I don't usually go to five guys because I know how pricey it is but, I wanted my daughter to try it. So we end up splitting a double cheeseburger which is $11 just for that. We got a regular order of fries and two drinks. The food is really good but I feel like it's over priced. They don't have combo's so you have to order everything separately. I admit the small burger is good tasting, but absolutely not worth $11. It may be as good tasting, but it's quite messy. Yes, the fries are good, back in the day we called Brooklyn fries. And yes, you do get a lot in an order. But you know what a potato cost these days? Surely not $7.39. I paid $43 plus for three cheeseburgers and a large fry. One of my favorite places to go on the island and I don't even know if any of the locals realize how lucky they are to have one. My first experience with Five Guys was in L.A. a few years ago. We just got one built in our area located at the Fox Hills Mall close to LAX and after my first bite, their burger definitely lived up to the hype. That was about 4 years ago. Five Guys Burgers AND their Fries still gets my mouth watering. Gotta love their unlimited ketchup and malt vinegar. And the food at this location is not any different. The service here is excellent, you get free peanuts while you wait, the guys behind the counter are fast and super friendly & the food is consistently delicious. What more can you ask for really? Overall, I love this place and any FG I've visited has consistently served a great burger. Their "small hamburger" with fries to share is usually plenty enough for me and the taste will always keep me coming back for more. Love it. read more

In the greater Jacksonville area this is the location to go. Everyone that works here is always smiling and asks how you are. The food is quite tasty but it is a little pricey which if you have been to a five guys before you are aware of. As I had never partook in a Five Guys burger, I had some time one night before class and figured why not. It was still pretty early when I walked in, as I leave the Westside almost 2 hours prior to the time my class starts when I go to Fleming Island as to beat traffic from NAS Jax. There was one other customer in the joint as well as an employee taking his break, and one lady working the register and grill. I ordered a burger with a few toppings and fries. As I grew up just down the street from a fabled burger joint back home in Connecticut and I am from the state where the hamburger was invented, I am pretty particular when it comes to burgers. Five Guys hit it out of the park and then some. I had a truly great burger. The fries weren't too bad either. There were just a lot of them! There were so many that the cup was overflowing, so the lady worked put them in a bag for me. This, of course, didn't help due to the grease, but what can you do? read more

Missed the mark tonight! We've gone to this place since it opened! Over the years we've experienced excellent service and great food! They've always had a courteous staff. Previous managers were always very attentive to their guests. BUT TONIGHT, THEY MISSED THE MARK!!! For the first time, Cajun fries were tiny cut little chunks! Peanuts were stale! The burgers were OK, minimal pieces lettuce all smushed in the aluminum wrapper - very sloppy! But when I went to inform the cashier the order was wrong - suddenly a person came from behind the second counter... and said what's wrong? Then she adamantly stayed "we can't take that behind the counter". So I said so what do we do? The woman who I'm now assuming is the manager, says "what do you want?" I want what I ordered. It kept going back & forth until I said "you're starting to get confrontational" the manager says "no, I'm really not" in the snottiest way possible. Instead of creating any more of an ordeal of what could've been handled easily - I told her to forget it. Lastly, great exit. I noticed everyone was thanked for their patronage on the way out. Best burger in OP. The grilled mushrooms are delicious. I got the double cheeseburger and it had 2 slices of cheese. I was surprised. The burgers are thick. I would say 1/4 pounds. I couldn't eat all of it and same with the fries. Got the large to share and had left overs. MaKING another trip back tonight and trying the Cajun fries this time. I really wanted to like this place as I have only been to Five Guys one other time and did not really like it. Wow, how disappointing. First off, the hamburger itself tasted fine, but it was very soggy. The bun did not taste toasted at all, it was just disintegrating. I ate the cheeseburger immediately as well, it was not sitting there. That aside, when I was ordering I nearly fell over backwards when the cashier read me the price. It was going to be over 17$ for a cheeseburger, regular fries and a regular drink. Excuse me? The cashier just nodded like it was the normal response. Excellent burger, worth the wait and OK priced. Huge fries. The burger I had was a double cheeseburger using fresh meat, and melted the cheese through and through. The all the way option was just about every topping I love, and together the flavor was one of the best burgers, I've ever tasted. It is a medium priced experience, not the most expensive, but certainly not the cheapest. However a great value. The decor of the place is very simple, using 50's styling and bags of peanuts to compliment the decor. btw you can eat the peanuts free while you are waiting. read more

My all time favorite French fries... Cajun style. They are perfectly spicy and are so delicious that I don't know when to stop. I usually fill up on fries before I get to my burger. The burgers are great, too. I always get jalapenos. They use fresh jalapenos. Be warned, they are hot! The trays of dry roasted peanuts keep you busy until you get your fresh made meal. This is a chain resturant and as I ate at one located on the other side of Jacksonville I was expecting a silmilar experience. From the moment I walked in I was aware that there are quality control issues at this location. The floor was so greasy that you had to be cautious to walk to where you ordered the food. The air was filled with smoke, the kitchen is not properly ventilated. The other location I ate at, the St. John's Town Center, was immaculately clean with good air quality. There were five people working when I was here and the resturant was not slammed with customers. Our french fries were overcooked and so tough that they certainly helped me not to eat many-in that sense they were a low calorie item! One of my dining companions had eaten at a Five Guys in Orlando and he said the french fries were good there. I thought the fries I had at the other location were excellant. As this resturant only serves hamburgers, hot dogs and french fries they really ought to ensure that the staff knows how to prepare them. read more

We love having a Five Guys down the road! And yes even though it's not the healthiest it is definitely the freshest. An added bonus is that you can order and pay on-line and just pick it up~they wait to drop your fries when you get there so they are fresh. I must say that the fries are not the best when you get them home even though it's a 5 minute drive. The choices of toppings is wonderful and even a small fry is not small.
