A complete cluster*#^@. Ordered online, it said it would be ready in 5-10 minutes. It was obvious that wasn't happening. They were incredibly backed up but in observing them it wasn't just that they were overloaded, but they were kind of confused and incredibly inefficient. Thank goodness after about 15 minutes or so, I could see when my burger order (the bun and condiments) hit the counter about 12 deep or so. I watched it proceed, slowly, go toward the back where it was waiting for fries (none done despite the depth of line) and then proceeded to sit there for almost 5 minutes until I grabbed the attention of a very busy worker and said "my burger has been back there 5 minutes, just waiting for fries. I visited the Five Guys location around 2 PM today and noticed a concerning situation involving the manager on duty. He was yelling at one of the employees in front of customers and not letting her do her job. She looked very stressed and upset, and it made the environment uncomfortable. I come here often and usually see the two ladies working hard and doing a great job, but today the atmosphere was completely different because of how the manager treated her. I love Five Guys in general but this location is horrible. The place should be shut down for health violations. I watched the cook take a dozen pre-cooked, cold burgers sitting in a container next to the grill and put them on the grill to warm them up. They never got warm enough to melt cheese though. He tested temperature of the almost warm patties by touching them in between scratching his ass. I am not sure if he was scratching his ass to add flavor to the burgers on purpose or not. I would be at 5 stars, except for the price point. A burger, small fries and a shake came out to just under $25. In what world? Ray Kroc would roll in his grave. The fries are always fresh and delicious. Just the right amount of salt. The shakes are blended out of the machine, but still great quality. As you can see this was (previously) my favorite 5 Guys around. Friendly staff, clean restaurant and yes, for sure served up the only burger worth eating in DC...5 guys signature burgers and the only Iced Tea- Gold Peak. Very sad to learn that this location has been CLOSED (maybe temporarily) by the city because the owner hasn't paid the city it's sales tax collected, owing the city over $500,000. For me, all the goodness this restaurant was, takes a backseat to the fact that this owner/business cheated my city out of sales taxes it collected from paying customers. WORSE- the owner cheated and stole from me, their customer, by charging me sales tax on my delicious hamburger, out of this world french fries (grease gladly accepted) and Gold Peak Sweet Iced Tea...pocketed that sales tax and never turned it over to the city I live in and that it serves. You've cheated me and you've cheated my city. If this location pays up and re-opens that's great for the city, great for the economy of our our city and great for hungry customers wanting a great burger but, for me, you only steal from me once. Five Guys is an excellent hamburger chain. It does not taste as good as Shake Shack, but it is much cheaper (about 30%-50% less money). It used to dominate the Washington market in burgers, while Shake Shack was very big in New York (where I come from originally). Eventually Five Guys moved into NYC, and Shake Shack became plentiful in DC. Both are very good places to eat, but, if you want the best burgers irrespective of price, you should go to Shake Shack, and however, if you want damn good burgers, and to save money on that meal, you should go to Five Guys. Also, Five Guys is the one with endless free peanuts, which you can have as a free side instead of french fries. That saves still more money. This is a nice, helpful Five Guys; a good place to go. read more

It was our first time to visit Washington DC, and this Five Guys was the first restaurant we went to off the plane. We've been to Five Guys before, and the food is just as good each time. But there was something special about this visit... the guy working the register. His name is Davon, and he has a special personality about him that really stood out. He is super friendly, genuine, and seems to make every moment count. It's conveniently located by the McPherson Square metro station and a good option in the evening when a lot of the casual dining places in the heart of downtown are closed. The meat is good, the fries are excellent, I mean excellent. And they put anything you want on the burger. My standard is the bacon cheeseburger with jalapeño peppers. It's just a little bit of heaven. Remember that a regular order of fries is large enough to split. And plan for enough time so you can come and enjoy the free peanuts before your burger. This is one institution I hope endures forever! Bear in mind that this five star rating is for a fast food burger place. Firs time eating a burger at Five Guys. I ordered the bacon and cheese double burger and skipped the fries. I did order the large Coke. Great burger! Tasty, plenty of bacon, cheese, toppings, and added the jalapeños. The fountain Coke was perfect. Not too sweet or over/under carbonated. Service was friendly, easy to deal with, repeated my order back for accuracy and thanked me for my order. The restaurant was clean, plenty of seats, and good music playing on the overhead speakers. Employees were busy cleaning the windows, sweeping floors, and emptying trash cans. I enjoyed sitting at the counter facing the street watching people and traffic. It's like live tv for me. Five guys burgers are just something else. I always get the bacon double cheeseburger with everything. Patties are freshly grilled from non frozen meet when ordered. Toppings are always fresh and the burger comes tightly wrapped in foil, which makes eating very easy, just peel as you go. Fries are always on point, and cooked In peanut oil, which adds to the amazing flavor. I have never been disappointed in any five guy burger I have ever had, and I consider it the best fast food burger on the market. Well, well, well, Five Guys again. This is my first time at this location next to the McPherson Metro (east stop), and I was a little surprised for reasons I will detail below. The environment was that of a typical Five Guys. Hard surfaces amplify the volume in the dining room. You can always see what the cooks are doing. There are very little frills disguising what the restaurant does: quality food with quality ingredients. Until now. This was the first time their fries unsatisfied me. As I waited in the line for the bathroom I was able to see what the fry guy does with the fries, and I wanted every secret to their delicious fries. Now I'm the kind of guy that likes my fries crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. When I watched the guy dunk the fries in the oil for a second dip, I thought they double fried their fries. To my dismay, he pulled the fries out of the oil within seconds of their second dip. Now as a guy that enjoys the science behind cooking, it didn't register to me that he basically undermined the whole principle of frying. That principle is cavitation, or the creation of bubbles under the surface of the food. When anything is dipped in hot oil, the water on the cells of the surface of the food instantly evaporate. This leaves behind a bubble that the proteins and carbohydrates created. By dipping the fries in oil for a second time (and probably not as hot as before), the oil rushes to fill in the precious bubbles you've created before, and coats the fries in oil. As a result, my fries turned out soggy and oily, a bellyache of a reminder of what my stomach has to endure for the next few hours--a stomach full of peanut oil oil-soaked potato strips. On the upside, I did try their milkshake and it was solid. I got a chocolate milkshake with bacon bits and it was delicious. The milkshake came in a standard 12 Oz cup, which I thought was a bit small for a milkshake that would eventually end up being $5 after tax. Fortunately I got more than enough bacon. The only bad part was that the bacon chunks were too big to fit through the straw, but that's not really a bad thing, is it? In the end I think I will stick to their burgers and this milkshake, but I will be wary of how they prepare their fries read more

The burgers here are really good and the french fries are amazing. They're so crunchy and not too salty. The staff was very friendly and carried out my order quickly. The place was also clean and they sanitize pretty well (which is very important now that we're in a pandemic). I don't usually go to Five Guys but every time I do, I never leave disappointed. They have good prices for pretty large portions so you can get a really good meal here. I like how everyone follows CDC guidelines and make sure to stand six feet apart from each other in the lines. This was one of my first time trying Five Guys, I have heard about this place from many friends so I was excited to finally try it. I got a cheeseburger and some fries. I will say they have a very unique and delicious taste. I believe my favorite part of the meal I ordered was the fries. They had just the right amount of salt and were so crispy and crunchy. It's amazing how good their food is because after all they are considered a fast-food restaurant. I also enjoyed how they are handling the whole COVID-19 situation. They make sure that everyone is the social distance when waiting in line and pour your drink into your cup so it's not crowded in the drinks section. 10/10 would recommend! read more
