I have been visiting this store for 3 years. I love their food because it tastes good. But I think it is disrespectful and lacks service to allow people from the street to be at the restaurant tables. That day I was eating and the guy who is always at the corner table near the main door had an unpleasant smell. I don't know why they allow that. I wish they wouldn't allow this type of people to stay in the place. I don't know why an employee of the place gave him food. She was working on the line and didn't give a damn about being in the place with that bad smell. I've been to this location multiple times for lunch and will happily return in the future. While the line gets a bit long during peak hours, the service is quick and efficient. The ambiance is casual and lively but good for a casual lunch meet up. I love getting the burrito bowl with a salad base, black beans, fajita veggies, pico de gallo, medium salsa, corn, and the guacamole is worth the extra charge. read more

Not great. I went to this location for the first time today and got a chicken burrito bowl. They gave me less chicken than other locations do, and the chicken was prepared terribly. It was tasteless and had a lot of rubbery, inedible pieces. I spit out every other bite of chicken that I had. The fajita veggies were also practically raw. Came here to visit from LA Horrible customer service coming from the old lady with curly hair. Rude and doesn't like her job, gives portions that are not even full portions. Burned my sisters quesadilla because she left it in Tortilla press for 5 minutes and completely forgot about it and told me it's not her problem. I asked her nicely to make me another one she said it's not her problem and there's nothing she can do about it and to ask for a manager. Today, I went to pick up my online order during rush hour. The man at the register told me 15 minutes wait and I asked him if it was gonna be 15 minutes or would it be more. He got angry and said " If you don't want to wait, then just go eat somewhere else". I also noticed that he was treating other customer and workers badly. He even threw a customer change at them. Me and some other customers started to talk about his attitude when he told me to shut up. We told the manager about his terrible customer service, and he kept throwing us mean looks. Not gonna lie, I would avoid this chipotle because of the wait time and because of this man. Funny enough, I had already experienced his terrible service and so had other customers. Of all the Chipotle's in America, this is one of the most "city" ones. It's in downtown DC where rent ain't cheap. The price the consumer pays is a crowded Chipotle experience. Go during lunch on a weekday and there will be a long line (though it always move fast) and just assume you won't get one of five tables inside. Expect to grab and go. Lucky for us, there are several parks nearby with benches and Franklin Square Park even has tables (when the weather is nice). If you're the only person left in the country that hasn't been to a Chipotle, it's a Mexican fast casual chain owned by McDonald's. You go down the line and build your burrito and/or salad. They have a variety of meat (carnitas is always good) and all the usual taco toppings. If you're hungry, it's your spot as the burritos are HUGE, filling, and cheaper than other DC restaurants. If you need a stiff drink, they do serve alcohol. read more

3 strikes your out... prior to making my food dude literally put his whole hand in the trash to push it down and only changed ONE glove. They are not consistent with their portions and they charge extra for rice when it clearly says on chipotles cooperate guidelines, rice is not considered an extra topping and is not to be charged. Whomever the regional manager is Needs to check their operations... they advertise that they close at 10 PM every day on their glass door, yet I get here at 8:45pm and their is shut and locked and they said they're closing! For the amount of traffic it gets, this location needs help, or a new system, or something. I love Chipotle but hate the headache I endure at this location to get my fix. There is almost always a line out the door at lunch time. I've tried going as early as 11:30 and as late as 3:30. You can tell that the employees are working as fast as they can, but wait times often push 30-40 minutes regardless. Dont even think about finding a place to sit. As someone who can't take an hour long lunch break but can't give up my chipotle habit, I've tried ordering for pickup online, but the line for picking up to-go orders is almost as long. I've ordered online, arrived, waited 15-20 minutes to get to the front of that line, and then waited an additional 15-20 minutes to get my food. Most recently, I arrived and waited in line for 40 minutes before getting to the front, where I was handed my meal (not on the to-go shelf where I could have grabbed it 40 minutes before, but from the back kitchen area). It had clearly been sitting for some time, and was pretty cold and soggy. Not sure how much this place can do to realistically alleviate the lunchtime congestion, but it seems that putting to-go orders on the designated shelf would be a good start. read more

Very slow service and the dining room was a mess. Drink station not stocked and rajahs were overflowing. The cashier was very pleasant and helped me quickly but the online order was not done when I arrived and the team was not able to make it quickly as they had a long line. It's a chipotle. If you want chipotle, that's what you'll find here. I've been to better chipotles and I've been to worse. This one is near where I live which is why I ate here. If you're looking for good, quick lunch on a weekday you're probably better off walking the few blocks to McPherson to eat at food trucks, if you're willing to deal with a few people heckling you for money. Two of my favorite nearby store front options at similar price point are Buredo and &pizza. There's also some sort of healthy market next door to this chipotle that I haven't yet tried. When I arrived I was told that she'll be with me in one minute, not sure exactly why because I was one of three customers in the entire place. I asked for a bowl with a tortilla on the side. It was almost like the woman wasn't even listening to me. She forgot the tortilla and asked me multiple times what I wanted on it. The steak, I've never had good steak at chipotle. No Chipotle should ever have a 2 out of 5 star rating on Yelp. Especially not this one. As a regular (usually two or three visits a week), I have never been dissatisfied with a single meal here. It's Chipotle, so you know you'll pay $8 (after tax) for a chicken bowl and be full and satisfied afterwards. The employees are friendly and give generous portions. Seating is limited, but there is a place you can stand and eat near the window, which is where I always eat. I'm sitting down eight hours a day at the office anyway - standing and eating here is probably extending my lifespan. The line gets line long during lunch, but it moves fast. Dinner time is amazing - rarely a line and the portions are extra generous during this time. This fairly new Chipotle is at a great location, near McPherson Square. It's right next to my office and gym so it's perfect for me. Bottom line: if you're craving Chipotle and are worried about the other reviews and low ratings for this location, don't be. It's my favorite Chipotle location in the DC area, and that's not an exaggeration. read more

The manager was extremely rude and racially profiled me. He became very upset because I requested another team member (Chris) to make my order, politely. He told me that if I didn't want him to make my order then "I can get out!!". He then accused me of discrimination. Mind you I'm an african american woman and he looks to be of some sort of african descent so that really took me by surprise. I was extremely embarrassed and confused. He seemed to have already had an attitude with a previous customer which is why I did not want him to make my order in the first place. Negative energy transfers. Note: Chris already started my order before the incident but I decided to wait for steak. So I've seen his attitude shift over the 15 min I was waiting. I came in here tonight because I was solo hungry! I had never been to this particular location, but it was along my route to the metro station so I figured why not! I also had never been to one of these restaurants with only a single bathroom, but it was the case here and it appeared as if someone had passed out, because it was locked tight shut for practically the entire time of my visit. Actually I discovered 2 restrooms, but one was out of order. I ordered the steak bowl, which is my usual thing. It was prepared nicely, and the steak tasted spicey which was very cool. The place was a my amazingly clean, and the music was playing just right, not too loud! I ended-up taking half of the bowl home with me. Perhaps this weekend I will run-off some of these calories. read more

For a chain fraught with problems, this location of Chipotle isn't the worst or the best. It's generally quite busy during peak times and the line can get quite lengthy. The food quality is okay, but order accuracy has room for improvement--so it might be better to brave the line than order ahead. There is seating but it's not enough given the volume of people. Other reviews have mixed comments about cleanliness and I'd say this location certainly has room for improvement in that department. I'd probably go elsewhere given the choice. read more

So, I have been going to this particular location since our office moved for the past year. The people are always nice and move fast; however, every time I go to get the SAME thing, it's always a different price. Very frustrating but I never make a big deal about it. This time, yesterday, it was not only more but the food was not good. The lettuce tasted old/dirty and the meat had no flavor. This is so disappointing. Maybe they were having a bad day, needless to say, I will not be going back for while. Sad face :( read more

One other thing I should add concerning this Chipotle: It is pretty clean in my experience. I see other reviewers here on Yelp saying that it is really dirty, but I have been here maybe 5 times in the last 13 months (again, not a million times, but not nothing either), and it is always pretty clean. I would say that this Chipotle is significantly more clean, than the one in Union Station (the top floor one, not the lower floor one; I have yet to go to the lower floor one), than the one across the street from George Washington University Law School, and (certainly) than the one in Chinatown. The first two of those I have given 3 or 4 star ratings to already on Yelp (for reasons other than cleanliness/dirty-ness), and the last (the one in Chinatown) I have never gotten around to reviewing on Yelp (if I *did* review that particular Chipotle right here and now, I would probably give it a low, low, low 3-star rating, with how dirty it is being the main reason for how low that is). Anyway, I think this Chipotle is pretty good and it is rather clean. I don't know (literally, *I don't know* what it is, because I have never seen it myself) what dirt is p.o.'ing so many other Yelp reviewers. read more

Visiting DC with three kids with food allergies can be difficult. The team at the Vermont Ave Chipotle Mexican Grill totally knocked my socks off. They were super attentive and super careful. They made the food just as we wanted it and checked in with us to make sure that we were doing okay. They came over to explain their new Rewards Club and were just a fun group of folks to watch as they interacted with each other and the customers. Every time I've been to Chipotle lately it's been seriously lacking - forgot my chips, didn't take my coupon code, completely messed up group orders, bland food, etc. This is a brand new store in a very busy area of downtown DC so I went in expecting the service to still be a little rocky (week day around 11:45 AM). We placed an online group order for a working lunch but when I arrived after my scheduled pick-up time they hadn't even started on them yet. After waiting for 10 minutes, they finished all the bowls/salads and I was on my way. Got to the meeting and 3 out of 5 orders were incorrect (hard to check before you leave the store due to the tin foil lids & busy atmosphere - lesson learned). Since the orders were so wrong, we came back with the 3 bowls to get them re-made. They somehow managed to get 2 out of 3 bowls incorrect this time around. At this point we just gave up because the store was overflowing, they only gave us a hand-written BOGO coupon & our meeting was already 30-minutes behind schedule. Another odd thing - we asked if we could just give the 3 incorrect bowls to the homeless people on the corner and the manager said no & took them back. Hmmmm. I'd wait a few more weeks (or months) for this new store to work out their kinks. Hopefully the employees and management will be more experienced.
