This was my first time going to Five Guys. First walked in and looked at the menu. Guy asks me if I have been here before and I say no. Says let me take a second to explain the menu, then pretty much reads the menu. Ok, I pretty much could of done that myself but nice of him to do so. Explains all toppings are free (well, aren't they like that at any burger place?) So I picked my burger, two patty, Bacon, Lettuce, Ketchup, Mayo.... then ordered small fries and a drink. Took my burger togo but started eating the fries in the car. Mixed bag on the fries, some were soggy and limp, others were slightly crisp. They should learn from In and Out to not match batches of fries... Burger was like the ones I make at home, nothing spectacular, but it was drier than the ones I make at home, almost a little over cooked and kinda broke a part. Overall, A little pricey, with total cost around 12 bucks. You can go to Happy Hound in Los Gatos, get a burger twice the size with fries and a drink for about the same price or slightly less price and it tastes better. I finally got the chance to try out Five Guys. I know a lot of ppl can be passionate about their burgers and the In&Out vs Five Guys debate. To me, both are good. But, in different ways. Five Guys - You can do it your way! Burgers are juicy, fatty, and messy. Kind of like a guy's hamburger, where you probably don't want to eat one of these when you're with a girl. But, I think this is how juicy burgers should be. In & Out - Cheap, good, horrible fries....those are three phrases that are synomous with In&Out. To me, this is the girly hamburger joint. Not that this is a bad thing. But, you'll often find that the ladies will prefer this place. It's clean, the burgers are nicely prepared (buns are toasted, thin patties of meat are nicely griddle fried), and nicely wrapped up so anyone eating in the car doesn't have to worry about getting burger juice all over their clothes. read more

I'll admit the burgers are good, juicy, flavorful and tender. Along with the delicious cajun fries, you are in for a full satisfying meal. However, if you do not eat the food as soon as you get them..they will turn to mush in matter of minutes. By the time I got home (live few minutes away) and unwrapped the burger the buns were soggy and everything was falling apart. Fries were soggy...soggy fries make me sad. My favorite place to go for lettuce wrapped burgers, They seem to have lettuce specifically for making lettuce wraps which is why I enjoy the lettuce wraps so much. Most burger places use the same lettuce they put in a normal burger so the lettuce isn't durable for holding everything together and you end up using a fork or something. They also don't charge for anything "extra" which is awesome when you're on a low carb diet and need the extra goodies to fill you up. I've been asked if I wanted extra cheese and I've had a few times where they threw in a ton of bacon which is awesome. I've seen them use up to 3 wraps of foil just to wrap my burger up, that's how huge it gets. Their online ordering is awesome too, I normally order the same thing every time so I just log in on my phone and I can speed up the process by just ordering previous orders or you can make custom orders and save them for later. The ordering process takes less than 30 seconds on my phone. I only wish they added some sort of comments or notes that I can attach to the order. read more

So, as an In N Out fan, I found 5 guys completely fine. When I do eat poorly, this was my decision today--it was close to the hotel--I did lunch at 5 Guys. I have no complaints other than the calorie count, heh. Ordering was friendly and nice, delivery was cool. It was lunch-time, so they guy was rattling off numbers like an auctioneer. Food quality is good, perhaps a slight point or two from In N Out, but if you love peanuts as an appetizer, you are in golden. I had a burger and fries... the quantity of the "regular" size of fries was crazy huge. Hint: a normal burger includes two patties, etc. Go smaller if you aren't into that. read more

This is becoming one of my "guilty pleasures". Previously, In-n-Out was the only fast-food joint I've tended to patronize, but I'll make an exception for this place. Interestingly, it's on the opposite end of the spectrum from In-n-out. Where In-n-Out offers a limited menu and simple fare at a very reasonable price, Five Guys has a dazzling array of choices at a hefty premium (for fast food). The burgers are quite tasty (FYI, I find that a "little" cheeseburger is about right for me -- the "regular" burgers are way too much beef for one meal (at least in my opinion). The fries are the sort of hot, crisp, greasy fries I remember from a childhood spent eating "red hots" and fries from greasy paper bags in the Chicago suburbs and the cajun fries are quite flavorful. My wife and I find that one regular order of fries is sufficient for both of us. We've been successful at limiting our consumption of fast food to about once per month, and it's nice that now we have two choices -- the simplicity and elegance of In-n-Out or the pure decadence of Five Guys! read more

The burgers here have worn off me for some reason. At one point, I'd have a Five Guys at least twice a month. Now I can't even remember when the last time I had one. I've gone to In and Out Burger and Habit Burger much more recently. It's good, but it doesn't have that WOW factor for me anymore. I gotta give them props on the online ordering. It works great! Got a take out on the Memorial Day. We were in the area and I tried ordering online but it looked like they were closed. We drove by and saw that we had about 15 minutes left to order. No worries. They took our order in a very friendly manner, helped make choices (it was my first time there). Their burgers are in the middle of the pack taste wise: better than fast food, not as good as my faves from some other places. But it hit the spot and was exactly what I was craving for. Went there for lunch today. The place is clean and the cashier is friendly. Waited in line for about 10 minutes and I ordered a regular cheeseburger with everything. It took them about 5 minutes to make and guess what? After I unwrap the foil, I discover a strand of human hair melt with the cheese and patties. I showed it to the guy in the counter and got a replacement burger. He did apologize but he didn't offer refund. I totally lost my appetite and left the place. Will not come back again! Ok.. I worked my way up from my 3 star review to 4 star after my last experience. I recently had a little cheeseburger with EVERYTHING except mayo. The burger was very juicy and very very tasty. It's not like IN-N-OUT so if you want an old fashion burger this would be the place to get it. The fries are thicker, crispier and more meaty, if I can say that about a starch, than IN-N-OUT's. It took me 3 visits to build this place up to a 4 star review. The first time I had Five Guys, I had to drive a ways to get it to the SO to eat. It wasn't as great as it could have been due to the wait between ordering and consuming. The second time I was staaaaarving so I felt like anything I ate would have received 5 stars. The third visit, I finally sat down and ate it as soon as it was made and I can finally say I am a fan. I usually get the little bacon cheeseburger. NO MUSHROOMS. The mushrooms are nasty. They taste sour and feel like rubber. Gross. I have tried it twice and I can confidently say I'm not a fan of the way they cook their mushrooms. The SO is fine with them. The employees are extremely helpful and patient when it comes to ordering. I came a little after the lunch rush so it was a good experience ordering without being familiar with the menu. I think the burgers are too different from In N Out to compare the two. So stop comparing them! The small order of fries is more than enough for two people. Friendly service, peanuts as an appetizer, and some of the most delicious burgers you will ever eat! This location does a great job of trying to upsell and push their fresh-cut fries if you don't order them. They are funny with their order calling when your burgers are ready, making it a pleasant and lighthearted atmosphere. I love that you can order your burger exactly how you want it, too. I have only had five guys once before in DC. I'm glad to see they're expanding to the west coast. Anyways, we each got the junior cheeseburger and an order of fries for the table. It's hard to believe their regular burger has two patties. I doubt that the normal person can eat that. But it's prob more psychological - you feel good for getting a smaller portion and you're also paying less. The burger was good - lots of toppings as I got everything. There isn't anything weird so it's all good. And it's very messy to eat. The fries were good too. My friend commented that they tasted too much like potatoes. I liked it - good to know they're using real potatoes and not processed crap. Anyways a lot of people compare five guys to in and out and while it's similar that they both serve burgers, I don't think they're comparable. If I had to, I would chose in n out. Sorry. I rarely review anything on yelp. However I come here frequently enough to pick up my online order and each time I notice a trend. These guys are insanely nice, I can't fathom how they keep there energy level up all day but it's one of the rare places I don't mind picking up dinner. They make your fries fresh, offer a cup of water or anything you need and to top it off when I have a tray of peanuts they offer me a bag to take them for the road. Great place if you have a burger craving. This location is surrounded by many restaurant options such as Chick-fila, chipotle, pizza, and several other 'healthy' options....so this area is great for variety. Inside is pretty similar to the rest of the five guys...although here there's a decent amount of outdoor seating since during weekday lunches it can get pretty crowded. In terms of ordering, they have a single patty hamburger or double patty hamburger. There sold as 'junior' hamburgers and regular hamburgers...which to me is somewhat deceiving....or maybe it's smart marketing. What really makes this restaurant stand out is the fact that you can customize your burger anyway you want it. In addition to your usual toppings like lettuce, tomatoes, they also have grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, jalapenos, and A1 steak sauce. I ended up ordering the double cheeseburger with the usual toppings but added grilled onions and grilled mushrooms. I also got the Cajun fries instead of the salted fries. The cheeseburger was pretty large, and with all the toppings it made it even bigger. The burger was very juicy and I really liked the taste of the bun as it had a somewhat sweet taste to it. I also really liked the grilled onions and mushrooms as it's not a taste I'm accustomed to when eating a cheeseburger. As for the fries, there cooked perfectly, but I thought the Cajun spice was just ok...I think next time I'll stick with the salted fries. Overall the burgers here are good, fresh, and juicy...that's really all you could ask for in a good burger. One thing I will say is price wise, a double cheeseburger, with regular fries and medium drink will cost you around 12 bucks. I guess you get what you pay for....but for 'fast food' I did think it was pretty expensive. read more

I've been to five guys occasionally. It's ok in its own way, but in-n-out beats them on flavor. I like to try different things so I come here occasionally. Today one order really didn't taste right. I complained to employee that took my order and wasn't satisfied with his response. I won't be coming back. I'll stick with Burger King instead. read more

Where do I begin? Fucking awesome. Their regular burgers are double burgers, 2 1/4lb patties with cheese, you can customize the burger however you feel. I came in and ordered a cheeseburger with grilled onions, mushrooms, and grilled peppers. Tasted just like a philly cheesesteak. Only issue is they don't cook burgers medium and anything above medium well is just a hockey puck in my eyes. They give you free peanuts too! read more
