I would give 0 stars. Literally called them and asked if they still had the specific Sonny Angel I wanted available for trade, they said yes, and they can put it up for hold "until the end of the day", I also verified with them, that I was coming from a city that was about half an hour away. I rushed through traffic to get here, and found out within the 30 minutes, that they gave the specific Sonny Angel I came all the way for... away. I honestly had a very terrible experience at this specific location, and will not be returning ever. If they have something you are interested in, don't bother calling, they will lie to you about holding it, and if you come here, it will be a waste of your time.

Five Little Monkeys is a quaint small business owned toy store for the young and young at heart in the cute Novato downtown area. A big bonus is that it's right next door to the Flour Chylde Bakery. Yes! After enjoying some gluten free baked goods, I wandered over into the toy store. The footprint of the store may be small, but they sure pack a lot into the space without making it feel crowded. They carry toys, books, puzzles, games, stuffed animals, play costumes, model planes, legos...and a whole bunch of other items. I bought a wooden retro (1960s) looking rocket ship for me and a couple of metal die cast cars for gifts. At first I thought the prices would be outrageous, but I was proven wrong. For many of the toys, the prices were comparable to the big box stores. The staff was welcoming and personable. Another bonus about shopping in the Novato downtown area is that street parking is free, no pesky $ meters.

The best Toy Store in Marin by far! the staff here is always so helpful and courteous they go above and beyond to help you pick out the perfect gift and they also wrap the gift for you! Julia and her team are The Best. Perfect for a single Dad like me! Well Done There wrapping service helped me so much this Christmas. thank you for your help ladies!! And helping to bring the joy of Christmas for my Second grade son! The wrapping was top shelf. I am a loyal customer to 5 Little Monkeys for Birthdays, Christmas etc

Let's take it from the top. When you enter the place, it is CLEAN! It like the owner has a background in interior handiwork. Wall trim, baseboards, column trim is all expertly done. The "Fortress" theme carries on in the interior with stone wall facades in the front and rear of the store. They also have little details like swords and flags hanging throughout the store. A really nice touch. They specialize in role playing games and host events where customers can come in and play together. I don't participate but I really support any type of community engagement. They also have a wide range of board games, cards, figures, paints and even stuffy's! Ite really an impressive place and even though i'm not a role playing type of person I will go out of my way to find a way to support this place whether it be to buy board games or stuffy's as a gift for friends or family or spread the word to other gamers.

My 20 yr old son and i loved the excellent selection - something for everyone, all ages! We appreciated the patient, super knowledgeable and friendly help from Kyle (who it was fun to meet in a bunny suit ! :). ) Son picked up a couple of card play mats and i got two new quick to learn / quick to play family games to add to our collection per Kyle's recommendation. They have plushies, a good selection family games and of D & D stuff too... Wish we lived locally - we'd be back often! They have a calendar in store and online for those lucky to come in for evens and gaming ... Let the adventure begin !

Toy Crazy was the second toy store I walked into today on my quest to find a magnetic toy for the "well under 3" crowd called Stick-O. Mr. Baby was gifted a small set and LOVES THEM, but I've never seen Stick-O in stores... and woe is me (woe is he!), I forgot his set at home when we traveled to Marin. Toy Crazy doesn't actually have Stick-O, but they do have an *extremely* similar toy called "Smartmax" -- big, three-dimensional pieces with magnets that flip around inside, so that 15-month-old Mr. Baby doesn't get frustrated because he doesn't (yet) understand magnetic polarity. They also have a whole bunch of Magnatiles and Magformers, and possibly some other magnet toys. Small store, lots of magnets. A+. Having read all the previous reviews, I was bracing to encounter an unpleasant, possibly child-hating older woman with short curly hair, but all we found behind the counter were two younger teenagers -- and a security guard, because apparently someone's dissatisfaction with the "exchange or store credit only, no cash refunds" policy had gotten WAY out of hand. There was a snarky grandmother standing way too close -- blocking the exit from the behind-counter area, harassing the teenagers, and refusing to let it go; there was an anxious mother coming unglued in all directions -- "Stop engaging!" to her mother, loudly imploring her preschool-age daughter to pick something, "So that we never have to come back here!" (as if the store were the scene of a gruesome accident), and patronizingly lecturing the teenagers to "Consider who you work for!" Perhaps the piece de resistance was another older woman who didn't seem to be related to any of these people, but had taken up the cause of the tri-generational Your Policies Don't Apply To Me posse and, having escalated to the point of being asked to leave by the security guard, stood outside shouting at passers-by about the epic injustice occurring within the toy store. "This is not what we do in Marin!!" she declared, and with great indignation. Look, I'll be honest: I was thinking about a four-star review. The downside to an impressive inventory in a small space is that, toy store or not, this didn't really feel like a place where I should take Mr. Baby off my back and turn him loose to go be a kid. That said, I can't emphasize enough how much I *just. can. not.* with the level of privilege & entitlement on display from the other adults in the store when I walked in. Yes, okay, they wanted a cash refund for whatever they'd returned. But I'll tell you: I bought those pseudo- Stick-O sets, & the return policy is right there at the bottom of the receipt. Like I tell Mr. Baby, "All feelings are okay; not all actions are okay." I get that these folks were disappointed, AND there's no call for taking out their disappointment on a pair of kids who are just working their summer jobs -- or so dramatically broadcasting distress about trying to use exactly $14 in remaining credit (without spending a cent more). So, hey: Baby magnet toys *and* not breaking down screaming at "This is not what we do in Marin" customers? Yeah, that's 5-stars-able.

I said hello and explained that I was looking for help finding a white elephant gift for a coworker. I asked for some suggestions. Her response was, "I don't know your coworker." Seriously? I barely know my coworker either. Needless to say, she was no help at all. I ended up turning around and helping myself since I clearly wasn't going to get any assistance. As I was leaving, she said something like, "I'm sorry if I offended you," without a smile. Great. I went down the street and walked into two other stores, explaining the same white elephant gift dilemma. At both stores, the retail clerk took the time to walk me around their store, offered ideas and suggestions to see what might work. Of course, I ended up buying the gift at one of those stores. Novato Copperfield may want to consider training employees to be more helpful when customers ask unusual questions-but then again are white elephant gift questions in December really so out-of-the-ordinary? Just now I searched for "white elephant Christmas gifts" on Amazon and found a ton of somewhat amusing suggestions.
