Cook Out is a staple when it comes to cheap, quick fast food. I honestly wish there were more in my area but whenever I go to one, it's always a good time. So I'm down here in Fredericksburg to visit friends and thought it was a good idea to try and get some Cook Out before the hang out begins. I get a Cook Out Tray with a big double burger with all the toppings I want on there. Then I get to pick two sides which are usually fries and hush puppies. I get a drink and knowing that Cook Out has Cheerwine, I immediately go for it. The Big Double Burger, just your average burger that tastes like what the name implies; a cook out. Fries were okay but they were lukewarm. The hush puppies tasted a bit drier knowing they weren't freshly made but still was enjoyable to eat. And Cheerwine? Honestly it's one of the better sodas I would personally get again and again. My adventure didn't stop there as I wanted dessert. Can't leave Cook Out without a nice milkshake. I got my favorite; Mint Chocolate Chip Milkshake. It looks the part, tastes the part with a generous amount to go through. I did not finish this right away, I was there for another half an hour trying to finish this. It's always worth it every time. I honestly see myself coming back here, but maybe at the Manassas location. It's already far enough trying to go down to Fredericksburg.

literally, the best milkshakes ever!!!! and at a great price $1.99...soooo much cheaper than whomever has the next best milkshakes (ex. chik-fil-a) my faves are the peanut butter & fudge, banana pudding, and egg nog (only available during december)! you can also sub out your drink on a tray/combo "or sub areg. shake (no drink)"

i ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and got raw chicken

i ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and got raw chicken don't get chicken from this place clearly they have no idea how to cook it lol

This is an average fast food joint. The deal of a meal (burger/chicken sandwich) plus two sides is pretty great, only $6.99. But the sides are pretty small and I wish they had been a tad bigger. What we got: Spicy chicken sandwich - it was subpar, I wish mine had more mayo as it was a tad dry. The chicken was not spicy as all, part of me wonders of they got the order wrong. The big double - bun was dry, meat overcooked, and vegetables were meh. Oreo peanut butter m&m milkshake - it was good. The milkshakes are thicker, which is nice. But also nothing extraordinarily special. Strawberry caramel milkshake - my partner did not like it. I thought it was fine. Nothing special. The caramel wasn't mixed in though. The sides we got: White cheddar cheese curds - the best side by far, but very small servings Walkin Taco - I did not know this would be a Doritos bag with taco toppings crushed up and mixed inside. So I was a bit disappointed to discover that on getting my meal. I can easily make this on my own and would never spend money for someone else to make it for me. Corn dog - tasted like any old corn dog you buy from the freezer section of a grocery store. Fries - nothing special (but they were hot and fresh, so thank goodness for that). Also very small servings. Over all, I wouldn't drive out of my way for Cook Out (like I did today) but if I was with people and they wanted to go then I'd go back and try a different meal.

A tray: bbq sandwich, slaw, fried okra

Damn, I wish this chain existed north of the Mason-Dixon line. On a trek down to South Carolina, I stopped for lunch at this Fredericksburg outpost of Cook Out. In these pandemic times, service was drive-thru only. No matter: there's no shortage of eats to chose from, ranging from burgers to chicken sandwiches to bbq, and at least 40 flavours of milkshakes. Maximize your bargain with a tray: a sandwich, two sides, and a drink for under $7. I snagged a tray with a bbq sandwich, fried okra, and slaw and a bottle of water. The sandwich was Carolina style pulled pork, soaked in a tangy vinegar sauce. It's not the best pulled pork you'll find by any stretch but filling and better than most you'll find up north. The slaw was just creamy enough and the okra crisp and salty. Sure, it's fast food. But it's the ultimate drive thru fare for a road trip down South

Honestly, whats not to love about Cook Out. Delicious fast food cooked to perfection for only $5. There are a lot of different food items on the menu and my favorite is a Big double tray with chicken nuggets, cajun fries, and a fruit punch no ice. When I am in the mood for some yummy dessert I order cheesecake with the topping on the side, or I go for a delicious cheesecake or Oreo milkshake. There are over 40 different milkshake flavors and there is even a seasonal eggnog one. The menu items range from BBQ sandwiches, grilled chicken sandwiches, chicken strips, hush puppies, onion rings, BLT's and hotdogs to name a few. Cook Out! Oh how I wish you were located on the west coast, so I could enjoy you more:)

The soda fountain could have been a little cleaner. Everything was very sticky, and the tray was overflowing. The tables and around the tables were clean.. The hush puppies, biscuits, and the macaroni and cheese were the best I've ever had from a fast food restaurant. As for the chicken, it smelled amazing. Unfortunately, from my taste, I found it very salty and greasy. The chicken was well flavored, but it was just way too salty for me I also tried their banana pudding and unfortunately, once again, at least from my taste, it was lacking the right flavors. I did try their honey butter chicken biscuit sandwich I found that to be delicious So for that alone, it's totally worth a trip. I did forget to take a picture of banana pudding and the honey butter biscuit sandwich

Whoever was on the register (a young man) stood out. They treated us very well. Others made sure to address us on the way out and say goodbye. The restaurant was clean and the food was really good. My kids generally eat very healthy and normally hate chicken tenders. They won't eat frozen chicken tenders at all because they are usually overly breaded and just kinda gross. These are NOT that. I had a leftover tender from my daughter and it was sooo good. The kids loved them and my son was impressed. There stood a cheerful young lady with a tablet beside the speaker box, hustling orders with the urgency of an air traffic controller at Reagan National. Now I will give them this -- they move people through faster than a tax refund disappears in Washington. I ordered three chicken finger baskets and repeated "unsweetened tea" enough times that it should have become part of the permanent record. Reconfirmed it at the second window too. We were in and out in four minutes flat, carrying enough Styrofoam and paper sacks to feed a Little League team. Six minutes later at home, the first sip of tea hit like liquified hummingbird feeder. That "unsweetened" tea had enough sugar in it to put the city of Fredericksburg on insulin monitoring. Somewhere in that kitchen a man clearly believes every Southerner measures tea sweetness by whether the spoon can stand upright in the cup. Then came the fries. Lord help us. These were pale, limp crinkle fries that looked less "fresh fried" and more "recently thawed beside a space heater." Not a hint of crispness. No golden-brown glory. Just soft potato strips lying in the tray like they had accepted defeat long before reaching the fryer. The chicken itself? Tiny little one-inch strips hiding under enough crunchy batter to qualify as exterior siding. Crispy, yes. Generous, no. More breading than bird. The Texas toast arrived soggy enough to make you wonder if it had been steamed instead of toasted. Calling that "Texas toast" is an insult to a state that once fought a war over standards. The lone survivor in this culinary rodeo was the sauce. That special sauce is carrying the entire franchise on its back like a weary mule climbing Pike's Peak. I finally asked my grandson if he had eaten there before. He admitted he had not. He'd simply been told it was great and figured nobody could really mess up chicken fingers and fries. Well. Humanity continues to innovate. Strike Raising Cane's from the regular rotation unless it is 2:00 in the morning, every other restaurant in Virginia is dark, and your soul is screaming for fried chicken through the fog of poor decisions.
