Five Guys Kingston, NY
Christian L.

Awesome! In the restaurant space it isn't hard to succeed: all you have to do, is have juicy fresh food and welcome the customers. This Five Guys is barely 2 weeks old when I stop by. Peanuts were not offered, but they had the bags laid out. The 5 guys staff here, are friendly and say "hello, how are you?" All around classic East Coast burgering. This joint in Kingston, rocks. Rebel review: 5 stars

I like Five Guys. Today was no different. I (5 star) love their fries and I (3 star) like their burgers. I'm a big guy but still, I suggest the Cheeseburger Jr. The meat to bun ratio on the regular has too much meat for my liking. Order one (1) large fry and feed your entire family for a week. These are awesome and throw on some Heinz ketchup and maybe some malt vinegar to mix it up. Eat right out of the bag. The appetizers are the peanuts and they are decent and plentiful. Don't fill up on them even though they are free. The soda machine has 1000s of combination choices so I'll Come right out and say "Mello Yello with Cherry". Be brave! Oh and no, I don't want to try your shakes but thanks. It's fast food but will give you the greasy burger fix you need. Kingston location is fairly clean, conveniently located but the parking is a bit tricky. The lot is somewhat small so you have to do some maneuvering.

****** ROUND UP: For take out, personalization, and quantity, Five Guys is the way to go. This Five Guys lacks a little consistency though. If you're looking for meals and are willing to compromise customization for quality, hit up one of the many other surrounding eateries. Compared to other Five Guys: 3/5 Compared to other fast food in the same area: 3/5 Compared to fast food and burger chains all around: 2/5 "Fine," all around, but don't expect to be wowed or for it to really hit the spot. ******* Service: 4/5 Not really a service-heavy restaurant (I mean it's fast food). Very quick and efficient. Atmosphere: 2/5 Regular Five Guys white and red. Kind of depressing. Bad halogen lighting. The tables and chairs didn't look inviting and mostly looked a little... sticky :/ .I know Five Guys doesn't do drive through, but there's a reason no one's eating in here. (This is all in comparison to other Five Guys I've been to.) Cleanliness: 3/5 "Clean enough." Not as clean as most of the surrounding fast food joints, such as the Taco Bell. The metal counters and things were wiped down, but like I said, there looked like there was a sticky dust on the windows. It's been cleaner before and that also made it seem less depressing, so maybe I'm just posting this on a bad day. Product: 3.5/5 (Using Five Guys and Fast-food as a litmus. No comparison to fine dining etc.). While I had a bad experience today, my other experiences with this place have been about the norm for any five guys I've been to. Plenty of fries, however you order them. Same as most FGs. The vegan burgers are a little small, hard, and sad but that's consistent of the brand, not this location. Lots of options just like any, and they usually are only out of two ingredients at a time consistently (usually not the same). The draw of the FGs brand is quantity and lots of personalization, which can be found here. Quality..... eh go elsewhere. There are better burgers all around. -------- Bad Day Experience 2/5 Just a review for today b/c they wouldn't let me post my check in. Service and atmosphere, the usual. 4/5 Cleanliness: lower than average for a fast food place in the area. Lower than it's been on other visits. Actual food: 2/5 (I mean it didn't make me sick, but it was worse than usual). Come on Five Guyssss. Usually one of my favorite places to get fries, but today a big disappointment. I got a large Fries and large soda to share. What ever happened to filling the bag???? There were barely any fries. They were spicier than usual (which I don't mind at all), but it felt like I was getting the amount of spice that was intended for the amount of fries I usually get. On top of that, the soda I got was almost flat and tasted watered down. Big disappointment today :/

YUMMMM. I'm not a burger person but this is the only burger I'll actually crave. Crispy and juicy. And the fries are really good too.

The person working the grill yelled at me and my son on three separate occasions. At first, I thought it might have been a misunderstanding or just trying to be heard over the noise, but it continued. The last instance was especially frustrating my 4-year-old had just come out of the bathroom and was happily running to his mom, and I was yelled at to make sure he stopped running from the bathroom to the seating area. I've been to many places with my child and have never experienced anything like this. Because of that, we won't be coming back.

We wanted to order to go for friends and had to order it at the same time since they were closing, but they were kind enough to double bag to keep it hot. Also since they were closing we got our food wrapped to go, no options for trays, which was challenging for the kids but we made it work. Also, a mouse ran by but i think it came in from the outside and ran right back outside- they have to eat too i guess. The food comes out super quickly. Love the refillable fountain drinks with real cane sugar!

Excellent. People are too hard on this place -- there is no one else trying this concept in the…read morearea, let alone with quality ingredients at this price point. It's true the wait times are long if it's busy, but that's where my complaints end. Produce is always fresh, service is friendly, and the menu is limited, which I think is one of its virtues. I'm gluten free and I can get either a GF bun or lettuce wrap, meat or Impossible or veggie burger. Fries are solid, shakes delicious. If you pre-order or prepare for a slightly longer wait, you won't be disappointed. Fast food is now incredibly expensive in addition to being heavily processed garbage. If I'm craving McDonald's, I'll go get that, but my cheeseburger was $9 and better than anything I've had in the area. I'm usually down to wait a little longer for a much higher quality product for around the same price.

Now here's the thing- we've never been inside, never stepped foot in here or even rolled through the drive-thru. Hubs ordered a cheeseburger and honestly? It looked like a Smash Burger with those crispy edges. If I was a meat eater, I would've taken a bite of hubs' cheeseburger because it looked good. For me, he ordered a "grilled cheese"- made on potato bread bun. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Tell me why when I opened my grilled cheese, the top bun was upside down. So now you gonna tell me the top bun did a somersault during transport? He also ordered a "ganache" chocolate shake topped with whipped cream. Listen... if you're going to call something ganache, it better live up to the name. The shake tasted like vanilla ice cream doused in brown, sugary syrup. I totally get it- when you're here, stick with what they're named for. Don't go for cute- go for the burgers.

A little quaint gem (a bit eclectic) that serves comfort foods in a friendly atmosphere…read more Their menu consists of various chicken sandwiches (fried, grilled or cauliflower), burgers, all day breakfast, soups and salads. We enjoyed the Figgy chicken sandwich (fig jam, plentiful greens, cheese and chicken, bun could have been better quality) with salad (pretty fresh), and the Caesar chicken sandwich with fries. The server (owner?) was very friendly and explained the menu, saying specifically that the chicken sandwiches are made to order. There were only two other occupied tables on a Saturday afternoon and the food took a little while to come out (not very bad but not super fast). It also seems like a place that should be crowded but wasn't. Coffee was self service. They also had a pumpkin pie in a plastic container (didn't look homemade) in the front. There's a little children's play area in the back. And the unisex bathroom was very large. It's located on a street with lots of shops and other eateries (pizza etc).

Our waitress was very nice, really chill, checked in once but if we had flagged her over I'm sure she would have been attentive more but we just didn't need anything. We ordered two different versions of their chicken sandwiches and they both were amazing! I ordered the club and substituted out for the Big Mac sauce, it was ridiculously delicious! The owner/chef I believe came over after our food was served which was really nice to check in and offered some future suggestions that we'll be sure to take her up on. The food was cooked to order, super fresh and a lot of details that made it a perfect bite! Cute place with a variety of seating options, the old brick work pops through in some places which adds a really nice historic charm to the place. We'll definitely be back to give a few more menu items a try!

This whole time, I really thought this place was inside a cozy hotel about 2 blocks over. Guess you learn something new every day. We pulled up on a Thurs. around 4 with no res. and got seated real quick. Restaurant K. is airy, chic and gives a relaxed vibe. The menu is on the smaller side, but honestly, there's something for every eating style. We kept things light instead of diving into something heavy. Our spring greens salad was really good: hefty mound of mixed greens, lima beans, string beans and a hint of dill to make everything pop. Hubs had the double-stacked burger with white cheddar on a potato bun and loved it. I had high hopes for the hush puppies because they sounded amazing on paper- but they were doughy than corny and threw me off. Then came dessert. Again- sounded great on paper. It kinda feels like desserts get a "reinvented" treatment here(?). For instance, the strawberry shortcake was deconstructed: a few chunks of white cake, some diced strawberries and whipped cream. Totally unexpected. I ordered the 'Fun-Fetti Dunkaroos' with madeleines because they caught my eye, but they're smaller than standard. The food isn't bad at all. We were just caught off guard by how some of our selections were prepped. What really saved the evening were the cocktails. They were beautifully made and had a lot of strength. No watered-down nonsense here! Plus, our server Karina(?) was super sweet. I asked if I could try the passion fruit purée to see if it was the real deal for one of the cocktails I ordered and she brought me a little sample. Passed the test!
