definitely one of the worst I've had. I don't know if this is because I visited late at night around 9-10pm ish but anyways. The bun was so dry and unflavorful. The chicken was also so tough and overly crispy and fried, same with the fries. Milkshake was also quite bland and just tasted like a sugary milky solution with no strong good chocolate flavor. For high end burger places (as opposed to fast food) I am not sure I could say there is something more unique about this place than others, but it delivers a solid burger option. They only have 4 signature burgers but there's the option to customize toppings for other choices. They also have chicken, fish, veggie sandwich options and salads. The milkshake list looked intriguing but kind of expensive so I passed. Classic burger + fries didn't take too long, and they make it fresh. Luckily no one else was waiting so it was pretty quick. Burger was thick and juicy. Fries were good but anything magical. It's definitely a satisfying meal option, but just the basic-est burger and fries was more than $10. Any extra toppings or drinks would be closer to $15 and you're getting quality but at a cost. The employees were nice and helpful, the interior was clean, and the food was good. WOW!!! What can I say about the amazing staff. We walked in a party of 20 for my son's birthday and the staff was amazing at welcoming us and executing our large order. The cashier even put each name matched to the order so there was no confusion of who got what. Needless to say the food was also amazing as were the milkshakes. The kids had a blast and I will definitely be making this my local burger spot. The only downfall would be that they don't have combo meals so you pay for everything separately. My first observation: A failed attempt at rivaling Shake Shack. The other half and I gave it a shot and, personally, I found it neither good nor bad. I'll travel far and wide for a good burger, so I had high hopes. I had the rodeo burger and fries. Food took a bit to come out. It was greasy. Very greasy. The bun on the burger was very soft and doughy, similar to what you'd pull out of the bun bag you buy at shop rite before toasting it. It wasn't bad, and tasted "fine," but was just mediocre. Our one side order came out after we finished the burgers, which wasn't convenient. I'm this fast, casual, burger category, BurgerFi in Harmon Meadow gave this spot a run for it's money, as does a simple Five Guys, but Shake Shack far surpasses it. For what we paid here, Cubby's in Hackensack offers a true, massive, delicious Angus burger for the same price. I'd recommend looking there for a burger that will change your life. read more

I cannot remember why I had this place bookmarked. My husband and I dropped in on a Saturday at around noon and decided to share a double cheeseburger before heading to the movies nearby. I like that you can add whatever toppings you like at no extra cost. We went with cheddar, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, jalapenos, mushrooms, and chipotle mayo. The burger itself was pretty good, along with all the toppings - but I didn't care for the bun. It was a basic floppy supermarket bun. I'm not sure if this was worth $9. But the two stars is really for the cleanliness of how they handle the food. I saw the employee pull down his masked with a gloved hand, and pop a tater tot into his mouth. Then I saw the same gloved hand using his cell phone. Same gloved hand went on to make the burgers and I don't recall seeing any switching of the gloves at any point. Made me not want my burger anymore but yes, I still ate it anyway and am still alive. And yes, I know a lot of this stuff goes on at restaurants but ignorance is bliss. It's one thing to do that if the kitchen is in the back because I'd be none the wiser. But the grill is in front, and everything is pretty much on display for the customer. Won't be coming back because of this, and also there are tons of better burger places for the same price or cheaper. I would definitely choose Shake Shack over this. Where's the adult responsible for this joint? This place seems to be run by teenagers, no adult over seeing them through out the time we were there. We were craving a burger and some out of town friends had really hyped up the wayback burger from their area. The restaurant is like most casual dining restaurants that are popping up. You order on a counter and they bring it to the table for you. A few options of different burgers and the option to make your own. Some sides, sodas and milkshakes. On the counter there's a sign to let them know of any allergies, which I told them I am allergic to gluten. My husband ordered the rodeo burger and I made my own lettuce "wrapped" burger. I say "wrapped" because it was the burger and toppings with a lettuce leave on the bottom and on the top, not wrapped just laid there. For sides I asked if the fries were fried on different fryers as the breaded chicken, onion rings and such, I was told yes. We then ordered the irish nachos to share. Upon sitting down, one of the teens working there tells me that they are supposed to use separate fryers but they don't always do so and mix ups can happen. Nevermind on the chips, my husband will havd it all, nevermind on any side for that matter since they are all fried. We get our burgers a good 10-15 min before the nachos. We were actually done with the burgers by the time it came to the table. We just wanted to leave so I went to the counter to ask for a box and I see one of the teens dunking a breaded chicken breast into the same fryer that the french fries were in. This is a new place I tried. I asked a few people while walking to the UPS store, which restaurant I should visit, all stated Wayback Burgers. The staff is friendly and you have a choice on how you want your burger made. I tried my burger it was so delicious. The Mango Habanero chicken sandwich is very delicious! The sauce is very sweet from the mango and the heat from the habanero pepper is very spicy. The spiciness lingers in my tongue and mouth even after I finished the sandwich. I wish I order the Key Lime Milkshake to soothe my burning tongue. Or some fries to ameliorate the heat, But I didn't know it was that spicy. lol. The service is very quick. They don't have this chain where I livev(NY) but I can definitely say it's much better than Shake Shack or even 5 Guys, in my opinion. To those saying 8 bucks for a burger, 8 bucks mean you ordered a double. A regular single patty burger is 5 dollars. Their meat, both burgers and grilled chicken, are high quality and very fresh and tasty. They let you season and top however you want, with a large variety of choices. Their shakes are what they are most known for, and this does not disappoint. Over ten flavors and again each one made from scratch to order the old fashioned way with real ice cream. I've been to a few Wayback Burgers before, but I have to say I really enjoyed my experience at this location. More than anything else, this was the cleanest Wayback Burgers I have ever been to before. The entire restaurant was spotless. During the entire duration of time we dined in, the workers were constantly cleaning tables as customers left. I've been to some significantly less clean locations, so this was a real highlight for me. In terms of food, the burgers were excellent. They were filling, but not heavy or super greasy which was nice. All the flavors tasted fresh. The food was prepared very quickly. I don't think 10 minutes had passed before we had our full orders served to us. The burgers, hotdogs, and french fries were all tasty and delicious. I definitely plan on returning! Pretty easy to find in a strip mall in Secaucus on the far left end. You can smell those burgers 3 stores away. Came in earlier this afternoon for a bite with the better half. She had a single with a side of fries and soda. I chose a classic, 2 burgers with the fixings ( chipotle mayo ) accompanied with very good onion rings & a strawberry/ banana shake. My shake was on the smaller size. Everything was very good on both sides of the table. Seems like there are a awful lot of folks working behind the counter. To be expected since it's a new place. Friendly and quick service. We received our food in about 5 minutes. Taking off one star as it is a little pricey. For the two of us bill came to $27.00. Every side is extra. The fries were still crispy which I loved the burger was also yummy and better than other fast food joints. I read some of the other reviews and decided to take my husband out for a burger for date night. The burgers are made to order with whatever toppings you want on it.
