They were great. I needed services on a holiday weekend. I couldn't get ahold of anyone else to stretch my carpet, so I hired them, and I paid for it. It cost me almost as much to have my carpet stretched as it did to have the carpet and pad installed. Very pleased with the service provided: prompt, transparent, and professional. My dog ripped up a 2x4ft area of my carpet in the doorway and I needed it to be patched up. Jim was quick to reply even when they were closed on Monday. He accommodated my schedule and booked an appointment quickly within the week. I was searching for new carpeting for three rooms. The carpet in two of the rooms was all loose and wavy and looked awful. But otherwise the carpet itself wasn't too bad and I wasn't particularly thrilled about the prospect of having to replace it. In the search process I just happened upon "carpet stretching" which sounded intriguing, so I took a look. Based soley on their great reviews, I gave Five Star Carpet a call to get more information. Jim was very helpful right from the start. He asked me to send him some pictures of the rooms in question which I did. He got back to me the same day with an entirely reasonable estimate, and more importantly, reassurance that the rooms would look great when they were done. We ultimately had his crew stretch and shampoo the two rooms for about a tenth of what new carpeting would have cost. Aside from getting all of our junk out of the rooms, all that it involved on our part was a couple of phone calls and sending him some pictures. His guys were great, and the old carpeting in both rooms looks better than we could have hoped for. They renewed my faith that there are still nice people out there who provide a great service for a fair price. Some of the reviews look like the main beef is that they were unresponsive. So this guy puts me off for 4 days, then for our appointment time shows up 1.5 hours early. Is mad because he goes to the wrong address. So once he comes inside he gets upset over the amount of work; even though I sent him pictures of each place there was damage. He just kept complaining and whining so I had to ask him to leave. In showing a rental property to a prospective tenant, it was pointed out the there is a wrinkle, lump in the carpet in the middle of the living room. I did not noticed it before. Did a search on Yelp and review Jim's reviews. I called him on a Sunday night, and he said although he as a busy schedule he could squeeze me in on Monday, since he lives pretty close. He came over and did an estimate and found that the track strip was not secured in the cement slab. This was cause the wrinkles. He explained that to do it right so the problem does not come back he would have to drill into the cement and use fluted nails to secure the tack strip then power stretch the carpet. He also did a full house inspection of any other areas that could use stretching. Overall is you want quality work from a top experience carpet repair person give Jim a call. Jim is great at what he does. He patched carpet that my dog chewed up in 6 different places. He took some carpet from the closet and patched the chewed carpet. You can see the patch only because the carpet had worn differently, but I expect it will equalize over time. He was very respectful and courteous, and took off his shoes when he came in the house.
