Why 4 stars? Because it landed about right where I expected it to. --- --- --- For a long time, I'd heard about how Becks Prime allegedly had one of the best burgers in Greater Houston. I was skeptical how this would be possible with a sub-4 rating, but I was also too intrigued to not eventually try it for myself. Trying it finally happened, and yeah, it really was what I thought. The Bill's Burger (noted as the most popular) was perfectly fine. Nothing really stood out about it. I didn't love it or hate it, it was just kind of there. I would compare it to like an In-N-Out burger, and definitely below the tier of Five Guys. But I also almost never eat fast food, so I don't really consider that company to be very complimentary. I also heard that the steak sandwich was amazing, and I did enjoy it more, but it's not something I'd be rushing back to try again. It was perfectly fine too. I did enjoy the parmesan fries, especially with the side of BBQ sauce for dipping. And the people working here were very friendly. But would this even crack a Top 50 burger list for me? First of all- it feels like there is no HVAC system in this place. As soon as you walk in the door, you are hit with the heat from outside. Heat aside, I've been wanting to try this place for a while. I keep hearing about these Parmesan French fries. We order the filet with the parm fries and the rib eye with the loaded bake potato. Hoping to cool off and maybe be able to ignore the heat, we order Chardonnay and a sweet tea. Nope- the heat factor continues to bother even after a glass of wine. The food came out, I was excited by the HUGE basket of parm fries. To their credit, Beck's has a hit on their hands with this menu item. Perfectly cooked with just the right amount of Parmesan. I have been wanting to try best crime for the longest. I always forget about them well today they were having a special Bogo burgers and I decided to stop in to give them a try so glad I did. Service was absolutely amazing. I thought I would have a long wait to get my food, but it came out hot fresh in no time the cashier was very helpful in helping me to decide on what it was that I wanted for the day. You can either eat inside, grab to go, and even better they have a drive through. There is so much to choose from food smells absolutely amazing and tastes really good. It was really amazing and all the flavors just bust in your mouth. I was greeted by a nice redheaded lady, who really informed me about what makes becks special and recommended the burger to me. Becks Prime makes great burgers -- no doubt about that. However, I would strongly advise against ordering for delivery. I recently ordered a hamburger, and when it arrived, the bottom bun was so soggy it was completely unmanageable. I actually had to eat it with a fork because it just fell apart. All the restaurants that I've ordered burgers from usually sits lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles ,so you could assemble the burger at home and avoid this exact issue. I called and spoke with the manager, Fred, to explain the situation. He told me, "Well, you have to ask for that." My response was -- I didn't know I had to ask. Most restaurants automatically keep the wet ingredients separate for delivery to prevent the bun from getting soggy. If I had known the burger would come fully assembled, I would have specifically requested otherwise. It's disappointing that Becks Prime doesn't handle this more thoughtfully. The food is good, but the delivery experience was a letdown -- and it's enough to make me think twice next time. read more

I've been eating at Becks Peime for 30 years all around Houston. I quit eating at the one on 1960 and 249 because they couldn't get the burgers cooked as ordered. I decided to try this location and I remember why I quit! Over $30 and my burger was well done instead of medium, the fries were ice cold and I'm not sure how but my bun was hard around the edges and inedibly soggy from the grease. Becks has always been expensive but used to be worth it. I'm so disappointed that I have to permanently cross them off my list! It's sad when I can honestly say that the Whataburger I had yesterday was so much tastier than the overcooked, soggy, dry burger I just paid almost $20 for. They need to have a cook and an expediter that knows how to quality control what they're serving. read more

If you're looking for a backyard BBQ type of steak with a fresh off your father's grill flavor this is the place! I've had it on my list to try a New York strip from here for a while and no better day to do it then on a Wednesday when it's $35 steak dinner day! A great deal considering how large the cut is and the mega stuffed baked potato you get with it. It gave me all the chargrilled feels and was cooked perfectly and tender and juicy. I don't know that I'd pay the regular $50 price for something like this but the fact I can get this type of meal in a drive thru thrills me lol. The cheese fries were the highlight. They were handcut fries and had actual shredded cheese on them. Yum! We enjoyed our food, in all honesty, I'm probably comparing the tuna sandwich to Hopdoddy's tuna burger, which has an actual patty of tuna instead of a few strips, it's a few dollars more, but infinitely more filling. The quality of the food was good, the inside atmosphere was not anything to talk about, and the counter service was fine. Big juicy patty and a large basket of truffle fries. First bite was a blast from the past. Yep, just as good as I remembered. Truffle fries were better than I remembered.
