I walked in with my family as the staff yelled "FOUR AT THE DOOR". I immediately knew I was in for a treat. I wondered what they all did when they picked up their prom dates. Did they yell "HOLY CRAP . . . IT'S A GIRL . . . AND SHE'S WILLING TO BE SEEN IN PUBLIC WITH ME." I mean come-on. Don't act so surprised. We're called 'customers' and we feel more confident eating there when you pretend like you've had some before us. But what a sad commentary on the state of all the other fast-food chains. People are so starved for the simple goodness of never-frozen beef loosely ground and shaped into a burger patty, and potatoes that are cut into matchsticks and deep fried, that they will endure eating at this place to get 'em. This chain has built a reputation for an intense focus on the raw ingredients; meat and potatoes. But this focus is something of an illusion. They choose to flaunt it juxtaposed to their blatant disregard for all other things that sane human beings might focus on . . . like decor, service, plates, cups, cleanliness, appropriately storing peanut oil and other kitchen products, etc. It's the restaurant equivalent of having an ugly friend to make yourself look better. They spend the time to tell you where the potatoes come from - cut them in the store - fry them to order - and serve them piping hot right out of the peanut oil. BUT . . . . Then they stick 32 oz. of fries into a 10oz cup. Why? To create the illusion of value? To make you think that the kid behind the counter gave you a freebie? "Please sir, don't tell the manager I'm giving away the store. You're just so special that I had to give you this many fries." But other than creating the illusion of value - what have they done by cramming piping hot, beautifully crispy fries into a tight container? They create the perfect environment for them to continue steaming in their residual heat, completely ruining their crispy exterior, causing them to limp up and soak in some grease. Hello! McFly! Don't spend the effort if you're going to do that to 'em. Side note - Do they intentionally hire people with number turrets? I'm trying to enjoy my burger, and I see a perfectly sane kid behind the counter, and out of the blue his face deforms as his voice changes into something inhuman and he bellows out "Seventy-One". Then with just as little notice - he goes back to being a regular teenage kid who doesn't want to be seen or heard - just blends into the background of the kitchen staff. Back to the food - Great burgers, could be great fries if they'd serve them correctly. But sadly, it was like taking my wife and kids out for a picnic in a Greyhound Bus station bathroom. read more

6/13/2020: Wife and I walked into this location for lunch, being that we had never tired this restaurant. First step was met with noise, loud music, and not a relaxing environment. Wife ordered a 'burger' with small extra crispy fries (i.e., well cooked). Upon receipt, was a coffee cup of half-cooked, mushy, french fry kernels or (semblance there of). Something that looked like they were 'pieces' swept up off the floor and 'cupped'. She took the cup to the pick-up counter where the male 'clerk' yelled so loud at her, indicating he could not hear her! This was so loud, over the noise, that the entire restaurant stopped, looked and wondered what the commotion was! She explained to him, that she had wanted them (extra crispy). He crabbed them from her and told the fry cooker. This was very embarrassing for my wife, and if we hadn't had our order, would have immediately left. We are now retired, and both military veterans. She was an Army teletype operator during the Vietnam War, and myself a combat radio operator in Vietnam, I-Corp area. These are both communications skilled MOS positions, and feel we know how to communicate very well. Our communications to this facility is to express our complete lack of interest to ever visit this facility again. On top of that, the fries are small piece of junk kernels that are cupped out, 1/2 cooked, mush in your mouth! We should have visited the 'Cafe Rio' next door. I think some of the hugely mixed reviews for Five Guys is that this is not a country diner burger...this is a city burger, with a setting that reflects that. Get it with everything...my bet is that some of the reviewers don't realize how many additives come into play at a regular fast food place to create that "juicy" burger with nothing else there. Right up there with Snake Bite for the best burgers in town. You can taste the freshness. The burgers are grilled up to order and the potatoes come from farms only a few miles away. They're quick and have the best fries in Idaho Falls--golden and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. read more

Great burgers. Awesome fries.... and very generous serving size. If you order the regular fries, it comes overflowing with twice as many fries as you think you'd get. Fresh and yummy. This quickly becoming my favorite place to get a burger. Every time I come my burger is juicy and delicious. I LOVE their pickles!! I don't know where they get them but they're wonderful! As for the fries most the time they're really good but sometimes they're over cooked. You can get either regular fries or Cajun fries. The Cajun fries are my favorite. They are a bit on the pricey side but well worth the money. read more

My friend took me to 5 guys to have a burger, he paid. I would never spend my money on such poor food. The burger was warm, and so was the lettuce and tomato. They didn t have spread for a topping, the burger was very dry and tasteless. I thinks that Five Guys is just a fake, In-and-Out Burger. FIve Guys is less than 2 miles from my house, and In-and-Out Burger is 165 miles away in Riverdale, Utah, In-and-Out Burger is close and Five Guys in far away. Enough Said!! read more

I wanted to express my admiration and gratitude for the manager and crew if this store in Idaho. A week or more ago, I arrived at the front entrance of Five Guys Burgers and Fries as a mother driving alone across country with two little girls. We were road weary, hungry, and ready to check in to the hotel across the street. Our clock was set to Pacific Standard time and it appeared to my bleary mind we had an hour to spare before closing time. Of course, Idaho is Mountain time zone. The store was virtually empty and the crew was looking forward, I am sure, to getting out of there a.s.a.p. But the manager, Darryl, assured me that they would be happy to serve us. Reluctantly, we entered and were treated politely and patiently by the young but professional crew. It would appear we even were treated to larger than normal orders of fries:) Kudos to all the young men working that night. I have worked in restaurants and know the sinking feeling of seeing the late table walk in the door. In a time when customer service is a lost art, you guys made us feel welcome. Also, Darryl risked extreme unpopularity with his crew by treating us so graciously. It was appreciated more than he knows. The food was delicious. If you're looking for an average greasy burger place, then this place is for you. I enjoyed my burger and fries, but it was nothing to freak out about. They do give you an ample amount of fries which is nice. Not my first choice, but I wouldn't avoid it. Probably make just as good of a burger on my own grill at home. read more

Having been to Five Guys in other states and knowing that they have fresh cut french fries -- very rare -- I stopped in at the Idaho Falls location. Glad I did. Heads and shoulders above every other chain IMO, including In and Out. I will never understand how anybody could seriously suggest that In and Out is better unless they are stupid or have no taste. read more

No let it be know that I LOVE 5 guys, however unless you got 30-45 to wait for your food don't go! They used to be really good, now they are just slow and inconsiderate. They aren't really rude but they definitely aren't acting the way 5 guys employees are supposed to. This place is great. I love the burgers here for sure but I give them 5 stars because they have great customer service. We went on the 4th of July when it was really busy and they gave us free drinks for the wait and put an extra burger patty on all our burgers. Great people and great service. read more

First time going in and sure made my night awesome, such great and funny staff. Sure made the long drive worth it!!!!

I have been to Five Guys over a dozen times and it can be hit or miss sometimes. My one big complaint would be the extremely loud music. I also just had a plain bad cheeseburger this last time. The burger was dry and the roll was left on the grill way too long, it was crunchy and hard around the edges and underneath the edge was black. I do like the choices you get and the fries are good, but they are a little pricey. read more
