We were thrilled to hear that Five Guys was opening up close to the Woodlands, and visited this store on 1488 near 2978 the day after it opened. What we got was the prototypical Five Guys experience: A very good burger, friendly service, and a sparkling clean location. Unlike some other "better burger" places, Five Guys hasn't forgotten that value is part of the equation. Our only beef? The orders of fries are just too big. Even a small is way too much for one person. So we just skip the fries, which is a shame because they're pretty darned good. Bottom line: Go. I usually like going to 5 Guys, but this location has been awful. The burgers were bland, and missing some ingredients. They are notoriously skimpy with the fries. We go to other locations and the four of us can barely finish the large fries. Here, when we get a large fry, it's a cup full of fries and a few more in the bag ...less than half the fries of other locations. They also don't offer shakes which is disappointing. I was so upset after I left today. It cost me 12 dollars for a burnt burger, greasy, overcooked fries, and a small drink. That's INSANE! I'm a young business owner so finances are ALWAYS tight and I went there expecting greasy quick cheap food. Well I got the first two parts, but 12 dollars!! For a little burger and little fries!? I could have gone to Panera! At least then the food wouldn't have had grease dripping through the bag. I won't ever be back. That cost me over 1/6 of my entire food budget for the week. After a morning round of golf my family and I wanted to get a burger. This five guys was close by so we stopped by and were impressed. The seating area was very clean and so was the floor considering they allow you to throw your peanut shells on the floor. The burger itself was cooked to perfection. I got the bacon cheeseburger with cheese, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, and bbq sauce. The Cajun fries were also cooked perfectly. Truth be told, it is not the best burger in the world. The meat is thin, average flavor. However, the toppings offered are extensive, taste good, and the product is very consistent. Burger will usually drip all over your hand as you eat... Fries are quite good, skin is left on, not over salted, and very tasty. Staff is very friendly. Atmosphere is relaxed. Staff is constantly cleaning the place and it shows. Peanuts are open for the taking while you wait for your burger (so if you have peanut allergies, I would not even go near this place). Paid $30 for 2 burger, fries, and drinks. We would have gotten one small fry because it could feed 2 people easily. Also, the small burger is a single patty and the regular burger is a double. The sizing wasn't communicated at the register so we had way to much food. The burger itself was something would would make at home with some ground meat, HEB buns, and some cheap vegetables, not Whole Foods quality vegetables by any means. Our first and last time to visit Five Guys Burgers. Overall a big disappointment. First, the posted menu is very misleading. A $7.69 cheeseburger is actually a double burger, but this is NOT posted on the menu. A "Little Cheeseburger" (I thought it was a kids size burger) is a $5.69 single patty cheeseburger. Would have been nice to know I was ordering a double cheeseburger, when in fact I only wanted a single burger. The cheddar cheese is far from natural cheddar. Not quite sure what it is made of, but the "cheese" definitely takes away from the overall taste of the burger. My wife ordered the vegetarian sandwich, she named it CONDIMENTS ON A BUN. It was a bunch of lettuce, peppers, tomato and onion between 2 buns, no veggie burger to be found anywhere. 5 Guys got me for $4.39. The shelled peanuts are a nice addition, but certainly don't make up for the misleading marketing that 5 Guys offers their customers. This was the most disappointing meal we have had in years. The only thing worse than a highly unattractive woman taking your order is a highly unattractive woman who doesn't know how to talk to customers. I was selecting toppings for my burger and she seemed to be very impatient. I told her I wanted the meal. "We don't have a meal." She said with a tone as if she were offended. "Everything comes separately." "Okay...then I'll have fries and a drink with that..." This woman clearly lacked intelligence. I guess they didn't want to call it a "meal" because it costs over $15. Wow. Okay, this oughta be a really good burger, I told myself. It was mediocre. The form was off, the patty fell apart because there was too much grease, and the fries sucked. The cheese that they used was creamy and had bubbled up like the cheapest cheese you can buy at the grocery store. The ugly woman sat across the dining room from me and I switched chairs to face away from her. She was being impatient because she wanted to go on break and stuff her face with a burger. My appetite was taking a beating. I paid $15 for this meal and I was gonna try to finish it. I couldn't. I find the burgers to be subpar for the price. Fries are okay, sort of like homemade. Drinks taste terrible, maybe that's the water quality in the area.
