They earn more stars now but the week they opened, I probably would have given them 2 stars. They were slow, quality wasn't as good and you'd have a good 20 minute wait between the line to pay and the wait time for your burger. Now, the time is half that and the quality of their food is much more consistent. They could keep the place a little cleaner but for being as busy as they are most of the time, I guess it's expected. The food is greasy, but if you like that, this is your place. The burgers are large and juicy and you get to choose from a ton of toppings. Also, love their cajun fries. I've had good and bad experiences here. I remember loving the burgers, but I don't eat meat anymore so it's all on the fries. First time, I was super amped for some french fried goodness...and the fries I got were so sad and soggy and limp that I couldn't bring myself to eat them. Tres disappointing! Fast forward a year, and I've got a bad case of caffeine shakes and crave hot fried starch. I decide to risk it and get myself a "solo" order of cajun-style fries. Woman who took my order asked me to repeat it five times and still got it wrong, missing the bacon on my cheeseburger which I said five times. She also failed to make any eye contact, and mumbled. When Five Guys opened in my neighborhood last year, I knew my diet was in deep trouble. In a neighborhood where the best food you can get is Pizza place or Chipotle on the nights where I get home too late Five Guys is like shining star in the corner of my eye as I walk out the subway stop. The problem here is that they give you so much flexibility in adding toppings that it's actually hard to make a decision. The staff took a little bit of time and it's not as quick as the Five Guys in the Village, but it was nearly 9:30pm so I could excuse that. When I got home with the burger to share with my wife it hit the spot. It was one greesy dinner for two busy people but nothing beats a well made burger filled where every bite is nice and cheesy, it was all I could ask for at the end of a long day. For California visitors trying to find a good burger place: THIS IS IT! Its as delicious as in-n-out (even better, yes even bettter). It's pricier though but definitely worth it. It's not the best Five Guys I have ever had, nor the worst. Currently it's under renovation so it looks closed from the outside, but it's not. It was not sparkling clean but not dirtier than any other fast food place. I love that the burgers are fresh and cooked to order and that the fries are always overflowing. Tonight we did make the mistake of ordering the regular fries over the cajun. I think the cajun are far superior. Love the endless peanuts in the shells! Five Guys Burgers & Fries I ordered the little Bacon cheeseburger, so yummy, perfectly done!! I love that the toppings on the burger are free and while I just go for some mayo and lettuce I like that they're are so many options!! And also to have the name little in front of it this burger is nothing but !! Overall a great burger place I got the fries as well because what's a burger without fries but I'm not crazy about their fries, some felt a bit undercooked but not horrible. I am little disappointed with this 5 Guy spot. I've been to other 5 G locations and simply loved every bite of it. It's just that here at 2847 Broadway they have not yet got it right: 1)Burger was well-done and very dry. Never had that before at 5 Guys. 2)Fries were mush. Mush not good. 3)Deceiving menu: Little burger means 1 patty. Regular burgers have 2 patties. How about the single/double instead of little/regular? 4) Slow service with not 5 but 8 Guys working behind the counter. I love 5 Guy burgers but not here. This location serves the same grub as all the other chains, however there's a $2 inflation on EACH item because they are in the UWS. Keep this in mind (at least the peanuts are still free). You can easily spend $15 for a burger, fries and a beverage here versus $10 in other locations. It's clean and the staff are pleasant. If you have had their food before it's the same standard and good quality. They will cook your burger to order and all toppings are free. Fries, even the small, will feed 2 people easily. read more
