    Seoulja Boi wings
    Masmin P.

Chicken joint with an edge, Butterbird specializes in buttermilk battered fried chicken in sandwich, tender and wing formats. There are a few different flavor profiles to choose from, including Korean pineapple, spicy Chinese, and Nashville. We got the Seoulja Boi wings (came with a ranch-based dip on the side) combo with fries and drink, plus a maple glazed Brussels sprouts aide. It was good - I've never said no to a crispy wing - but not earth shattering. The crinkle cut fries were solid though- crispy on the outside and tender in the middle. (A bit annoyed that my pickup order didn't include utensils as I had indicated in the online order form - they must've just missed this because the straw and ketchup were all in there.) Still, a good option if you're looking for a quick-service type takeout place around Arsenal Yards. They cook to order and you can't fry wings under 15 minutes, so best to order online and pickup.

Got 2 butterbird chicken sandwiches for the wife and myself. One was regular and the other was Nashville. To me, both tasted the same. I was hoping for Nashville hot....there was definitely no hot. Nashville or not...could not tell the difference for that $1 extra cost. Both sandwiches came up to like $33.xx, so not cheat. Quality of the sandwiches was good, especially the presentation. The sandwich is wrapped nicely for easy eating without too much mess. I liked that it had bacon in the sandwiches. Is a fried chicken sandwich worth like $16 though? Place is tiny, has some seating. Lady up front was friendly. Menu offerings is limited. Decor was nice.

the butterbird 3/5 chicken tenders 0.5/5 Honestly would not recommend going here. I ordered online to pick up and when I got arrived there was no service person in sight. I waited for at least a couple minutes looking straight at my order. Someone just needed to hand it to me. I even made eye contact with one of the kitchen service people and motioned asking if I could just grab my order. Maybe it was a language barrier, but they didn't respond to me. I ended up just quickly grabbing my order myself. Can't say much for the interior as I didn't eat in, but looked pretty standard of a set up to me. As for the food, their standard chicken burger isn't bad. It isn't anything special, but not terrible. I was shocked at what they called chicken tenders. They are more like bites of chicken. Definitely not chicken tender size and the breading on mine was still raw. 100% do not recommend.

This brightly colored spot with gold claw handles for their front doors are welcoming and unusual. The casual restaurant has all things fried chicken. The vibe inside is very chill. I opted to get a Caesar salad with fried chicken on top. The Caesar was a little unusual because it had pickled onions and avocado as well but was very tasty none the less. I'd be interested in trying their combo meals or sandwiches in the future.

Fairly spacious inside. Decent space for waiting for take out. Inside, they have few small tables, self seating. With the combo option, you're basically getting a drink for free. They have self serve fountain machine or you can choose the drinks behind the counter (sweet tea or strawberry lemonade). I got the Basic Chik combo (tots). The sandwich is big and very filling. It is served on a buttered brioche but with the sauce and butter, the bottom piece of the brioche is very soggy. Agree with others about the tots. It's not tater tots, they are bigger and very dense with a filling inside. Also got the street corn to try, this was very disappointing. Besides slightly hot flavor, the corn is very bland. I would be back for the sandwich and maybe try the fries next time.

From the aesthetic to the food, this place has got it. High quality southern food meets convenient take out, based around chicken sandwiches, tenders, loaded tater tots, and yummy deserts! And yes, sweet tea. I ordered the Basic Chick combo with their tots. It was so tasty, chicken was crunchy, had a yummy sauce. And the tots were delicious, reminded me more of hush puppies but I liked them. Tots come with their bird sauce which was yuuuummmyy. I didn't wait too long as I went kind of late but I'm sure it gets busy here. Heads up you do have to pay extra for sauce sides if you wanted something more but it's only a couple of bucks. Fun Fact: It's the sister restaurant to Buttermilk & Bourbon!!

I think I need to try this place again cuz my first time here left much to be desired. As a frequent patron of Arsenal Yards, I'm always excited when a new place opens up. That and my love for Buttermilk and Bourbon, I was super excited to try this place ... since it's both in a convenient location AND from the same chef as B&B, which I loveeeee. Unfortunately, it did not impress me like I had hoped ... or at all. My BF and I love chicken sandwiches, so the concept of this place really interested us. We decided to share the Basic Chick cuz the menu was a little expensive. Although the sandwich was yummy, I definitely do not think it was worth $12, which was on the cheaper end of the sandwiches listed, especially since this place is more of a "take-out" feel. The sandwich was on the medium to smaller side and was kind of just ... average. Honestly, I feel horrible saying this, but I felt myself craving Chick-fil-A. Maybe I need to try one of the more unique sandwiches next time, as well as some of the sides, but from just this sandwich alone ... this place was super underwhelming. Another "con" would be the service. It was pretty unmemorable. As in ... I literally cannot remember anything about it ... at all. Good or bad. As for ambiance, this place is so cute and very well designed. I especially love the handles on the doors. I still have hopes this place can win me over and will definitely try it again later.

Friendly service. Had the snack wraps here that are available until sold out. Tasty. Crispy chicken with a good amount of sauce. Decent price.

The brand new butterbird is open in Watertown under Jason Santos. You might recognize his iconic blue hair from Hells Kitchen or Bar Rescue. One of his other ventures, Buttermilk and Bourbon is just a few feet away in Arsenal Yards. There are 6 outdoor tables and roughly equivalent seating inside. They specialize in chicken as the name would suggest. Tenders and sandwiches it seems. The tenders are perfectly fried to a dark brown and covered in spices. The dipping sauce is not as tangy as Canes but does provide creamy contrast to the spiced batter. It comes on a piece of garlic toast with some pickles. You can upgrade to a combo with drink and a side. Of the chicken sandwiches, I opted for the Thuy Bird. This is their vietnamese spin on a chicken sandwich. It has pickled vegetables and like a cabbage slaw. I love spicy things and banh mi so I thought this might be the best pick. It was good but there's a spice in there I can't place. It's not nutmeg but reminds me of a nutmeg. I would most definitely get one of the other options next time. The sandwich comes on a potato bun and the chicken is perfectly done. I am excited to go back and try another. The staff was very friendly with Jason himself on site to see it all went well. I can see this place being very successful. We don't have anything like it in the immediate area and its fast and casual vibe is a great addition to Arsenal Yards. I recommend ordering ahead for now as it just opened. I was the second customer through the door with a huge line building behind me.

    Butterbird plant

I ordered the godfather which was a breakfast sandwich with scrambled eggs, caramelized onions and cheddar cheese severed on a hamburger bun. It was fabulous so I had a second. They are located at Arsenal Yard. They are owned by the same person as buttermilk & Burbon. There is no table service rather customers place their orders at the counter. Service was about 12 minutes for a Sunday morning. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They had plants hanging from the ceiling which was a nice touch. Brings some green into the restaurant. I would return in a heart beat.

    The Incredible Hawk
    Carrie V.

The Incredible Hawk is like its name... incredible!! The chicken is so tender, and a sufficient amount of bleu cheese crumble and ranch dressing. I usually always need a side of ranch with any sandwich, but this one is so perfect it needs nothing else added. Also, can't come here without getting the famous B&B biscuits. Pretty fast service, the restaurant is really cool looking inside, and the food is awesome. Great place to stop by if you want the good quality of Chef Jason Santos' food but need something quick!

    Rajandeep D.

I tried Butterbird the other day, and I must say, Chef Jason Santos and his creative food concepts never fail to impress me. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken Tenders and Flam'n Street Corn "Ribs." The Corn Ribs were messy but undeniably the best street corn I've had in a while. The tenders were equally delightful--crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside, cooked to perfection.

I recently stopped in for breakfast two days in a row while visiting friends in Concord and the food was excellent both times. On my first visit, I had the two-egg platter ($8) with a unique Greek loukaniko sausage (+$7). The next day, I had the same platter with traditional pork sausage links (+$3). Both platters came with home fries and toast, and everything was incredibly fresh, hot, and really tasty. My dining companion also thoroughly enjoyed her meals and the classic diner ambiance. She tried the Florentine benedict ($14), which came topped with perfectly sautéed spinach and tomato, and on the next visit went with the spinach and feta omelet ($13).
