theCARS Company, as mentioned by other reviewers, deserves 5 star ratings across all boards. Service is extremely quick (usually takes a couple hours for normal maintenance; few minutes for an oil change) and fairly priced. They have appointments open constantly and 'reservations' are easy to make. In terms of quality, I have been in there twice--once because my 'check engine' light lit up and the other for the 45,000 mile routine maintenance--and the results couldn't have been better. Problems are discovered quickly and solutions are provided even faster. What sets theCARS Company apart from any other car shop I've been to is their customer care. Point in case: recommending a cheap buff-and-polish job for the many bumps and scratches on my car as opposed to an extremely expensive paint job. Need another example? They offer discounts and coupons constantly. They don't hide them from you. In fact, make sure to politely ask if they have any available and they will respond honestly. Believe me, they've got your back and they're looking to protect your wallet. They seem genuinely interested in your best interest and not on making a quick buck. I actually meant to post this review some time ago, but I forgot, and a recent conversation reminded me. I have to say, I was very happy with this place, particularly the service of the mechanics that work there and their willingness to help me, despite my strange requests. That's the short story. The long story is, I noticed a very unpleasant smell in my car (a few months after I spilled some bean juice in my car, and I thought I had cleaned it up). It seemed to be coming from the back seat, so I went crazy trying to mask/clean it. i used baking soda, whole bottles of Fabreeze, even bleach, still no luck. Finally, I decided I had to look underneath my seat (its a bench seat) to see if there was some kind of bean juice cesspool growing down there. Now, I have no idea how to get this seat up, so I had no choice but to swallow my embarrassment and ask help from someone that would know. I'm sure these guys thought I was crazy, but they were very nice to me all the same, and obliged my request to pull the seat up. They didn't notice it at first, but when they pulled up a cloth sound barrier, it hit them like a wall! They recommended I replace it and even called dodge to see if they had a part for me, but they couldnt find it. I endued up wiping down the underside of the seat and bleaching the sound barrier. Car has smelled fine ever since! So basically, I was just really happy that these guys were willing to help me and didnt give me as many strange looks as I probably deserved. This may have not been a typical car problem, but I could tell by how they treated me and carried themselves that they were professionals. read more

I called the Cars Co after getting into a fender-bender since they were on the preferred auto body shop list for my carrier Harleysville and after reading their reviews on yelp I figured I'd give them a go. I have never dealt with a body shop who has made the repairs from an accident so easy! They run an effective business, are really nice with no creep factor or attitude and are strong communicators, which in my experience with auto body shops or mechanics is very hard to come by. When I called to make an appointment, hey asked me if I had rental coverage, how much rental coverage I had per day and what sort of vehicle I preferred. Vlad had Hertz ready for me when I dropped off my car for repairs. Hertz, the rental company picked me up from his office and took me to theirs had a really nice Subaru for me when I got there(since I drive a Subaru and I did want an AWD vehicle). The work on my car took a few weeks since they had to re-appraise since more damage was found and my carrier uses an outside adjuster which takes a bit longer. I got my car back and its running great and looks beautiful. They cleaned my car(!) and for free Vlad made 2 minor repairs(one which was cosmetic) which was really, really nice to see. I got a follow up call from Cars to see how my car is and they even emailed me a $25 off coupon for future repairs:) I am definitly going to Vlad the next time I need something for my car done. read more

This is the most awful place I've been to repair my car. I was totally ripped off - they are liars. Be careful when you are reviewing the other comments from earlier time- the store has changed its owner and its name in 2016, as far as I know. Recently went there for a small headlamp work & they helped me get off the bumper and light without fixing it for nearly $200 (they charged much more than surrounding car repairs quote for replacing a new headlamp - so I decided to quit). If you wanna save money, buy parts yourself and let them install for you? NO WAY. They claimed that the "LAW" disallow them to do that. I doubt if there is a real law like that but many other shops would do this. I don't know if less than $200 to remove the bumper and headlamp is a reasonable price but everyone I have asked said no. In addition to that, they told me they spent less than one hour to do the whole work (got the bumper and headlamp off) on the phone and then charged me by two hours labor on the bill. But I can't argue it because the phone call was not recorded. I have to pay the bill to get my car back. Even called the police to let them release my car. The police can't help with the price but encouraged me to take this case to court. I can go anywhere else to find a more reliable and more honest mechanic. Will never ever go again. read more

This was the most astonishingly awful service experience I've ever had. I brought my car in this July to be repaired. The at-fault driver's insurance offered to cover a rental for as long as was necessary. We got an estimate, and then a supplement, that estimated the repairs would take 21 business days to complete. They ended up having my car for a full 54 BUSINESS DAYS. They provided no valid reason for the extreme delays. At one point they claimed a part was on back order, but the insurance company found dozens of that part around Boston. Vlad, the owner, went on vacation for 3+ weeks and no one in the shop was capable of answering the phone or giving reasonable responses to any questions. There were a full two weeks where they were unable to tell me what the basic status of my car was. Emails and voice mails were never returned. The insurance company really tried to help me out but with no credible reason for the delays, they cut me off after 35 business days of rental car coverage. Vlad told me not to return the rental car and that he would have his lawyer talk to them. Of course, that failed because theCARS Company is clearly at fault in my opinion. In the end, I sued theCARS Company in small claims court for the $800+ I paid for the rental car. We settled in mediation for half the amount because I couldn't stay in court all day. The court ordered Vlad to pay me by yesterday and I still haven't received a check. He claims it's in the mail but I highly doubt it after this awful experience. Stay away if you want to maintain your sanity. read more

Friends talked me into entering my BMW in a Concours d' Elegance event at Larz Anderson. Once signed up, decided to get the trunk resprayed and install a new Alpina front lip (painted body color - titanium silver). The guys at Cars Company did a great job, took just two days, and under budget. They've done body work on other cars I've maintained but never on my flagship 7-Series. Would use them again. Update posted July 1, 2015: I bumped one of those annoying cement strips that sit in front of so many parking spots. You can't see them once you're in the spot so it can happen, especially if your have a can that sits as low as mine. So Alpina splitter took the bump but luckily did not break rather it but separated from the bumper slightly. I sent theCars Company an email after dinner last night to make an appointment. I was surprised to get a reply less than an hour later saying to bring the car by after 9AM TODAY! Great responsiveness by Vladimir (owner). So I did. Within an hour or so, the splitter was reattached using two-part epoxy that Mike (bodyshop manager) said has a working time of 50 seconds so they have to position it right the right time and better, no curing time, no need to leave the car parked for a day. Good for me as we leave on a six hour driving trip at dawn. Best part - no charge (even though it was my fault for pulling too far forward in the space.) I will go return to them after the long weekend to get a quote to go over the entire car and repair or repaint any of the little dings and chips that occur just by leaving the driveway. Very pleased with their operation and the quality of the work done. read more

I was recently involved in an accident that left some deep scratches on my rear bumper, and in the midst of the insurance process during my search for a local mechanic, I came across the CARS Company. I received quality service from the guys there from day one. They were super helpful, taking the time to explain what would happen with my car and insurance, walk me through the process, and were attentive about my concerns, reassuring me that they would handle everything. And they did -- they took my car in within two days, took on the entire ordeal with the insurance company including phone calls and paperwork, and even provided quick rental car service on short notice. As the damages were relatively straightforward, I was able to get my car back in a little less than one week but I was still pleased at how quickly and smoothly everything went compared to the auto services I've received in the past. The job they completed on my rear bumper looks flawless and they even washed the outside and cleaned the interior when they were finished! In short, the CARS Company did a phenomenal job on my car and provided superb customer service. I'm surprised that there aren't more people going to them. If you're looking for superb quality auto repair service, these guys are definitely the way to go. They get the job done right and will really take care of your car. Could not agree more with Pavel. My volvo s40 was smashed up by a truck. Vlad kept all the communication between Geico and him which simplified things for me. The work turned out great. They even buffed the car out before they returned it to me. My car looks better now then before the accident. Vlad is a stand up guy and runs a solid business. I actually wrote a review for this company before but not sure where it went because I definitely didn't delete it. Apparently I'm not the only who had this experience. I was in an accident and they took almost two months for repairs. My insurance paid for a rental for 30 days. I was going to return the rental and would have walked or taken public transportation, but Vlad insisted not to worry about it and to keep the rental. I had to pay out of pocket when the car was finally finished. Then all of a sudden Vlad was on vacation when I called and he stopped responding to my emails.. out $610. AVOID! read more

I "found" The Cars Company when looking for auto detailing in Waltham and was extremely impressed by the Yelp reviews that were convincingly written by real customers and not by brothers, sisters, and friends. Now, I'm writing my own review. TCC has serviced two of my cars. My 1999 Sable has only 85,000 miles but is too old for expensive body work. A woman had backed into the car and broke a tail light and put a really ugly dent in the bumper cover. I picked up the tail light on eBay and asked TCC to install it and then to use a heat gun to take out the dent. They said they'd try, but couldn't guarantee the result. The result? near, not perfect, restoration, and unless you're looking for that dent you'll never see it in just a quick glance. Then, I remembered, the moonroof hasn't worked in years. It was repaired, too, again without buying the expensive OEM part from Ford. My 2008 Miata's trunk lid also had been "keyed" recently. Again, no guarantee that TCC could just buff it out and wouldn't have to repaint the trunk lid, but after working their magic, the scratch was removed and the lid looks perfect. Not only that, they were able to remove all the sap from the rest of the car's finish and it looks great. TCC's work was excellent and timely, all of it was reasonably (fairly) billed. This week, the Miata goes back to TCC with an electrical problem. In summary, the place is clean as a whistle, the staff is friendly, extremely knowledgeable, is extremely bright and articulate, and does great work. Bottom line: No fear in taking in my cars for service. TCC has earned my trust. And from the other reviews, it sounds like I'm not alone. A great Waltham resource. read more

I just had a basic 20k mile inspection and oil change on my leased Honda and they gave the same service as the dealership, they even followed the Honda specs and it cost me a third of what the dealership would've charged. I was really disappointed in the quality of repair received here. They were nice enough and worked me in to buff out some minor scratches on the side of my Honda CR-V. I even brought the manufacturer's touch-up paint. Unfortunately, they buffed out the clear coat around the scratches and used what looked like a blue ballpoint pen to fill in those that were left. Needless to say, save your money or go elsewhere. read more

Nice guys, but for the detailing service, they suck. I took my minivan in, not one cup holder was cleaned, not even wiped down. Seats were not moved at all, so obvious stains, spills were not touched. I paid 129, and spent two hours the next day really detailing it. Inside windows were not cleaned. They did not even try to get any stains out, just did a vacuum job at the minimum. Will not go there again. read more

I had an oil change done here and I also asked to have my tires rotated. I was told that my front two tires were in much better shape then the rear tires and therefore did not need the rotation. I really appreciated the honesty. The oil change was done within 45 mins or so while waiting. The waiting area has a TV and water to offer although it's not large. I was the only one waiting as most customers are having more significant work done and probably drop their cars off. All and all, the service and communication was very good. I will be going back in the future for additional needs. read more

I went to theCARS after doing some research and saw all the very positive reviews. It seemed like a professional and quality business; unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with the service that I received. I was originally told that it would take approximately 2 weeks to complete my repairs. It took 3 weeks and that's only because I pushed several times to get my vehicle back. Everytime I inquired about my car due to major inconviences of having it in the shop - their response was that I had a rental and I was fine. The final cost of the repairs ended up being much higher than other quotes that I had received. My insurance company is wonderful and theCARS made it extremely difficult for them to do their job - almost resulting in my car not being released the day I was finally going to pick it up. I ended up having to escalate this to our insurance broker who resolved the issues immediately. The only positive I had about my experience here is that my car was ultimately fixed. The overall communciation, lack of urgency and the inconvience that I was placed in was very disappointing. I will not be visiting or recommending theCARS in the future. read more

Be very careful when dealing with this body shop. I have a leased car, and my contract is coming due in a couple of months. I have a couple of minor dents and scratches, and I wanted to bring the car to a shop for them to assess damages. The damage appraisal rep quoted $1,025 to fix a small dent (smaller than a credit card in size) and scratch on the trunk. He went into detail about the amount of work that had to be done to fix this problem, and said it would take them 2-3 days to get this fixed. This amount seemed ridiculous. I told him that I would need to get a second or third opinion, after which he proceeded to say that although their body shop is not the cheapest, they certify that Toyota will accept their work, and that they do a flawless job. When I went to another body shop in the same area, the damage appraisal rep said he would get the dent out with a paintless dent repair for $70. He told me that the scratch on the trunk was normal wear & tear and that Toyota would probably not even charge me for that. He also buffed some scratches for free. Today, I had an appointment with SGS (independent vehicle inspection company). I booked it, because I was interested in their evaluation. Total damage cost came in at $130.00. My advice is get a second opinion before you agree to doing business with theCARS Company! read more
