I had gotten a flat tire the day before, and called that morning to see if they had time to fix it. They did, so I went in. After taking a look at the tire, they told me it couldn't be fixed, and showed me where a big chunk was missing out of it. (Which I was not surprised by, since the flat tire was due to an incident with a curb.) They had one tire in stock for my 2006 Toyota Corolla, and let me know that it was a good brand, but wasn't the most inexpensive one I could get. I appreciated the honesty, but I needed a functioning car more than I needed the best priced tire, so I had them go ahead and put it on. I haven't had any issues with the tire since then. They were polite and friendly, and their service seemed reasonably price. Also, they had a shop dog who is super friendly as well, and I got to play with him the whole time! No one plans on having a flat tire...that being said, even fewer people plan on having a flat tire for a reason that no one can figure out! My dealership could not get me in for almost a week, and since I couldn't drive the car on the spare until then I looked for a local place that could hopefully help me out in the meantime -- I found Waltham Auto & Tire Service on yelp, and decided to give them a call. I explained the strange situation surrounding my flat to Bill and he said to bring it right in, and he'd be happy to take a look at it right away. Within the hour, he had the tire taken apart, found the tricky problem, and even had a solution (and an EXTREMELY affordable one at that!). When we realized the same problem was happening to the rest of my tires, I thought it'd have to be covered my car's warranty, and made plans to get the rest of the tires fixed at the dealership to have it covered. Long story short, the dealership said none of the work would be covered by the warranty, that they couldn't do the work for another week, and that it'd be about 8X what Bill charged me. Needless to say, I was back at Waltham Auto & Tire within the hour to have the rest fixed by Bill. He happily took care of it in no time. Can't say enough about the great group of guys here, honest, friendly and super speedy -- how can you beat it ? Their location is a bit difficult to see/find -- it's behind another storefront, (a dry cleaners?) and adjacent to a JN Phillips Auto Glass. But trust me, it'll be well worth the three seconds you spend trying to figure out where they are. read more

Bill is the only one I trust to take car of my car! His prices are fair and he will tell you if anything actually needs to be done and doesn't try to upsell work that needs to be done. The only downside is that the building is hidden and there's no sign on main street that shows were the building is so you have to really look for it. read more

Woke up to the sound not of pouring rain, but of Monday morning. You can see where this is going. Walked out of my house to find a surprise from the Monday Morning Fairy - a flat tire! Hurray! I work in Waltham, and needed to get this flatty fixed ASAP, so I googled "tire fix Waltham, MA" and Waltham Auto & Tire Service came up. Since I know 0% of what I should know about cars or how to judge a good shop, I ventured out on a limb and trusted Yelp to lead me not into screw-dation, hoping these guys (and gals, if there were any) would be as nice and honest as they are here described to be. Spoiler alert: they are! Called the minute they opened, the guy on the phone was super nice and said "Bring it over whenever!" So off I went, thinking I'd be there all day and might get to skip the mid-Monday morning staff meeting at work. The gentleman who helped me (I didn't catch his name, but he had a sort of Elvis thing going on with his hair... super nice guy) told me it would be about 15 minutes. (Boo. I mean yay! But boo. Looks like I'm making that staff meeting after all.) He came out a few minutes later to show me the damage my 0%-knowing-of-car-stuff-self had done to my tire, and seemed embarrassed for me: I was, in fact, going to have to purchase a new one. So I waited for the sales pitch, and silently cursed Yelp ("Liars!) and expected the price tag of my new tire to be in the vicinity of $1 million dollars (give or take), and be swindled into a slew of other services as well. The guy crunched some numbers behind the counter, and told me that with the tire, the air, the spinning thing they do with it and the bonus air for my sad little donut, plus his time, I'd be out of there for around $80. What? Word! Done! Let's do this! ...But can you take your time? I really don't want to go to that staff meeting... 15 minutes of chatting with the friendly staff later, it cost me $73 (single dollars, not millions of them), and he casually mentioned without salesguy pressuring me that I needed an oil change. This is such a hidden gem of a place. I had a flat tire and my ac wasn't blowing cold air, wanted to find a place that could do both. The Yelp review (and cute dog photos) did not disappoint. They not only fit me in within the hour, but we're able to look at both issues and fix them in less than an hour. I expected to wait hours and pay a lot of money but was presently surprised that was not the case. They explained the issue to me and what to look for, super nice, efficient and accommodating. The main thing back then was that they were close to my employer and always squeezed me in at my lunch time and I'd be in and out within the hour. Three years later I've moved & changed jobs but when I needed an oil change I opted to drive the 30 mins to have them do it. The auto techs at Waltham Auto & Tire are stand up guys that I'll keep coming back to. My "check tires" light came on so I brought in my Subaru. They looked and told me exactly why it wasn't time to do a tire rotation yet, topped off my oil, and sent me off without charge. Earlier in the winter I was having a hard time with my remote start and they helped me identify the switch to get it working again. I had my annual inspection here. And justw two months after that my water pump totally broke down and I have to replace with a new one. I think this kind of issue could be found during the inspection. And after the inspection there is a continuous noise while I am driving and I have no idea what it came from. read more

I have one of my tires fixed there and they charged much less than other workshops. They even offered free check'n'fix for my front plastic shield twice. Those guys are so nice-- they care about you and your car and they always wear smiles. This made my day especially after I got pissed off by the rude mechanics at South St. Services ( the one w/o glasses was an idiot). I had picked up a nail in one of my tires on the Mass Pike and I was gradually loosing air, it also just so happened to be 6pm - the witching hour where just about every auto shop is closed by. Pulling up Yelp, Waltham Auto & Tire came up first - I called them at 6:10pm, saying I needed help and was wondering if they could get me in ... (wishful thinking on my part, right?!). To my surprise, the gentleman asked me how far away I was (about 10 mins) and that they would stay open for me. Did that really just happen? Yes, yes it did. I get there right at 6:20pm, 20 mins past their official closing time, and they take care of me right away. I was out of there by 6:30pm and there was no phony upsell charges, they merely charged me $15. Honestly, I was so desperate I would have paid a lot more and they could have asked a lot more of me. But they did not. Reading through some of their reviews, I think it is pretty obvious that these folks are a reliable and honest company. I will be returning to Waltham Auto & Tire for new tires and sending my family there, these guys rock. read more

BIll has never, EVER charged me more than he should, and he goes the extra mile to take care of the needs of my vehicle. His prices are the fairest I've ever heard of, but my car is always in tip top shape after a visit to Waltham Auto and Tire. This place is great! My only complaint (not really) is that it took me longer to find it than it did for them to fix my tire. No exaggeration. I drove around the block twice, because it's set back off the road (behind JN Phillips). When I explained the problem (slow leak), I was told, "Give me 5 to 10 minutes to have a look." When he returned 10 minutes later, he set a small nail on the counter and told me I was all set. Cost me $15 and I still had 30 minutes of my lunch hour left. I called WATS when I needed two tires for my daughters' BMW and Bill told me they could get them faster and slightly less expensive than a large, regional tire chain that I have used in the past. The tires came in as promised and I was in and out of there with them balanced and installed in 45 minutes. It was nice to see that they use a torque wrench instead of an air gun. Bill uses few words but he did a great job in explaining about my new tires' features. I'm just learning about them but I would like to look into services that they can provide beyond tires. Great service for tires! Waltham Auto and Tire sells many tire brands, and is a registered Cooper tire dealer -which is an American owned and mostly American manufactured tire company. I called around and they had the lowest price in my area for a set of Cooper CS4 tires - balanced, mounted, new stems, and old tires disposed of. They were very friendly and well informed. And they did not try to sell me any extra services - they told me my brakes had another 30% of service life left, and that my old tires were evenly worn so the car probably did not require an alignment. Low prices, honesty, and a pool table in the waiting room - how great is that? read more

I arrived just before 8am on a rainy Monday morning to get a flat tire in my trunk plugged and installed in place of the spare doughnut that I was driving on. I also was in the market for tires all around to pass inspection next month but things never progressed that far. My car has all Cooper Tires and this business advertises to be a Cooper Tire dealer. This was my first visit to this establishment. The sign on the front door read hours Monday - Friday 8:00am to 6:00pm. I waited for over half an hour along with a Toyota Tire delivery man, for someone to arrive and open the door for business. I got the impression from the Phillip's Glass guy across the parking lot that this was a habitual routine but that I should wait and someone would eventually appear. Someone did finally arrive just after 8:30 and opened up with no explanation or 'sorry... were you waiting long?' type of concern. The Toyota guy finished conducting his business and left within a minute or two. Then I explained why I was there and asked if the person I was speaking with was the owner. He said he was. I let him know that I needed to get to work and couldn't leave the car and also that I was unhappy that he was more than half an hour late opening. He basically responded that if I didn't like it, I could go elsewhere . So, I left and went elsewhere ... across the street to Hogan Tire in Banks Square, where I was in and out in about half an hour. Very pleased with Hogan Tire's professional service. As for 'Mr. Customer Service' at the Waltham Auto & Tire Service, I now understand why there wasn't another living soul in his place of business when I walked out of there at 8:45 on a Monday morning .... read more

I called the day of to see if an oil change was possible. They suggested I bring it in within the hour and said it would be fine for me to wait for it while they worked. Then I decided to call them back and see if they'd also have time to check out a squeaking noise that had been causing me to curse at my car everytime I started her up. They said they'd make time and that they'd look into it. It was my fault for driving by it a couple times. Their sign is on the smaller side so you just have to keep your eyes peeled when you're arriving. But despite my idiocy, the man who answered the phone the multiple times I called, was gracious and super helpful. When I arrived, they were prompt and immediately started on my car. In less than an hour, my oil was changed and my squeaking belt was resolved. Total was $50. I couldn't have been happier with their service, and their expediency. read more
