I'm not sure what all the hype is about. I had never been to Five Guys before and figured I'd try it out since they opened this place close to where I live. The burgers were mediocre at best. I ordered a cheeseburger with bacon, and got a soggy, messy, squished burger. The regular fries were cold and because the frying oil had not been changed for some time, they had turned black-ish. I was expecting more for the price they are charging--they are really not any better than other fast-food chain restaurants. The employees were very nice and helpful--that's really the only good thing about the place. I've had better burgers and better fries,for the same price from small local businesses in the area. Like I said, I really am not understanding people's obsession with this place. I love a good hamburger....what they are offering is far from my definition of a good burger. read more

1 out 3 times I got a good burger over the last few weeks. This past weekend I ordered a regular cheeseburger with an assortment of toppings. I watched as the cook squeezed/pressed down on every last ounce of juice out of every burger on the grill. The cook just kept on pressing down on the burgers. I got mine and every bit of juice was out of the burger. Plus the cook put the cheese on at the very end giving me 2 slices of non melted cheese. Gave them 2 stars because the toppings are fresh. Well I used to be a big fan of this place and previously gave it a five star review, but the other day they screwed up my order and charged me for stuff I didn't get...and it was a takeout order, so I didn't find out until I'd gotten all the way home and opened it up. Then when I called, the little punk on the phone gave me a whole bunch of attitude as if it had been my fault and I was being unreasonable. He's telling me he can give me a refund "the next time I come in" and when I tell him "I don't want a refund, I want you to give me what I ordered and paid for" he starts accusing me of "giving him attitude." I'd like to point out that at no point did the words, "I'm sorry we made a mistake" ever come from him, after I lost 30 minutes of family time driving there, waiting for the food, and then driving home only to find I'd been charged for stuff I never got. Mistakes happen, what makes it unforgivable is the attitude the employee gave me instead of just apologizing, acknowledging my inconvenience, and fixing it. And of course, once he started getting nasty with me I couldn't trust him not to spit in my food or something. So that's my story, they make good burgers but there are some serious problems with how the employees treat people and there are other places I can get burgers so I see no reason to put up with this garbage. read more

I love five guys. They have exceptional burgers and fries. But this location was a let down. When I opened the bag I noticed that all the fries were just shoveled into the bag. There wasn't even an attempt made to put them in the cup. So by the time I dug through all the fries to the bottom to grab my burgers my hands were covered in Cajun seasoning as were the wrappings of the burgers. We usually order online. Our order is always right and they're just finishing the fries when we get there to pick up. The burgers aren't always perfectly assembled... sometimes the bun is squished badly or the tinfoil is literally covered in half the toppings, but what can you really expect? The fries are always good and largely portioned (two of us share one regular fry) and the burgers are great too! The food is great. my complaint is more on the managerial staff. I have been to this location numerous times for it is up the street from my house and I have witnessed on quite a few occasions how the management staff treats their employees. It seems to be continuous negative remarks and hostility towards their staff while in front of guests waiting for their food. I would hate to see how this management team treats their employees behind closed doors. I even asked a manager if I could have a certain person make my food cause she was the only one who seemed to know how to do her job cause she does my food perfect every time and I got an eye roll and a huff from a MANAGER! not only do they treat their guest rudely, they treat their staff just as bad. The food was delicious, and the staff was very nice. However, when I got my order home I found a half empty cup of fries, rather than the usual overflowing five guys cup (plus, they usually add an extra scoop of fries in the bag). I LOVE Five Guys! Their burgers are amazing! I always get the little cheeseburgers because the regular ones have two patties and that can be a lot of burger. Great cheeseburger! Fresh tasting, made in front of you. I've had a lot of burgers and I can honestly say that for the price you pay this is the BEST burger. Keep in mine that it is a fast food burger. This is a very good location for five guys and a great place to get burgers and hot dogs. Their burgers are the stars. Don't overlook the dogs they are great. Their fries are popular and they give you an huge portion. They are not my favorite fries. Their drink machine is fantastic and they now make shakes. I always order ahead on their excellent iPhone app and simply walk in and get my good that's ready and hot. We take out and eat in depending the situation. Great Five Guys. read more

For fast for this burger joint is fairly good. I had a ranch burger that was cooked medium. A little crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The sause was slightly salty so that explains my reduced rating and the hand cut fries were somewhat not salt enough. I do like that they have a"bunless" option for their burgers and hotdogs. Five Guys is a good burger place! The place is never too crowded (thank god) and it is very easy to find a table. The lines move quickly and I never have to wait too long for my food (YUM). The service is very friendly and the soda machines are awesome. The only thing I have to say is that sometimes they overdo it with the salt on the fries. Even though I assumed it was because they were still working out the kinks, I didn't go back because I wasn't satisfied with their response to my email. The food is delicious, I love that they use 100% ground American beef and natural products like peanut oil, however at this specific location I have always found my food to be thrown in a bag and when I get it its all greasy and tossed in on top of everything else. I'd have the bottom burger always soggy and deformed from all other stuff they shoved into one bag !and when id ask for a large fry id get a large fry and then tons of fries just thrown in enough to refill my large Fry cup up again at least once. I have been going to Five Guys since they came to Waltham,.... it seems since then their food quality is going down but the prices are going up. Like I said I have been going since they opened and things change every time I go there. I love the taste of the burgers and I LOVE the fries,..... but the size of the burgers are getting smaller,... the way they cook the burgers now is different then they used to which could mean lack of training,... to many people but no one knows what to do. The burgers are smaller and they are dried out,... bacon is extremely hard cause they leave it sitting uncovered on the counter. $15 for one burger, fries ,and soda is a lot to since we are getting less food.... I will NOT go back to there again unless they learn how to cook without drying up burgers and make them big enough to warrant paying so much. read more
