Five Star Furniture lived up to it's name! Definitely recommend you take a look here for your next furniture purchase! My husband and I purchased custom sectional sofa recently and we couldn't be happier with the results. Given how small the place looks, they really do pack a lot into the space with many choices. We saw some of the same items and brands that we found at other big "name brand" stores, but for a fraction of the total cost. They also partner with local, Sacramento based manufacturer Standford Furniture for many of their upholstered items like sectionals, loveseats, chairs, etc. This means there's a good mix of common, popular items as well as locally made inside the store. We were told they have a much larger warehouse nearby so there is more to choose from than meets the eye. As I mentioned, many of their upholstered items (sofa, chairs, sections) are made by Stanford Furniture, which is a local Sacramento based manufacturer. This means you can truly customize everything to fit your needs exactly, in terms of style and fabrics and design/layout. The prices were great (way less than you pay at the big chain stores). Plus, they offered free delivery to your house (set-up not included)! The fact that they use local manufactures is incredible and means your custom items are done way sooner than they are with the big stores (we were quoted 6-8 weeks rather than the 12-16 weeks we were told elsewhere). For other items in stock, they offered to deliver that day or the next. Finally, Joseph the sale's person, is fantastic. He was super helpful and patient with us. Plus, we never once felt pressured or that he was pushing us to buy something. He was helpful during the design process and explained to us how different fabrics wear different, what layout to choose, etc. He was also very helpful when there were manufacturing delays, and helped us to get updated ETAs. He even dropped off our new sectional sofa and helped my husband bring it inside. Overall, we couldn't be happier with our experience at Five Star Furniture. Forgot to do an update after my furniture arrived. Coffee table was delivered within a week after purchasing. My sectional did arrive when he said.... About 4 weeks. There was going to be a slight delay because of rain but he rented a Uhaul just so he could make our delivery on time. Only minor improvement is a follow up call in the interim to make sure we were on track or an ETA since exact date was never revealed until the day before but it was during the holidays and Hey I can pick up the phone too. Couch was beautiful and exactly what I wanted. It was the best purchase we ever made. High quality. The cushions are firm enough to not be saggy over time but so comfortable. As a matter of fact it is SO comfortable that it is hard to get up from once you sit. We really LOVE our couch. Really loved the ability to customize my sectional to my needs. It was worth the extra money but still less than $2000 out the door. They can order pretty much anything you find at a big box store for comparable pricing. Why not support the small business that gives you high service? I would highly recommend purchasing from here. read more

Thank goodness because we found the big mirror we wanted at this place that none of the other stores had. It was beautiful and the salesman was very knowledgable and nice. Purchased a custom sectional sofa 4 mos ago. Easy purchasing process, customizable and at a fraction of the cost of competitors. Our sofa wound up being around $2500 at least half of not a third of the price of others we were looking at that were similar quality. The materials appear to be of high quality and have withstood the best efforts of my 3 young kids doing their best to destroy it. After reading the reviews on this site, I thought I would give Five Star Furniture a try. I'm glad I did! I hate shopping at the big furniture stores. It seems like they all carry the same "stuff." It is also hard to get straight forward answers and advice from the sales folks. That is why I like Five Star. It's a smaller store, less to see on the floor, but you can easily order what you want based on the samples in the store. Josef was easy and pleasant to work with. I was able to pick a style, pick the fabric, and upgrade sofa cushions. I could not get that at the other stores. In three weeks (I think it was less), I had exactly what I wanted. It was that easy. Oh, while I was in the store and pleased with the buying process, I picked up a nice living room table set as well. The prices are VERY competitive too. This is such a cute, budget-friendly furniture store. It's a bit overwhelming when you first walk in because there is literally furniture everywhere, but it's oddly, very well-organized. We were immediately greeted by the lady running the store and she asked what we were looking for - I told her a dining table. She directed us to the proper area (back left area of the store) and let us be until we made a decision. We decided to buy a counter-height dining table that came with 4 chairs. The check out process was super quick. They offer delivery for a small fee, and they also offer assembly for a small price as well. We took advantage of them putting the furniture together for us, and it is super study and nice. So happy I purchased here instead a high-end, big name store. read more

This is a small family owned business, and though they don't have a big selection in the store, they are eager and willing to help you find what you want in a decent price range. Some of their products are made in the USA, and even locally. I ordered my bedroom furniture from a catalog and it was delivered and set up the next week. I bought two bonded leather loveseats from these guys and found out if you pay cash they will knock off the tax and even the delivery fee. Now you have to be willing to make it known you want to negotiate the price if you have cash, but at least they're willing to wheel and deal. The loveseats weren't a tremendous deal, brown bonded leather, which honestly feels like it's got more vinyl than leather in the mixture but they recline and will hardly be used as they are more decorative pieces for my front living room. $400 out the door including delivery and set up didn't seem like a horrible deal to me. They also have financeoptions for those that don't have good credit or who can't save like me, I paid cash in full but I was contemplating their finance options. Three months same as cash wasn't too bad a deal either. Not a huge location, so their selection is somewhat limited but they do have catalogs so you can special order. They seem to be more living room oriented, most of their offerings were couches and loveseat's, that sort of thing. Right off the freeway in Midtown, not a great area but a pretty decent location as they are also a U-Haul dealer read more

Had we known about Five Star we would have purchased every single piece of furniture in our house from here. We still ended up. Using a bedroom set and dining chairs. The owner is so nice and he doesn't push you to buy anything from him. The pieces here are handpicked by him so he chooses what he knows is the newest style. I am so glad I checked Yelp before making a purchase from a big name store and decided to visit this place due to their great reviews. In full disclosure, I have not received my furniture yet but will update once I do... This is a small family-owned business and I couldn't be happier with my experience there today. Though in store selection isn't huge I found just as many "finalist" options as I had at the larger stores for a a sofa/loveseat or sectional and better choices for bedroom sets. The owner was exceptionally helpful and friendly without being overbearing and offered to sell me the floor sample on one of the items I considered for a considerable discount. I really appreciated his honesty in discussing warranty options and how they no longer sell them because 90+% of the time they are a waste of money and when people try to file claims the warranty companies come up with some excuse not to cover. In the end I purchased a sofa and loveseat at exceptionally reasonable prices. The owner does the delivery himself (with help) instead of using a delivery company so it will be a little over a week until I receive my new furniture but well worth the wait. Most likely I will also be purchasing a bedroom set there in the near future. Happy to be able to support a local business especially when I am saving money and enjoying the experience! read more

I stumbled on this place when I moved to the area and bought a really nice Made-in -America couch. I found the owner super helpful and I got a great deal on it, so I have since been back for two tables and most recently a day bed. I have gotten great deals and they have delivered it all to the house *assembled!* So worth the tiny delivery charge!!! After looking all over the Sacramento area for 2 weeks without finding a comfortable sofa we found Josef and Five Star furniture. We sat in each of the couches until we found one that "fit" then chose the fabric we wanted and woo hoo 4 weeks later they arrived in perfect condition.
