I heard about Greg and Fix It Now Computers on NextDoor and tried him a while back for a problem on my office computer with good results. This time the problem was my kitchen computer: The screen would scroll all the way to the bottom, very quickly. I couldn't stop it. Then I couldn't get it to scroll back up to where I wanted to view it. I explained that when I called Greg and he asked if I had changed my mouse battery, saying I should try that and call him back if that didn't work. I tried that and it didn't work. I tested the battery and it was only slightly down. Then it occurred to me that I had a new mouse for my office computer sitting on my desk, still in the package. I retrieved that and tried it. I found my computer repair guy! I was watching my friend's toddler when, in a moment that my back was turned, she managed to spill almost a liter Coke bottle INTO my computer. Literally, it fell over dead center of the keyboard and started to glug-glug-glug into my computer. By the time I got baby safely aside and managed to get to the Coke bottle, my computer had spazzed out and shut off. I freaked out! I called him up after finding him on Yelp and he was immediately accommodating and helped calm me down. He helped me work with my warranty company so that I wouldn't be wasting my time or money. About 10 years ago my company let it's service contract expire and, although I had a company PC, I was on my own to find technical support. Fortunately, I found "Fix-It-Now". Greg did such a great job getting my laptop working again that my company contracted with him for several other jobs and I've continued using him for my personal computer support. Over the years he's replaced couple of hard drives, made several upgrades and was always able to get me up and running with negligible down time. Greg is great! I've used him twice now, & he's super-speedy, & awesome to work with. This second time, my issue was a dead hard drive. I was worried that the last three years of my life (computer-wise) were gone, but he was able to copy everything over to a new hard drive & restore my computer within two days (would've been one, except for how much stuff I have on my hard drive). Greg screwed everything up. I brought him a laptop with a cracked lcd screen, which seems like a simple fix. Just replace it....Greg shorted out the entire computer while replacing the screen, and he has no idea why it happened. Then he didn't call me to tell me about it and instead ordered another laptop and was going to swap out the hard drive. I didn't trust him, and when I finally got both laptops from him, I find out he lied about the color of the new laptop. What should have taken a few days took weeks, and Greg never called me to update me. Instead I had to call him every time and find out more bad news. Greg made my simple fix a huge problem, and I lost everything. I would not recommend taking your computer here. Fix It Now Computers should be called Fix It Never. read more

Short version... Greg is worth EVERY dollar spent fixing your computer/system/setup. (Unless you like being frustrated with your computer and want to kill it. Or maybe attacking it with a hammer is cheap therapy for you - for that you should talk to your therapist... but I digress.) He could call his service "Computer repair excellence and really fast service at an affordable price"; That would work too. Greg is a "cheap date" when it comes to fixing computer issues... ( I mean that as a serious complement). Fast - competent - honest - and gets the job done. Greg has retrieved data from "fried" hard drives; chased away evil viruses, saved me a boatload of cash on "anti-virus" programs; given me excellent advice on new hardware; set up Wi-Fi and printer systems; etcetera... He's been there - same day - when my wife's computer (and my wife) melted down; and generally turned "end-of-the-world" computer malfunctions into readily resolvable and affordable solutions. Greg is available (almost always same day) - extremely competent (never failed to fix or resolve my computer problems) - very trustworthy (he comes to my house - so I do trust him implicitly) - and he tell the accurate truth about what is going on with the computer. What may drive me nuts is usually a "piece of cake" for Greg. And I'm fairly "computer literate". Did I mention he has always fixed my computer problems quickly and efficiently? Oh I did? OK You get my point. (Computer store service sucks - been there - done that - got the tee shirt too). Arrrrgggggg. Save yourself some grief - call Greg. He really will fix-it-now. Greg is simply very, very competent. I had the opportunity to do an apples-to apples comparison of his work to that provided by the Customer Support at Fry's. After purchasing a new computer, I asked Fry's to move my critical computer files to my new computer and they totally screwed the pooch--we are talking inability to access important stuff like Quicken Data and Outlook data files. It was very inconvenient, very expensive and a total failure. I called Greg and he did it for less money, at my convenience and in our (RV) home. We had sold our home in Walnut Creek and were leaving town in our RV. I had to have my files migrated to my new computer from my old laptop which had died. Greg came over to my RV and did it immediately, days before we were scheduled to leave town. He put an app on my computer which allows him to remotely access it to fix anything that goes wrong in the future. So I am good to go from anywhere that I happen to be. Greg was fantastic. I spilled some salad on my keyboard which rendered my computer inoperable. He ordered and replaced the keyboard and answered many of my anxious phone calls in the interim at no extra charge. The morning that he had the keyboard he was here and replaced it quickly. He has a 100 dollar charge for an hour of service. He used the rest of the hour to fix some other problems with my computer that had been slowing it waaaay down; it is now running like a dream. He wasn't sure if that would fix another problem that I was having (screen was turning white during heavy use). A few hours later it looks like he solved all of the problems that my computer was having in that hour. He was very conscientious about cost to the customer. He checked in with me about how quickly we should have the keyboard mailed and got it here pretty fast for pretty cheap. Also, he was running a program to clean up my computer and when he realized he was close to the end of the hour, he offered me instructions on how to proceed and contact him for any further assistance.
