To be perfectly fair, I decided to give this place another chance. this is the first time I've been back in over four years. I ordered cheeseburger and regular fries. toppings are your choice of over 10 condiments. Even though the economy is bad, this place is still really pricey. All orders are made fresh. I waited about 10 minutes, and I was not disappointed by the food. Everything is hot and fresh, and the staff is very polite and accommodating. Noticed some of the tables needed wiping. That's one of the first things most people look at is cleanliness, when they walk into a restaurant. Friendly suggestion... Please turn down the music so people can have a conversation. When we saw 5 Guys was coming to Kenosha my husband was so happy. We didn't have to go to Gurnee if we wanted fries (which is the only thing he buys). When it first opened, I expected snags like any new opening but eventually things would settle, but they have been open for about a year and the experience I have had at other 5 guys I have never had here. I have been to Oregon, Illinois (different Chicago and Gurnee) and now here in Kenosha and this is the ONLY place that does not give you French fries. Now if you know 5 guys you'll understand what I mean, but if you are not familiar with 5 guys I'll explain. This place gives you a cup PLUS so if you order a large French fry..you can share with 2 other people and still have a lot left (unless you're like my husband). Yes the food is expensive and that is why I don't go there often but when I do go I tell my kids who divide them all up, when I got home they wanted to know where I was hiding them. All joking aside..this 5 guys needs to clean house and either do better training, or they need to have upper management stay in the building until this place is like all the others. You don't get a greeting, the person behind the register was more confused about the order he was taking then the poor older lady was with her two grandsons. He messed up her order after going over it 3 times with her which took over 5 minutes (I was still deciding so I wasn't in too much of a rush). The girls behind the counter looked bored, the guy cooking was the only one really busy and the girl doing fries was the slowest..I watched her putting fries in cups like she was counting them. On top of that she didn't add fries like all the other places do and the look on her face said she couldn't be bothered. After paying $28 for the amount of food I got, I will never return here. Service was slow and cashier rude! I asked for a lager water glass to go and the cashier rolled his eyes and said he would have to charge me for a pop. Plenty of places close by to spend my money. It's a chain, so no surprises on the food or prices. But on our visit, it just wasn't all that clean. Wasn't crowded, so they should have had someone walking around with a broom and rag, or sent someone over to clean-up the drink/condiment area. FYI Guys, if you bring a date, the Fantastic tasting Burgers are more costly than any fast food place; but Ladies well worth it. Good burgers but a bit pricey. A nice change from the fast food scene. I just wished they serve another option besides the same old same old French fry. Maybe a pasta salad, something cold to offset the burger. I have to say the burger was tasty, the cooks move in unison, so food comes out quick. It's a well oiled machine, other than the female cashier, who took my order. She was a bit clueless. I just have a bit of a hard time paying over two dollars for a soft drink, of which I can probably only consume one glass. It seems the price of a small burger and soda, minus fries is a much better deal at Red Robin. It's hard to justify over eight bucks for soda and a small burger at Five Guys, when I can go into Red Robin, get a good burger, options other than fries, or endless fries for that matter and pay almost the same price. Also Red Robin has a loyalty card, which gets you a free burger after 10. I like places that value my business. read more

Unseasoned dry cheap meat. If its not frozen then cheapest beef the could find. Hard stale bun. Restaurant was cold and drafty probably 65 degrees. Soda machine was mostly carbonated water so it tasted bitter. For $15 it was a ripoff. I will never return to any Five Guys again. I should have gone to White Castle. This "meal" was horrible - overrated garbage. I agree with the other reviewer a few staff members looked stoned. As I ate I was the only person in the restaurant and a few of them watched me as I ate which left me wondering if they tainted my meal - it tasted that bad and just makes me wonder. I'll keep this short and simple. My wife and I went there on a Monday night. As we walked in the front door, it was like walking into the Cheech and Chong van. This place reeked of weed. I can't prove it, but I think I got a contact high just by being in the place. I started getting a craving for cheetohs and a Mountain Dew. My wife and I were impressed that the guy didn't mess up taking our order even though he was completely stoned.. The workers were dickheads at first, but after I stood by the front counter and talked to them while they were making my order, they were alright. Just ok - agree with other reviewers that this place is pricey for what you get plus it is basically self service. The guys working at the place didn't seem like they wanted to be there. This was our first time there and I felt like the guy taking our order was annoyed with the 2 questions I asked him. What was the difference between a cheeseburger and small cheeseburger? Small cheeseburger is 1/4 pound and cheeseburger is 2 1/4 pound patties which to me would be called a double cheese. Then I asked do you have cheese sauce for the fries and all I got was a no. He seemed pissed off like he didn't want to be there. Not a good first impression. Burgers were ok. I got the small cheeseburger and hubby got the cheeseburger. What I found odd is that they are cooked fresh when you order BUT we weren't asked how we liked them cooked. Mine was fine but hubby likes his medium rare so his was way over cooked for him. Fries were awesome! We split a large and I thought the portion was generous but then again this was our first time there. Drinks had a lot of options with 2 fancy Coke machines with 100s of choices - which I really like. Overall just ok for one small cheeseburger, one cheeseburger, large fry and 2 drinks we paid $28. A bit pricey for just ok burgers. I'd rather go to Grabs on the North side and have a server at least they ask how you want your burger cooked. read more

I've had 5 Guys at other locations & have always had a good experience. However, the Kenosha location was disappointing. As soon as we walked in, two employees were at the front near the register talking, and we heard F bombs from them both. Horrible first impression. The music was so, unnecessarily loud, that we practically had to yell our order. In fact, the lady at the register asked us to repeat ourselves, twice, & said, "Sorry, the music is too loud, I can't hear you". Our order was $30 for 2 burgers, fries & a small drink. There were so many people in the kitchen area handling food. It looked incredibly unorganized. As we waited for our food, an employee who must have been of the clock, was getting a drink at the machine; he was on the phone & dropped a loud F bomb next to a family with kids. The mom addressed him & his poor language. He apologized & left. Our food was handed to us with a smile and we ate our food & it was good. After we arrived home half an hour later we both started to feel a little ill. Then we both had to take turns using the bathroom for the next 3 hours. It had to be the food from 5 Guys, because that was the only thing we both ate so far that day. So we spent $30 to be sick on the only day off we had together. Thank you 5 Guys, we will never eat there again. There's a Potbelly & Chipotle right next door. Better yet, we'll just save our money & eat healthier at home.
