I went to the Shake Shack across from Columbia University on two occasions. The first I went for and ordered the "Dubai chocolate shake". I returned minutes later for a refund. For me it taste like nothing. I did taste chocolate but it was watery and it had no pistachio flavor or taste to it. The "shredded pastry" tasted like shredded wheat cereal. The staff was very helpful and without issue I was fully refunded. My second trip was last night and I ordered a veggie burger (the pickles were cold and made the sandwich taste bad), the spicy fries were spicy but also had an overwhelmingly taste of salt in the worst way and I tried the banana pudding shake (this was great! I will go back at 11pm on Monday for this). The same person please. He did a fantastic job. The shake had the perfect amount of flavor thickness and cookie consistency to each slurp. It was too late to return the burger and fries so I couldn't get a refund but I will definitely go back for another banana pudding shake. Too bad they only have it in one size. I really liked this location, the workers were really nice and the food was absolutely delicious. We tried the truffle burger, some fries and a lemonade and loved every part of it. At first it was super packed so we thought we'd have to order to go but the turnaround on the tables is fairly quick and we were able to eat in. Shake Shack is a gourmet version of Wendy's. The only difference is they cook hamburgers the right way with a little bit of pink in the burger in that nice moist and not dried way. All food chain restaurants only get three stars because they are all generic with service, food, and decor in their restaurants. However, this particular Shake Shack is four stars to me because of their manager. Now the crew seems to be in an attitude mood and wants to avoid being there as far as the cashiers go. The cooking staff are about their business, trying to cook satisfactorily with some fun in the kitchen, which I appreciate. What stands out to me in this store is the manager. She did something I only see in regular mom-and-pop shops or sit-down restaurants; she came out and personally wanted to see how everyone was doing and if they enjoyed the food. That stood out to me because she is going above and beyond. Even to the point of refilling drinks except for the shakes for all the patrons in the store. There was a reasonably new lady, and she tried to encourage her to do the same and also check the bathrooms for cleanliness instead of standing around doing nothing. This deserves mentioning, and I love customer service in any store. This will always be my go-to Shake Shack when I want something to eat. read more

They never get my order right and they served me bad cheese. Every 6 months I order from here and regret it. Between flat out leaving out items, mixing things up, or otherwise not sending me my order I finally got one where they sent me every item I ordered. That's where the positives end. The cheese is usually smooth and shiny and when cold will harden up but generally looks like cheese. I have no idea what they sent me today but you can tel by how it hardened it was never hot and it is grainy and thick. It tastes and resembles wall paper paste. I live in this area and was initially so excited there was a shake shack down the street but unfortunately this location has messed up my orders twice. The most recent incident was this past Saturday when I ordered hot chicken bites spicy and received the ones in the picture attached, which are not the spicy chicken ones. The Morningside Heights location for Shake Shack has finally opened and, in my opinion, it is a very welcomed addition to the neighborhood. I imagine it will be quite popular once the students move back in for the coming school year. As usual, this Shake Shack location has a very clean and modern look to it, and it has quite a bit of space. And the decor is quite nice as well; there is some art work specific to the neighborhood. The staff was also quite friendly and helpful. They were willing to answer questions, were knowledgeable about the menu, and seemed to be having a good time. I ordered a Smoke Shack, cheese fries, and a 50/50. The Smoke Shack has bacon on it that had just the right amount of crispiness and smokiness. It was quite delicious and my only complaint is that I wanted more. The sauce and toppings were all quite tasty. The cheese fries were also quite good. The parts of the fries that were exposed were perfectly crispy and the parts that were covered in cheese were perfectly gooey. It was a nice textural combination with great flavor; who doesn't love cheese and fried potatoes?? The 50/50 is Shake Shack's version of an Arnold Palmer. In other words, it is half lemonade half iced tea. It had a good flavor and wasn't too sweet, just the way I like it. Overall this was a great experience. I am glad I got in early and beat the inevitable crowd. I will certainly be returning to try the other burgers and to grab a shake! read more

Okay, this is Shake Shack. I know that one bad review from nobody like me would not really affect business. But this particular branch does not really know how to prepare everything that is being ordered. For instance, I got two Korean Chicken sandwiches, one Korean chicken bite, and Korean fries. The chicken bite and fries should come with Gochujang Mayo and we did not receive them...!!!!!! Is it really hard for you guys to double check whether everything that customers ordered is in the brown bag? There is no dining-in option so customers would have to open the bag in the middle of the street to check this. Is this what all customers are supposed to do? Just a brief review on the food: their chicken sandwiches are tasty but I don't really know why they call these Korean. They don't taste like Korean marinated fried chickens at all. It's almost shocking how badly they mess up, and how often it happens. So this Shake Shack was a surprise for me and I decided to eat here while waiting to meet someone. I was eating my Chick 'n Shack sandwich and fries, nearly finishing my sandwich when I took a bite and felt something hard. It turns out there was a bone in my chicken sandwich. That squicked me out, making me cautious of finishing that sandwich. I take this bone out and snap a picture, figuring I'll complain to the corporate offices later & try to finish my meal while waiting for my person. A staff member comes up and asks "how was everything?" I told him about finding the bone in my sandwich and showed it to him. He walks off and then another staff member (perhaps the manager) walks up and asks if I have my receipt. I give it to him and he says "I'll take this off your bill and get you another meal." I figured I would only get a replacement sandwich or a credit but I got a replacement meal (sandwich and fries) AND refunded my money. I have to give 5 stars for the handling of this situation since that was far beyond my expectations of what I thought would happen. I love raved-about burger chains like In-N-Out and Whataburger. I have heard nonstop positive things about Shake Shack from my out of town friends. The employees here are the most disrespectful I have ever come across. I'm waiting for five minutes for the cashier to count quarters while trying to place my order. We then place our order and pay, and they completely forget to make it. We waited 30 minutes before asking what happened, only to be told "the order never went through". Instead of offering us a refund or to make our food, we're ignored completely. I then wrote customer service through the website and all they could do is offer a refund and a $5 off $20 coupon.
