My husband surprised me with a candle making workshop / class. The website says that you are welcome to bring your own snacks and drinks to enhance the candle fun. Hot wax and small vittles are a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon! Jenn our fearless soy candle leader was informative and fun. I appreciate her authenticity and real connection that she made with us. It was nice to meet someone who was able to be themself. Refreshing. The entire class was an intimate group of five total. Jenn took her time with us and made sure that we were happy with the scents we chose for our candles. The class spends a bit of time talking about scents and how to layer them. Did I learn how to make candles on my own? No. It was more of an introduction to the world of candle making. Give it a try and dip your wick into it. FYI: You get a 15% store wide discount on the day of the workshop. Scents open up more fully in your candle after a few days. One Disappointment: We checked Google and Yelp for their hours and thought we could make it before they closed. We raced over for our candles after work. Google & Yelp HAVE MISINFORMATION about HOURS. We tried to call...no answer. Hours are not posted on their door. So check their website for their hours.

One of the women working there made us especially uncomfortable--she kept following us around and watching us as if we were stealing. There was no smile, no greeting, and overall just a very unfriendly atmosphere. When I mentioned at the end that a more welcoming attitude toward customers would go a long way, she seemed completely indifferent. Update: The experience got worse--the staff didn't even bother to properly wrap a candle, and by the time I got home, it was already broken. After reading other reviews on Yelp, I realized this doesn't seem like a one-off situation. Many others have had similar experiences, which makes it seem like this kind of unwelcoming behavior is a pattern.

We live in the neighborhood and love supporting our local businesses, but the few times I have been in this store left me wondering why I even try supporting a business that clearly doesn't want me shopping there. Today was the last time I will ever step foot in this store again. No greeting, just a hand reaching for the merchandise I was trying to buy. No thank you, either. Seriously, why have a shop if you can't be bothered offering any kind of basic customer service? People wonder why brick and mortar stores are dying...well, this is the reason.

We initially didn't know there was free parking in a nearby parking structure until our friends told us, but luckily we found free street parking around the area for two hours. First impression walking in was how clean the whole place felt. I also liked that there were so many different vendors and cuisines for us all to choose from. Whether you're craving Korean Food, Japanese Food, Peruvian Food, American BBQ, Burgers, or pretty much anything else, you'll probably find something here. Honestly, a lot of the vendors caught my attention because what they offered looked really good. We also spotted a cashew based ice cream shop, which was perfect for dessert after our meal. I also liked how everything was indoors too, especially since it keeps people sheltered from the weather on hot days. Another thing I appreciated was the amount of tables and seating made available. It didn't feel stressful trying to find a place to sit, and we were here on a Sunday. As we walked through the market, I thought the layout was designed really well. The way everything was set up made the place feel a lot bigger and more spacious than it actually was. I thought that was pretty smart. I'd definitely come back to this public market again next time I'm in the area.
