Here we have one of those old ways restaurants that has managed to stay open through world wars and civil unrest while maintaining the same hot dog your Grand Pa ate. Unfortunately the quality of the Hot Dogs can be beat out by anything you can make at home. And yes you do get the What the Hell do you want attitude from the staff. This seems like a place where people go simply because of nostalgia of having grown up in the neighborhood.

The veteran Elliot's customer is easy to spot because the first thing that comes out of their mouth is "All Around" or "Works, Extra Heavy". What these two dogs have in common, and what makes it a true Elliot's Famous Hot Dog, is a unique blend of sweet relish and tangy mustard over a snappy Kayem dog made of pork, beef, and spices served up on a grilled New England bun. (All Around has onions, Works doesn't.) I'm normally not a huge fan of mustard and relish, but with so many people asking for just that, I had to try this special blend and was surprised to find my tastebuds craving the next bite, which is saying a lot for a hot dog! The chili dog was a unique set of flavors as well, served with a slice of white (American?) cheese and a chili that boasted whole beans spilling out of the bun. The cajun fries would be better classified as seasoned fries, but still thick and tasty after being served fresh from the frier. Onion rings, burgers, steak sandwiches and even some homemade sweets were available on the menu, but you could tell that most people were there for the one-of-a-kind hot dogs. The decor is vintage luncheonette with ceramic tiled walls, fixed wooden stool seats, and formica green tables. While most people just stopped in to order from the counter and took their meal to go faster than most people get through a drive-thru, I could just imagine the room full of kids after a baseball or soccer game chowing down on the $1.50 hot dogs. College students will find the 12-pack special just as feastable as a White Castle crave case. I still wonder, what came first- the name of the street or the diner?

I have trying to get to Elliot's for years. Glad I finally made it. I tried 3 dogs, hot dog all around, trailer dog all around, and a chili cheese dog. The was no noticeable flavor difference between the deep fried trailer dog and the regular hot dog. They put a lot of onion in bottom of bun, which I like. The chili cheese dog was amazing. Slice of American in bottom of bun melts to perfection. Chili was tasty. Would order two chili cheese dogs next time. Can't wait to go back.

Classic hotdog joint. Steamed dogs. Nice snap. Steamed buns. Fries cooked in peanut oil. Classic that never changes. Highly recommend.

I had the choripapas and a slice of the tres leches cake, and both were delicious. Placed my order in Spanish over the phone and ordered right when they opened mid-afternoon. As others have mentioned, it's a little pricey but glad to support a local business in town!

First off, parking's limited, I think it's only what you see in front of the shop. Secondly, the…read moreturnaround of orders felt really slow (only a couple when I arrived around 930pm). Then saw a few people with take out orders. I'm glad I brought comics with me (asked the waiter if I could go get it while I waited for churros - read later). The vibe I got was if I were in Colombia, this is the cafe style with no windows with their music playing I expect to see and dine in. Now, if you had their food when they were a food truck, same food fare except now they serve drinks! I enjoyed the Caipirinha more, the surplus of lime makes it a spiked Sprite. The Mamasita lemon flavor was pretty good, too. I appreciate that they have a TV with a rotation of food/drink options for people who have know clue what items are. The Butifarra had a nice little heat to it, wish they had a fork or knife instead of a toothpick to let some of the hot air out. Had the Monster Burger during their truck days, love that it has cheese, eggs, bacon and the bacon patty. For dessert, I wanted churros, but the waitress forgot, so I got through half my comic before I asked about it. Waiter came back and asked how many orders of it did I ask for, 1 or 3, told them I only ordered 1. Turns out, churros came out as single or 3 at once, so I ended up with only 1 churro. Even with the limited parking, slow service and communication, I am hopeful.
