This five guys was so horrendous that I decided to download yelp to review it. The service: a presumably new girl to the job was at the register and seemed mildly confused. I did not get my order until a half an hour later because of the unorganized and unprofessional things that were going on behind the glass. The line was almost out the door not because the food is good, because it took way too long for them to make each order. The workers scrambled trying to throw things together and make burgers. One man was basically doing everything and it was very stressful to watch. The food is not good in any way. The only good thing I would say is that the milkshake is pretty nice. read more

I showed up @6:30 for an order that was supposed to be ready at 6:26 and at 6:50 I asked how much longer and somehow they didn't have. I finally get it at 7:00 made it home and of the five items were totally WRONG. It is not the first time but my son loves their burgers for some stupid reason. read more

I go in and order a double cheeseburger with fries. It takes about 10 minutes to come out (With free peanuts) And guess what? I saw the workers THROW my french fries in the bag! I'm not even kidding! I went home and ate the food. The fries don't taste as good as they did before, and the cheeseburger was ok. Just had my first 5 guys experience and I loved it. To make a review of a place I definitely believe you need to wait a month or two after the opening, the first weekend at a place like this u have to expect an out of sorts mad house. I usually prefer my burgers med rare but unless you are going to a sit down restaurant you are likely to only have a well done option. I ordered the Bacon cheeseburger with jalapenos lettuce tomato and mayo with the cajun fries. The burger was extremely tasty and I loved the fries. I would describe this place as a slower paced fast food joint. The only negative was the seeming could care less attitude of the girl taking our order. The burger and fries will keep me coming back. I ordered 2 cheeseburgers,fries and 2 milk shakes. The cheeseburgers and fries were ready in ample time but they didn't make the milkshakes. When I asked about them the employee yeah I will do it in a minute. How can the burgers be done before the milkshakes ? Still can't get over the hair pins I found in the French fry tray - after I had eaten all but the fries on the bottom of course. It was the worst sickening feeling because it was way too late. Food is always delicious! Fries are cooked well, not soggy like some other places. my children really enjoyed the peanuts (they had never had them shelled before - had a blast breaking them open!). We sat at a high stool table and unfortunately my younger son fell off - just unbalanced... his burger fell on the floor and they quickly offered to make him a new one (and continually asked if he was ok)! I didn't even have to ask. They came right over and cleaned up the ketchup that had splattered all over the floor. very nice staff, clean restaurant and bathroom! large parking area available for use. read more

Five Guys is exactly what Stoneham needs to bring business back to the area. The place is always packed, but the food is worth it. Everything is fresh. All of the food is prepared right in the store and never frozen. They cut the french fries from fresh potatoes daily and are very enthusiastic about their food and making the experience enjoyable for the customers. A little burger is not for kids, so don't be fooled. It is actually a single patty burger (the regular burgers have two patties). One little burger is usually enough for me. The fries aren't always the best, but you also have to remember that most of the workers are new and have never done this before. I am sure that as time goes on everything will only improve. The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because of the manager. She was very rude and unprofessional when I visited. She had an attitude of not caring when I saw her interact with another customer and a forced smile that anyone could see through. I also watched the way she talked to the other employees and it was awful. She acted like a tyrant and was quite snappy. I feel bad for the poor kids that work there and I hope that they find a replacement for her soon. I know that I do not want to go there when she is working. read more

4 of us went to this location this past Friday evening. It was the first time any of us had tried Five Guys, but had heard so many raves about it that we were all looking forward to trying it. After this experience, the nicest thing I can say is that it is extremely over-rated. We were very disappointed, not that it was particularly "bad", but there was nothing good about it either. I love 5 guys, but this particular location is a bit too cramped. But it's been the closest one to where I live, so that's why I go here once in awhile. The girl that takes the order seems to be slightly hard of hearing or maybe because this location is a bit cramped, but I always have to repeat myself. There's a new 5 guys opening up in Burlington, so I'll probably no longer come to this one. But the burgers and fries are predictably good, so a solid 3 stars overall. read more

I was pretty upset that my initial review was filtered almost immediately after I posted it. Made me feel like Yelp considered my review was that of a competitor or a disgruntled employee. My review was spot on. After avoiding this place for about 6 months, I decided to give it another chance as I live about a mile from here. I will say they've come a long way. The crowds aren't as big, the fries have been cooked perfectly and the burgers have been a little less well done. If they would only take those patties of the griddle about a minute sooner, I'd go there more often. Also............I don't see employees eating in the dining area any longer. Must've been a temporary thing when they first opened or the owner finally realized you can't have employees occupying tables when you have paying customers standing around looking for a place to sit, especially when your store is the size of a shoe box. All in all, not a bad place to go for a quick burger and great fries. And, the crazy Coke machine adds a nice touch, especially for kids. read more

I came to the five guys stoneham location a couple weeks ago and was so disappointed in the experience I had. I walked in and the place was super packed for it being 8:30. That's not a problem at all though. I ordered and stood wherever there was room to stand because everyone who was waiting was crowding the pick up area. Normally when they yell the numbers it's super loud so I waited for my number to be called. Meanwhile the kids who seemed to be in high school working behind the grill and pick up were all being super loud, goofing around with each other and just being unprofessional which didn't bother me either until it had been 20 min and I hadn't been called. I went up to the pickup area and told them people who had ordered after me were called and I wanted to check on my order and they asked what number and when I told them the kid said "Oh well I called it and put the food down and someone came and got it." I said "well I didn't hear the number called and why would you give my food away anyways to someone who didn't pay for it?" Do they not check receipts?! Another employee yelled at him and told him that he needs to check the numbers before just giving the food away. After that they just said "we will give you a refund" and I was so surprised they didn't just offer to make it for me again and that point I was so annoyed with their yelling back and forth and attitudes that I just wanted out. As I was standing at the register the girl who took my order yelled to the guy giving out orders "oh here is the order, it never got made!" Then they all started laughing and just went about what they were doing. I have never had service like this at another five guys but I definitely blame the young employees on why they are having such bad service and reviews. Last time. This place used to be okay. Now it's just terrible. These jamokes stop giving a craxx a long time ago. Watched the cook slap down two halves of a broken burger on top of each other. Then the wrapper guy finally came along and started piling up the toppings on top until I stopped him and asked him he could at least slide one of the broken halves down to make one buger. Got a confused look as he disassembled the thing. For $13 bucks for fries and a measly sized patty, they could do better. Tonight's fries must have been salted three times-inedible. I was so excited to try this place after hearing good reviews, and then we got our burgers...meh.....I ordered a cheeseburger with grilled onions and mushrooms and after a 40 minute wait got a cheeseburger with just ketchup. Hubbie ordred a cheeseburger with ketchup mayo lettuce and grilled onions, and his ended up coming out without the onions.....The burger quality wasn't that great, I actually think burger king is better. The fries were as soggy as they come, even fresh out of the fryer.....we ordered the cajun fries and were not impressed. Perhaps the quality was subpar because it was the first weekend after the grand opening and it was PACKED! waited 40 minutes for a burger and fries! so i'll give them that but Definitely will not be returning. Smooshed burger, burnt fries. No where NEAR as good as In-n-Out. Friend said they had great burgers. Checkered red & white reminiscent of the great burger joint on the west coast - In-n-Out Burger, so we thought we would try it. Burger patty tasted ok. Sandwich itself looked like the person making it had sat on it. Bun was smashed and although it was a double it really looked flattened. Fries were disgusting - 75% were overcooked to the point of being burnt. It was a shame that they make such a big deal of the fact that they have fresh fresh potatoes and then they ruin them with poor preparation and over-cook them in old oil which I suspect might also have been too hot. We will not be returning. It felt like they were trying to be in-n-out but had no quality control and the people who work there didn't really seem to care. read more

I like Five Guys in every location I've been to but the one in Stoneham. A couple of months ago, I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger with jalapenos and onions, which was duly reflected on my printed order, but not on the meal itself. Well, they got the Cheeseburger part. Just no bacon, jalapenos or onions. When I took it up to the counter and handed them the order along with the burger, they smiled and apologized and said to go to the pick-up counter, There, I picked up the bag, sat down, and opened the burger. It was now a Bacon Cheeseburger. Without jalapenos or onions. Anyone can have an off day, right? Tonight, I gave them another shot. Same order, but with Cajun fries. Again, all printed neatly on the order. When I opened the bag, I noticed that the fries were their regular fries, so I took them back up to the order counter. They smiled and apologized. Apparently having run out of Cajun fries, they started frying another batch. I returned to my seat and opened the burger. This time, they got the jalapenos and onions. They only left off the bacon. Again. I have never written a review on Yelp before, but it seemed to be my civic duty to warn anyone who actually wants what they order to avoid this location. read more

We finally got around to trying 5 Guys as we have heard so much about them - our first impression would have been much better had the eat in facility been clean. Half the tables were not wiped down, there was food on the floor under a lot of them. I would understand if they were short handed but I counted at least 5 employees so not really sure why - this wasn't rush time - it was 8:00 on a Monday nite. The burgers were good - don't appear to be "frozen/molded" and the french fries were fresh as promised but not the best I have ever had - a little "droopy" not crisp. Wish we had known the regular burger is actually 2 patties - way to much for so late in the day - the "Little" cheeseburger would have been plenty and the regular fry would feed 4 people so we wasted a lot of them. The soda machine is amazing - never saw one like it before, and was impressed with the technology employed. Overall it was an okay experience but not great. read more

I just ate at this Five Guys today, having never been to one of their stores before. I'll admit, I was looking for a life-changing cheeseburger--I mean, it's all they do, right, so it would be amazing. It was good, that's all. Just good. I didn't understand the ordering so ended up with two patties, so there was a good beef to bun ratio (one patty might not have cut it with the size of the bun) and it was better than McDonald's. But if the best I can say is "It was better than McDonald's," well, that's not exactly a ringing endorsement. I liked the fries--well done and salty. But here's my issue--within a half-hour I felt sick in the belly. It's now 5 hours later and I'm sick in the belly AND in a really foul mood with a headache--the kind of foul mood and headache that comes (for me) from a junk-food or sugar crash. So it leaves me saying--those aren't quality ingredients, they are just like McD's and Burger King. So save your money and go to one of those, because this place is expensive, too. Or just wait 'til the next time you're out West and go to In-n-Out b/c they use quality ingredients. (I guess Five Guys doesn't claim anywhere to use quality ingredients--but at those prices, I think I assumed they did.) read more

Let me start by saying I am a huge fan of 5 guys. My wife and I eat there whenever we want burgers. Usually at the Medford store or Saugus store. We were in Stoneham last night and stopped there. First the store is filthy. Had I noticed that before I ordered I would have left. Second the music while loud at all 5 guys is ridiculous loud here. Third they messed up both our orders . Also the burgers were ready in 4 minutes. Seemed strange since it takes longer everywhere else.(precooking burgers?) Next while eating an employee came out to clean, finally ,and instead of using a cloth to wipe tables he used his bare hand and a napkin on the bad spots.OMG ! Im surprised the Stoneham board of health hasn't shut his place down. The burgers were decent but never again there. The receipt also is missing the info to fill out survey. Accident? doubt it. My take 5 guys yes Stoneham store run away fast! read more

Price is OK for what you get but the burger was not quite what I was expecting and the fries are actually wet from all the oil on them. Really good chow ... And the staff at any Five Guys always is friendly and seems to really enjoy what they do. I will say that the burgers are outstanding, but sometimes at this Five Guys, the fries can be a little up and down -- sometimes cooked a little too much. But that's nitpicking. For the most part, it's a pretty consistent experience, and since if you want a quick burger, your other options around Redstone aren't particularly great, Five Guys stands out even more.
