Just left their Magnolia location on FM 1488. When I went up to get my order a black girl didn't say thank you, enjoy or let us know if you need anything, she just walked off. I went back to get napkins and ketchup for the fries and did the same to the next order. She needs retraining, put on trash duty or fired because she definitely doesn't belong near customers. Secondly, I ordered the double cheeseburger with fries and asked for mayonnaise and catchup, they didn't put either instead just mustard. I know you can't control customers, but when the employees (ALL but two) are mouthing off and using profanity, it's disgusting to sit and listen to while trying to enjoy your meal. About every third word was F*ck from one particular employee. There were families with small children dining. One customer who was talking with the staff and spewing the "F" word, actually leaned over the counter. She grabbed something from underneath the counter and continued laughing and saying F*ck in front of the man and his little girl. Why 4 stars? Because this is a great guilty pleasure. --- --- --- I get Five Guys a handful of times a year when I'm having serious comfort food cravings. This was one of those days. My go to order is a bacon cheeseburger with grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, lettuce and BBQ sauce. But most importantly, a "little" Cajun fries is an absolute requirement. A little is the largest portion of fries you could ever imagine. It's hard to picture how many fries you would get with the bigger portions. But aside from the size, I love the cajun seasoning and wish it was universal for all fries. Here are my two pet peeves: 1) I visited March 27, 2022. It's clear they still require employees to wear masks, which is just preposterous. When these people have to stand over a hot grill all day, I cannot imagine how uncomfortable it must be to wear a mask. And for what purpose? They do nothing and no customers wear them, so it's just optics? At the sacrifice of the employees? It's just gross. 2) This is universal no matter what Five Guys I have ever visited. I always ask for BBQ sauce to dip my fries into. They fill the dipping cup up to about 15% capacity. I specifically asked for 4 of them because I knew this would happen. Sure enough, it did. Pretty unhappy with my experience. It cost $40 without drinks to feed myself, my 15 year old and my 3 year old. Nowhere else on the planet does it cost $8 to get a cheeseburger for a 3 year old in a casual dining/ fast food place. It's time for a kids menu. I'm sure many people have that same complaint. My biggest issue is that it's July in Texas and the inside temperature inside the building matched the outside at 7:40 pm. It is currently 89 degrees which is not as bad as it could be, but absolutely ridiculous inside of a dining establishment. I became Sick half way through my meal because I was so overheated. So I couldn't even enjoy my $12 hamburger that will now be soggy by the time I get home. Waste of my time and money. I should have gone anywhere but here. The size and quality of the burger I thought was pretty good. Fries come in three sizes and were pretty good. They were skin on fries and they were hot. Hot fries are always the best. So what would I have done different if I come back. I would have ordered the small fries and the smaller single paddy burger as what I ordered was just a bit too big for me. I also think they tossed in extra fries in my order because for a regular order it was a lot. They strive to keep the place clean and the people here were very friendly. Five Guys is one of my guilty pleasures. It is not the best burger, but they come out hot, greasy, and are made when you order. The patty could definitely use some more seasoning but 1) the favor it does have is always consistent, 2) I dig a thin patty, and 3) the vegetables are always crisp and fresh. The fries are piping hot and a good consistency. Don't worry about running out either, even with a "small" order there are PLENTY of them overflowing from the container and into the bag. As a franchise, Five Guys hardly ever disappoints. I've been to several locations on the East Coast and wondered what it'd be like to visit my first Texan Five Guys but I'm happy to report that they turn out a quality meal, no matter the location. The restaurant feels like any other fast food restaurant, but it's clean and offers plenty of seating within the L-shaped space. The menu is pretty minimalist; besides hot dogs and fries, the prime focus here is on burgers, and all of them are made fresh on the grill. With a whole slew of free toppings (including grilled onions and mushrooms, for which I'd willingly pay anywhere else), it's hard not to go nuts and order it "all the way," which is Five Guy's way of saying, 'Throw everything in the kitchen on there!' As a vegetarian, I'm pleased to report that the patty-less burger (in which the mushrooms stand in for the meat) is just as hearty, fresh, and filling. The fries were a little less than stellar for us. I'm typically a huge fan of the freshly-made fries, and I LOVE the way they throw an extra scoop of fries into every order. However, they were a little lukewarm during my last visit, which confounded me since I watched them pull it straight out of the fryer. A few things to note if you're a first-timer: - The 'regular' burgers here will come with two patties so if you're looking for a single patty, make sure to ask for a 'little' burger. - Fries can be ordered in plain or cajun-style, no extra charge. - Everything is cooked in peanut oil, and there's a huge bin of free peanuts in the shell to snack on while you wait for your order. I'm always excited to try a new restaurant but why did the sweet cashier tell me they had to cook their hamburgers well done because of E Coli? Thoughts of the movie Food Inc just flashed through my brain and the horrific condition's cows live in till their ultimate demise. It does make a huge difference what the cow eats while alive. It will affect the ultimate flavor of your hamburger or steak. Now if you're a food connoisseur like me you may know this and be able to taste the difference. I ordered a double cheeseburger. I thought that $5.59 was a bit pricey for just the burger alone. Well I was not impressed. The meat was flavorless and the cheese was extremely lacking a good American Cheese flavor. Tasted more like a generic cheese product not the real thing. In case you're not aware American cheese is made 2 ways. The first is like Boars head American cheese that is real cheese 100% and you can taste the quality. The second way is the American cheese product like many sliced package cheeses which has many blah fillers. Actually Kraft makes both kinds. I don't suggest buying the one that says pasteurized product. So for a fast food joint with an expensive blah double meat burger with blah double cheese is not going to bring me back. They do allow you to order mushrooms and other condiments without an add'l charge but who cares if the main burger is mediocre. The small fries are huge and were seasoned but the seasoning had the most salt content of any seasoned fry I ever had. They kept the skin on but they just didn't taste farm fresh either. It appears that they are using fresh lettuce and tomatoes but that wasn't enough to improve the low quality meat and cheese. Also notice on the wall their awards for best burger for 2004 - 2007. Well that's fine but it's 2011 and it seems like Five Guys Burger and Fries need some current improvements. Staff very professional. Otherwise 2 star. read more
