not long ago I would have given them at least 4 stars, but lately they are lucky to get 1 star. First, prices are insane these days. $13.59 and $4.99 for a LITTLE cajun fry. Now, let's move on to the real problem - inability to get the order right. The last two times I got food from there, including just now, they got my order wrong. The first time, they gave the door dasher the wrong order and it didn't show up until after I called to complain about it not arriving at all. Today, and the one that really set me off... I ordered my usual meal and they forgot the cokes. When my wife got home with the order, I asked where the cokes were and she told me that was all they gave her. I tried to call and talk to the manager, but they put me on hold and hung up on me in about 20 seconds. So, I went over to talk to them and get my sodas. I asked for the manager, and some kid came over as I was explaining it. Then they tell me "ohh, he's not the manager she is" and they point to a woman there. I started to explain the problem, but when I saw the blank look on her face I decided to leave without my drink because I have no patience for that type of thing. By the time I got back to the hotel my family and I have been forced to live in the last month when our home was destroyed by a tree my food was ice cold and I had no drink. Restaurant was clean, the guy taking the order at the counter was friendly and helpful as this is not a normal for me to go to fast food places. But I can appreciate a sack of potatoes sitting in front of the store to let you know it's not some processed potatoes and really just potatoes dipped in hot grease. The food was good, but overpriced. The reason I gave them two stars primarily is their lack of appreciation for military veterans. I asked if they honored a military veteran discount and they said no. It was with great honor that I was able to protect the business owners of this establishment who are thriving now because of the umbrella of freedom I provided for them. Now they just get to make a bunch of money and failed to acknowledge the brave Americans who provided this opportunity for them. i'm not sure if they realize that military are not paid very well, but they're doing OK with their $25 burger combos. I will never go there again while they don't acknowledge the people that protected them with their lives. Seems like it depends on who's on the grill and cooking the frites. No one comes to five guys for a flattened piece of overcooked meat or cold fries that seemed as though the grease is old. For the ladies of five guys: please stop skimping on the fries. The guys get it right! And please don't smash the buns for your call in/online orders. Came here to celebrate my nephew's 1st birthday (his choice) and there were 7 of us in total. Employee didn't greet us until I said something to her. It's great you could see the screen to make sure the order is correct on top of it being read back to you. Total was about $70 even though all of us did not order drinks or fries. Definitely on the expensive side. My grilled cheese sandwiches were okay. Not much cheese pull as I would've liked but I absolutely love how they make it on bread buns. Fries were pretty good as well, not super crispy & I love the drink machine since you can "create" your own in a sense. Main problem on this visit was that it was raining and the ceiling started dripping on me as I was eating. No way they don't know their ceiling leaks by now! I hope it's not any worse when it's really storming outside. Also wish they had more options. Aside from maybe the shakes I feel like nothing here has changed at all throughout the years. I usually don't eat here, but not because it's not good... it's just not healthy. One thing im not a fan of, is that they don't make your fries till you get there, when you've placed a carry out order. First of all, I want to eat the fries on my way back without burning my mouth, and second, if i'm picking it, I probably have limited time to do so. The options for toppings are pretty vast, and there's no charge unless you're adding cheese and bacon. I love getting the little cheeseburger with 7 different additions! Or the bacon cheese dog! I did, once, have a bacon cheese dog and immediately after felt like I was going to have a heart attack. Order at your own risk! The workers are nice and friendly and my order is usually correct. During a drive from Harrisburg, PA, to Holden Beach, NC, we decided to stop at this Five Guys in Virginia for lunch. Sometimes you need more than fast food on a long road trip. While some might say Five Guys is fast food, I politely disagree. First, each burger is made to order, and with my gluten allergy, they will change gloves, wipe down the cooktops and ensure a safe, cross-contamination free zone for me. No fast food joint I'm aware of would do that for its customers. I prefer the salad to the lettuce wrap, and I load on lettuce, tomato, pickles, and grilled onions to complete the scene. Also, fries! The servings are huge, so it's easy to share. And I love the peanuts in the shell you can eat while you wait for your order to be called. The beverage kiosk is pretty cool too - one for sodas, and another for iced tea. Clean restrooms, easy on/off highway access, and ample parking are added bonuses. I ordered a hamburger and they threw two giant patties on a bun, which were all ridiculously amazing. They gave me a giant list of different toppings to choose from. You can pick items like fried onions, mushrooms, jalapenos if you are daring, whatever. You can't go wrong. Then you get some fries and they just fill up a bag with them. When you take a bite of your hamburger, your mouth literally will dance. I ask for a lettuce wrap, they will ask if it is for an allergy or for preference, be sure to say preference if u really dont have an allergy. It creates more work for the cook when all u are doing is watching your carbs. I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger no bun with lettuce wrap, tomato, mustard, mushrooms and extra pickles. Amazing! Also, if u are not familiar with Five Guys Burgers, they are super juicy, so be sure to stuff a couple napkins under your burger and always lean over to eat it because u WILL get it everywhere if u dont. I have found that because the burger is so big i simply cant take a bite without getting it on my face... so maybe not the best place for a date lol. I've been to many Five Guys in the VA area, and there is just something about this one that makes it stand out. Each time I'm there the restaurant looks as clean as a hospital, the guys/gals working the counter are friendly, my burger is served hot and just as I ordered it, and the fries are perfectly salty and almost overflowing from the bag. I've gotta give a huge amount of credit to the owner, who you often times see working the line with this employees, because it's clear to see that he runs a tight shift. If I can suggest something to guests who are unfamiliar with the Five Guys code: put a dollar+ in the tip jar, and make sure the cashier sees it. If you do this at a Five Guys that follows the code, you'll get an extra scoop (or two) of fries topping off your bag. I do it every time, and without fail I get more fries than I can usually handle. Excellent quality every time. The toppings for the burgers are the best around, and always fresh. The grilled cheese sandwich is a lesser known menu item, but always part of our order.
