Arguably one of the best burgers in Syracuse. Central New York is known for its excellent pizza and wings, our Hamburgers, not so much. The ingredients all seemed fresh, thought the lettuce was soggy. The jalapeños and onions were excellent. The meat was cooked medium well, but the burger wasn't well seared. The fries were plentiful but soggy. In Syracuse, this burger stacks up pretty well. In California or Texas, it would be a two star at best. The service was quick and friendly. There was a line but it moved quickly and my order came up right away. The restaurant was super clean. Parking was adequate, but just barely. Burger and fries (no drink) came to over $16. Not a budget meal or a noteworthy deal. But all restaurant prices seem high to me since the pandemic. read more

I had lunch here today. As I sat when I finished just to rest a minute I watched the girl cleaning the restaurant. She was so thorough. She did each table and the seats with clean toweling. So many restaurants use one cloth for several tables. I even asked her if she hired out because she was so good. She swept. She did windows,etc. the whole place sparkled in no time. It was great knowing they cared so much to make the place shine. I'm sorry to leave anything negative but one thing bothered me. The music was way too loud. I had to tell the guy who took my order 3 times what I wanted. It won't keep me from returning but I'll take my order to go if the music is that loud again. The best burger in town! read more

Five stars for five guys. This is judged on a curve for fast food/quick service restaurants. Five guys is one of my favorite places to get a burger. Until I had shake shack it was my number one chain burger. It's still a close second. Burgers here are always juicy and flavorful though a little spendy. You will always get your moneys worth when you order fries though. They are not stingy at all and they always drop them fresh even if you order for pick up. They're always working hard behind the line but sometimes I've noticed that the café gets overlooked and the tables can be a bit messy. I'm not too proud to wipe my own table but when you're spending 25 or more for two burgers and a fry to split I expect the café to be cleaned a little more frequently. read more

Stopped in at my local 5 guys for a burger and fries. The burger wasn't as good as it usually is. Maybe it's because I got a cold condiment put on top (tomatoes). It made the top bun cold and a little soggy on one side. The fries were cooked perfectly. I've been coming to this location since it opened and have had much better burgers from them in the past. I usually give them 4 stars. Cause fast food never gets 5. This time around it's 2 1/2. I don't know if this location is under new management. But, train your cooks not to tightly wrap the burgers once they've been finished. It tends to make the buns squishy and soggy. read more

The little burger joint quickly developed a cult-like following. At least 10 years ago, I first tried Five Guys at this location. And I wasn't impressed. I didn't understand what all the fuss was about. The fries were good, but the burger didn't impress me. I never went again, until recently. I was in the mood for a burger and didn't want a fast food or sit down restaurant burger, so I figured, hey, it's been a decade since I've had Five Guys. People are constantly telling me how good their food is, maybe I just need to give them another try. So I did. And I had the same experience. Good fries. Decent price. Service was fine and the restaurant was clean. But the burger just did not do anything for me. It was greasy, the meat itself was flavorless, and it was sloppily put together and extremely messy. If burgers are your money maker, they oughta be done better. While everything else was fine, I just can't give a better rating when the thing you're known for is mediocre. I have always eaten at the Five Guys over in East Syracuse and just so happened to be over on this side of town. I can happily report that the food is consistently delicious at both locations. The burgers are super juicy and topped with a heaping amount of cheese, the fries are beyond glorious with their crispy texture and perfect seasoning, and their shakes are creamy and delicious. The prices are nice and cheap too. A wee bit higher than fast food, but much cheaper than a restaurant. I recommend a jr burger, because the regular is a double! The only reason I didn't like this location as much as the other, is that they were much slower than the other location. I didn't have much time and it held me up quite a bit. I love me a good burger every now and then. I try to eat healthy though and I'm not one for fast food and grease, so usually I would steer clear of a place like this. HOWEVER, after a few visits, my bf and I have started to go here almost every Thursday for a pre-weekend date. It is that good. I always get some variation on the same thing: Little Cheeseburger ("Little" =one beef patty instead of two) with green peppers, grilled onions, mushrooms, BBQ sauce, mustard, pickles, lettuce and tomato. Sometimes I get it with bacon. They always pile on the toppings and the combo is delicious. Me and the bf always get an order of Regular fries and that's enough to share (they throw in a bunch of extra fries into your bag, so it's practically like getting a double order). Another thing: everything here is cooked with Peanut Oil, which is much healthier than other oils (less saturated fat) and adds a pleasant, unique flavor to the meat and fries that is characteristic of this establishment. I'm not sure if that poses a problem for those with peanut allergies though, so you should definitely ask if you suffer from peanut allergies. (Refined peanut oil is allergen-free, so if they use refined peanut oil you're good to go and chow down!) So so good, and for less than $14 for the two of us (one Little Cheeseburger, one Regular Bacon Burger, and an order of fries) it makes for a cheap, satisfying weekly burger date. read more

Earlier today I went for lunch here with a couple of my friends and had a delightful time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They also had our food ready rather quickly. The restaurant was clean and tidy which set us up for a more than adequate dining experience. My only complaint would be that they initially forgot the barbeque sauce on my bacon burger. I heard a lot of great things about this place and I was excited to give it a try. I got their cheeseburger with grilled onions, mushrooms, pickles, lettuce, and tomatoes-- plus a side of fries. The place seems a tad dirty, and the tables were sticky which is a pet peeve of mine. Anyhow I got our bag of goodies and the grease is taking over the bag. I'm not scared of grease but heads up because there is a lot! The burger is a 4 star! It is very hearty and I feel like I had a n increase chance of a heart attack but it is really good! The fatal flaw with Five Guys is that someone mistakenly tried to compare and even say that Five Guys is better than In-N-Out. Blasphemy. I will say they make a decent burger. The patties aren't as flavorful as In-N-Out, but there's no doubt these are heads and tails above any other fast food burger you are going to get in Syracuse. The toppings all seem fairly fresh. We also got an order of the large fries. Very salty and a little soggy, but tasty. They came right out of the fryer so they were very hot. I tried putting some of the malt vinegar on them. Not bad. Doesn't beat my favorite - 2 parts ketchup to 1 part fry. Delicious. It's definitely a little expensive - two burgers and a large fry came to just under $18. Food - awesome. Staff - not doing their jobs, but quite a few standing around. The place was a pit. Dirty tables, overflowing garbage bins. And the worst part was the staff member who then started cleaning tables in front of me with a USED customer napkin! Serious training needed for the staff because I want to love this place and go regulary, but I can't imagine eating in the place like that again. I'll give it another try in the future. The burgers here are expensive for a fast-ish food place, but they do taste amazing. To me, it's the subtlety that counts: doing things like putting toppings above and below the burger is a really clever way to make the taste hit you and also helps prevent them from falling out. Their fries leave a little to be desired to me, and by that I don't mean they are lacking seasoning- because the fries are drowning in it. This is the best fast food place for a burger in the CNY area. Second to "Tom Wahls" for upstate NY. Third to "In & Out" (2nd) & "Fuddruckers" (1st) on a national level. Five Guys needs to make their burgers with less grease, if they wanna be #1. U can see and taste the grease when eating one of their burgers. However it's still a damn good burger in my opinion. Also, it's a bit pricy for a fast food burger. My Bacon cheeseburger came to $7. Lower the Bacon Cheeseburger to $5.50 would make it worth it's value. Also that goes for the rest of the burgers on the menu. Overall a good burger, but a bit pricy. There's no way u should pay $12 for a Bacon Cheeseburger, Small Fries and Soda. Less grease and lowering the price of their burgers will make this one of the best fast food burger joints in America and that's one opinion coming from a guy who loves a good burger. read more
