A Bacon Cheese Burger and fries

We came here and we were surprised how good it is it is a small building but perfect food and cheap

Loaded steak sub w/ fries.
Danielle B.

Sams chicken land definitely serves more than just chicken. It was suggested to me that I give their cheese steaks a try, so I did. The steak was very tender, I loved that they used a nice cut of beef. This sub was extremely filling. My husband and I were able to share a sub and fries and felt very satisfied. I would consider Sams chickenland mpre of a takeout restaurant. However, they do offer a few tables for those who may want to dine in. Their customer service is phenomenal!!! Ambiance is very low- key. It's definitely a friendly "mom & pop" vibe. These types of establishments usually have some of the best food.

Sam's has been around for as long as I can remember! It's a nothing fancy on the outside or the inside! It's been the same forever. The beauty of Sam's is their chicken! Always fresh, always delicious! I love the flavor of Sam's chicken! Their fries! Forget about it! Also outstanding always crispy! Their salads, Cole slaw, Mac salad, potato salad always solid! I've heard their cheesesteaks are really good too but I'm obsessed with the chicken so haven't forayed into those yet! I don't get here often enough! I've got some leftover from tonight's visit so I'll make some waffles! wink wink! Lololol sorry no food pics had to dig in while everything was hot!

Absolutely BOMB! Buffalo chicken sub

Oh freaking kayyyyy. I was stuck at home doing school work / adulting with no time to cook/go food shopping so I ordered from Sam's chicken land. THE CHICKEN IS perfectttt. Best fried chicken I've had in a minute. Came fresh and hot. Slapped some hot sauce / ranch in there and it's heaven on a plate. Check them out

1/2 lb Fried Clams

I figured we had to give this place a try, since the only fried chicken in town I could tell you about comes from KFC, Popeyes or Krispy Krunchy, so pretty much anyone in the country already knows. I just happened to pass by this place on my way to Solvay and looked it up. Local place, decent reviews, fried chicken we haven't tried before. Can't go wrong. We saw that the steak & cheese sub had good reviews, and it fits our philosophy of trying as many different Philly subs as possible. The sub turned out to be better than average, but I give them extra credit for the meat, because as far as we could tell it didn't come from the same Sysco "Philly Meat" pre-cut squares that 90% of restaurants use for them. The meat was great in shape and texture, and it combined well with the really soft bun. A reliable steak and cheese sub, no complaints. Someone was eating fried clams, and they looked amazing so we threw in half a pound. I don't order fried clams a lot, so I got the math wrong. For those who don't know this, half a pound of fried clams is always too little. The clams were cooked perfectly. They were so soft we couldn't stop eating them, and that small to-go box never stood a chance against us. Let's not forget the main attraction, the 8 piece chicken meal. I don't believe there's such a thing as bad fried chicken, but unfortunately that makes forgettable the new worst. This wasn't really different from fried chicken we've bought from grocery stores or had at buffets. Just generic fried chicken. We only ended up eating a few pieces the night we got it, and used the rest of the meat for salads, pasta, things we made at home for the next couple meals. I'm all for supporting small businesses when it makes sense, but for us, I couldn't justify spending fried chicken money on a meal from here again.

Cheesesteak hoagie

Saw this place mentioned in a Central New York hidden gem for their cheesesteaks and the cheesesteak was amazing! My husband is originally from Philadelphia and he said it was the best cheesesteak hoagie (that includes lettuce and tomato) outside of Philly he has had. It was also full of meat!. It was absolutely delicious and kind of happy, but sad that we live an hour away so we can't go too often. The Cajun fries were great too! They are also known for their fried chicken so we took home a four-piece and re-heated it for lunch the next day. It was extremely moist and very good. Not dry T all and has a nice crunch to the skin. Will be back for sure for another cheesesteak and fried chicken!

Like to start by saying phenomenal customer service. The food was so good I finished the huge plate that was presented to me lol. The breading on the crust of the chicken was my favorite.

A neighborhood staple. Food is always good. Ordered on my way home from work for takeout. Was told it would be twenty minutes-they weren't lying, the timing was perfect. Try the chicken philly, it's underrated.

I moved to Syracuse 7 years ago and I've been searching for the best fried chicken ever since. I've tried many of the popular places but hadn't really found anything remotely comparable to southern fried chicken. I had almost given up hope until a co-worker recommended Sam's Chicken Land in Solvay. When I walked in I was greeted by a very friendly man who took my order (a 4 piece dinner with fries and coleslaw) and promptly began to bread my chicken and cook it fresh to order. One of my biggest complaints is that many local places will pre-cook their chicken and allow them to sit under a warming unit, sometimes for far too long. When I got my food it was piping hot and everything was perfectly crispy. The fries were tossed in a well-balanced seasoning that I think was also sprinkled over the chicken as well. The coleslaw was pretty average but not bad by any means. Now for the star of the show, the chicken. When I bit into the first piece it had that distinctive crunch you'd expect from a properly fried chicken. It was perfectly cooked, juicy, and well seasoned. Every bite was just an explosion of umami, like getting punched directly in the tastebuds. I wanted to try a bite in the parking lot while it was still hot and while I intended to only have the one bite, I finished 2 pieces before I even got it home lol. I'd put their chicken against anywhere in the city, possibly anywhere over the Mason-Dixon line, it was that good. I now understand why this place has such a dedicated, almost cult-like following. Consider me converted. 10/10

3 piece fried chicken with onion rings from Sams Chicken Land.
Thomas C.

In 1976, Sam Awwad, a young immigrant, started a restaurant called The Chicken Basket in North Syracuse. Over the next few years, Sam and his wife, Nazar, perfect his delicious recipes and built a loyal following. In 1980, Sam made the difficult decision to sell his business to send his children to college. One year later, people miss Sam's chicken and food, and he missed it, too. He opened Sam's Chicken Land in Solvay at 527 Charles Ave. Sam and his wife Nazar keep the decor simple, and focused on the food and their customers. In 2009, Greg Hrynyk buys the business in April, and quickly realizes that many customers today were customers when Sam first opened the doors more than 29 years ago. At Sam's, chickens and steaks are bought fresh daily from a local butcher, steaks are hand cut, and the chicken is seasoned every morning with Sam's original seasonings. I wanted to find good, fresh fried chicken in the Syracuse area that was not from a chain store. My search lead me to Sam's Chicken Land. The ratings were great, so I ordered from them one day for lunch. I was craving buffalo chicken, so I went with their buffalo tenders and special seasoned fries. Their website is kinda a pain to use if you're ordering online, but I eventually got it worked out. My food was not ready when I got there, but I only had a 15 minutes drive, so I waited another 15 minutes or so before my food was ready. Everything was alright...I wasn't blown away. Kinda hard to screw up buffalo tenders, but covering them in sauce doesn't really speak to their breading recipe. On top of that, while the seasoning they use on their fries is tasty, they use cheap crinkle fries, and I personally despise crinkle fries. So I decided to give them another try. This time, I ordered a 3 piece chicken only, plus an order of their onion rings. My food again wasn't ready when I arrived, even though it had been 35 minutes since I ordered this time. Their chicken is breaded and fried fresh when you order...lesson being, if you don't have 30 minutes to an hour to wait, this isn't the place for you. It simply isn't grab and go. However, if you have the time to wait, the chicken is definitely worth it. The onion rings were also pretty good, also seemed fresh made, large and juicy when I bit into them. But the chicken was awesome. Juicy, tender, crispy, seasoned well, extremely flavorful. Definitely delicious. So...I'd definitely go back, and I'd recommend the fried chicken to anyone. However, I will no longer be going on my half hour lunch break...

Our apps of meatballs and calamari were good but when we got our red wine, it was freezing. Then we were waiting for at least a half an hour for our food. My sister was starting to worry about getting to her graduation despite us booking 2 hours ahead of her ceremony. When we received our food, all meals came except mine which was about 10 mins after everyone else. The best meals were the Chicken Riggies & Chicken Milanese. The Chicken Piccata was very heavy of Dijon and the Chicken Marsala tasted like Chicken Teriyaki; needless to say, neither dish tasted like its traditional description. Lastly, the Clam Provencal was void of flavor. Half of our party left as soon as I got my food and we paid the check so we weren't late to the ceremony, but then the rest of our party was asked to leave for another group. Sadly, it was different than what we were hoping for.

The bib I felt was thicker and better quality than other restaurants. We did like the sauce but it may not be our #1. The waiter gave a good toss of the bag at our table and opened it for us. I think this service stood out from the rest. Everything in the bag was delicious. The wings were lightly coated and sauce drizzled on. They were good and hot in temp. The garlic bread was nothing special. Hardly any garlic or butter taste. I ended up dipping it in the seafood boil sauce. Definitely convenient place when you're craving seafood. While packing our leftovers, our server, Nathan, picked up one of the takeout bags. It was clearly leaking, but instead of immediately setting it back down on the plate or tray, he continued lifting and moving it. As a result, the bag gave way, spilling liquid everywhere. It covered the table, my daughter's cellphone, my other daughter's purses, and the surrounding area before the bag ultimately dropped onto the floor. I understand that accidents happen, and we would have been much more understanding if this had simply been an unavoidable mistake. However, Nathan could clearly see that the bag was leaking. Instead of setting it back down immediately to prevent a bigger mess, he continued moving it, which caused the bag to burst and spill everywhere. That is what made this situation so frustrating. Rather than handling the situation with urgency or concern, Nathan simply left the spilled bag on the floor, grabbed another bag from a nearby table, and continued packing the food. He apologized, but no one offered towels, extra napkins, assistance with cleaning up, or any type of compensation. We were left to clean the mess ourselves using the napkins already on the table. The only thing that was cleaned was the floor. An employee came over with a dirty mop and bucket and mopped around us while we were still trying to gather our belongings and clean ourselves up. Not once did anyone ask if my daughter was okay or show any real concern for the damage to her phone or our belongings. When my other daughter's purses were covered in the spilled food and liquid, the only thing Nathan offered was a rag and a bottle of Windex, which was completely inappropriate considering the situation. My daughter's phone is now displaying a liquid detection warning in the charging port and may need to be replaced because of the spill. Sadly, this isn't our first negative experience with Nathan. Every time we've had him as our server, he has had an attitude and wears an earbud throughout the entire meal, which comes across as unprofessional and inattentive. Since gratuity was automatically included, it honestly felt like there was little concern about providing quality customer service. We chose Aloha Krab to celebrate with our family, but instead we left frustrated and disappointed. We hope management takes this complaint seriously, addresses this incident appropriately, and reaches out regarding the damage to my daughter's phone. After this experience, we have decided that we will not be returning to Aloha Krab. What should have been a special family celebration turned into a frustrating and disappointing experience. We expected much better service and professionalism, especially after spending over $600. We hope management takes the necessary steps to ensure no other family has to experience what we did.

So far so good. Very nice young woman looked after us. My wife ordered the rigatoni and I had the chops. She loved her rigatoni so much she's finishing it off 2 days later and still loving it. Sadly my dish was a bit of a disappointment. My two large chops were extremely fatty. It's the kind you simply can't cut through on a slippery plate. Trying to separate what little meat there was from the fat was impossible so I had to give up and bring it home to a cutting board and an extremely sharp knife. I haven't tried to eat it yet but it looks as fatty as the first. Both had been totally covered by a condiment that I think should have been served in a separate container to allow the diner to regulate the amount desired. The base was a pilf which made trying to cut the chops even more difficult because every time the meat or the knife slipped, the table was showered with grains....all a bit slapstick....! As I previously said, my wife loved her meal and the previous visit was epic so I hate to criticise but I'm just trying to be honest and fair. I think $45 for a couple of very fatty chops with not much meat and smothered in a vinaigrette you might not like is a bit cheeky... In different circumstances I would have sent it back. We were extra excited by what seemed to be their signature dish, steak and mashed potatoes. Well, we had an 8pm reservation, which to me is normal time, but seems to be like a last seating for this restaurant. The place was full upon entering but emptied out quickly during our meal experience. It was just our immediate family of 4. Started with cocktails and proceeded to order the seafood trio app, which was good. Wedge salad, which was also good. Had a nice waitress who had a good sense of humor. The rest went downhill. We all ordered different types of steaks and 3 of 4 medium rare, one NY Strip medium. Ordered a side of Brussel sprouts and some other accompanying sauces. All 3 steaks came out in variations of well done - gross! On an even more disappointing note, we were told there is no more mashed potatoes, which is why we chose this place, and then told only 2 baked potatoes, so we had to decide who gets it and who doesn't. A TERRIBLE thing to happen at a steak restaurant, in addition to ruining what seemed to be quality steaks. The Brussel sprouts came out overly well done drenched in their sauce. Bite into any of them and they were totally deflated and not good. We couldn't even eat it. The waitress came back and asked how things were... my wife's fillet was so over cooked the waitress even agreed and offered to remake. By this time it was almost 9:15 and she lost her appetite. The three of us just didn't mention how ours were because it would have just caused chaos that none of us wanted. We NEVER send back food, but in this case, hers was insanely overcooked. We asked to have it removed from the bill, which they did. Regardless, we dropped $430, including a $70 tip (because I am generous... waitress should have done a lot more for us when noticing the quality of what was served to us) for the 4 of us, with only 3 main meals. Just a real poor experience. I'm hoping this was just an isolated happening, but completely upset it happened to us for my daughter's graduation, son's 25th Bday and our 27th Anniversary. All that weekend. Advice to owner: please ensure you have enough product for your reservations. We were not walk-ins. Then, listen to the customer's request for how they prefer their steaks to be cooked and serve as ordered. 8pm reservation should not make a difference from a 6pm. I'm just really disappointed and wish we went to Ts instead, but liked the idea of smaller and more intimate.
