Brought my 4 month old puppy here to get fixed after searching for a low cost spray and neuter location. I received a voucher from the city of Long Beach which this location accepted.i believe I only paid $90 something dollars for neuter and microchip. Location and area was a little sketch but had nothing to do with the services my pup received. We checked in around 7:30 and I received a call around 3 to pick him up. Front desk employees were friendly and helpful and the guys who I'm assuming help with dogs in and out of the back rooms were friendly and really nice to my puppy. Overall happy with the work done. My puppy is healing okay and back to his normal self with no complications. Also had concerns about his incision a few days later due to his activity & it was super easy to email them photos to have a Dr review and prescribe medication to help him relax and rest as needed. read more

My experience was pretty decent considering this is my first dog and I was super worried about pretty much everything. You do get what you pay for. Service here is lacking, so don't expect for your pup to be catered too, this place is purely business in terms of getting animals fixed. It costs $175 to spay our pup compared to $600+ at a vet (I called a few places and they were all around the $500-700 range). It was easy to make an appointment online and to reschedule via email (we ended up having to reschedule due to our pup going into heat). When you first arrive, look for the sign that reads "The Family Vet." They have a small parking lot or you can street park. We got there around 8:30, so there were already a few people in line with their cats. If you have a dog, you can just go inside and let them know so they can check you in sooner, so you don't have to wait behind the cats. I already completed the consent form online, so check-in was quick. We paid the remaining balance ($140). Then they weighed our dog and took her in. They called us around 2pm to pick up our dog. We weren't expecting her to be ready that early, so we didn't arrive until a little after 3pm to pick her up, which wasn't a problem. They were efficient in explaining the after-care procedure and provided instructions and pain meds. Then they brought her out with a cone (they used a piece of fabric to tie it around her neck). Our dog was pretty persistent in taking the cone off, which came off really easily, so we ended up putting the loops of the cone around her collar to keep it in place. She was definitely tired and looked a little drowsy on the first day, but she seems somewhat back to normal by the second day (wanting to jump on the couch, jump on us when excited). When I looked at her incision (about 3 inches long), she had some dried blood around the area and a couple pieces of fur stuck. I couldn't tell completely if the fur was stuck on dried blood near the incision or if it was sown into the incision. So far, she seems to be recovering okay, so I'm hoping it won't cause an infection or any other issue. Overall, the process was smooth for us and our dog seems to be recovering quickly. If you can overlook the customer service and potential messy cleanup of the incision area, I highly recommend this place as an affordable option to get your pet neutered! read more

My wife found this place for our cat who needed to be fixed and we were really happy with the level of care she got! The shelter gave us the name of another free clinic but their wait was over 3 months! Seems like there's a mixed batch of reviews. Luckily, I can post that we had no bad experience with the neutering of our dog. We dropped him off early in the AM and picked him up in the afternoon. They provided an instruction sheet on what to expect and medication to provide during the first 3 days. Instruction sheet also included things to help with anxiousness, nausea etc.. We bought some calming chews that we gave him throughout the week to help keep him mellow. Other than the extremely large cone - I think it went well. I was referred to Fix Long Beach Pets via the Long Beach Locals group and am so glad we took our dog here to get his teeth cleaned! His teeth look amazing and when we picked him up, he was alert and happy (I was expecting him to be tired and/or out of it). I wish I found this place sooner! I was very scared to take my girls in to get fixed, although I know it had to be done but my vet was trying to charge nearly 400$ each for a cat spay and 75$ *extra* for a microchip... that was every more reason to put it off until one of my girls went into heat and I just had to accept finding another place. The Fix makes everything- and I mean **everything** super easy. I am NOT fan of using online resources to make appointments or ask questions (because why can't I just speak to a real human :( ) but it was actually not difficult at all scheduling, finding a good day+time, and emailing questions. Everything is super super thorough from start to finish. I felt confident that my baby kitties were taken very good care of. Animal over population is such an issue that so many people don't realize how important it is to get their animals fixed and stop breeding!! The Fix's prices make things easier too, so even if you're on a budget there is no excuse. I feel like they truly care about animals well-being and I love how many services they offer. I took my dog here to get spayed. I filled out all paperwork beforehand; got in line the day of my appointment at 7:30 am and she was checked in by 8 am. I received a call at 10:45 am that her surgery was done and she was doing well; I could pick her up at 1 pm. At 1 pm when I got my dog they were very nice and helped get her in the backseat of my truck. All went well and I definitely recommend this place!! read more

I love that this place is affordable with friendly staff. I have got my two cats vaccinated and spayed/neutered here. They do accept Long Beach vouchers for Long Beach residents so make sure to request one from the Long Beach Animal Care Services website if you are from Long Beach/Signal Hil/etc. It does taken a few weeks (less than a month) to receive, but this location makes it so easy to use. I have never had a problem with using vouchers. I would highly recommend this place. read more

Ok. I wouldn't say I like leaving bad reviews, but I honestly think I should. This place was nice had excellent customer service, but you can tell they are a little unorganized. I took my dog there on Friday, July 23, 2021. They called and said he would be ready at 2 pm. I arrived at 7:30 am to line up at 8:00 am to get him checked in. I was the first person they took in, and when I asked how long it would be for him to be out, she said she had no time that she could give. So after my puppy being out, I already knew he would not be himself, but just like the people at the desk today, I check out that he would be back to eating normally and would be fine by the morning. I was relieved from a bit of stress. By the next day, Saturday 24, he had drunk water but was still no eating. On top of that, he had thrown up a total of 10 times and only peed twice out of the whole day (mind you not normal for my dog). After the night, he did only go poop but mind you, and the poop was not a normal stool; however, it was Diarrhea. Mind you, the paper I was given with the pain meds said he would only have this 24 hours after the operation. He experienced this after 24 hours. Come to today right now when I do this review. He has thrown up three times today, and his Diarrhea is now blood. He has blood all in the back, not where the surgery was at. He has released blood about five times already today. So I'm not sure if they did something wrong or if they were rushing with my baby. Or if simply the tools were not cleaned. I know this place has reasonable prices and all, but honestly, I paid for my dog to get surgery not to be sick like this. Mind you, the cone that they put on him is super big. It drags on the floor at times and can not even lay down comfortably because they but such an enormous cone for a medium-size dog. I'm so saddened that I had a bad experience and come to find out that they are closed today and won't open until Wednesday is more frustrating because I need an answer and want them to pay for anything wrong with him as it says they will pay. But the fact you can't even get in contact with someone because they are closed. They should at least have someone else you can call. Now I'm just thinking, out of all the other dogs seen that day is it just my dog who is going through this horrible experience or is it also them. With that, I recommend not coming to this place unless you want to suffer and be in pain like I see my six-month-old pup every day since his surgery. I will update this post if I get anything new! Hopefully, I can get a response through here. Update: Come to find out, I took him to a vet. I paid 9,000 dollars because they said he is ill. This place is so unorganized if your dog is sick before getting neutered, be aware they will continue the surgery and leave your dog feeling sick after more than they were. In my honest opinion, I think Fix Project did something to my dog to make him sick because before surgery, he was happy, eating, jumping, you name it. Now I'm finding out my dog only has a 20% chance at life, and all because you wanted money, I have to suffer. I do not recommend this place. My dog has low white blood cells; you guys should have not even continued with surgery, but all you guys wanted was the money. So be prepared to maybe hear from a legal team and now hear my dog having low white blood cells and blood pressure down! What type of sicking people would continue with surgery if you saw he was poorly ill. You should have called and said I'm sorry we cannot do the surgery, or at least asked us if we wanted to continue with it. But the fact that when I picked him up I asked the lady how did he do and she said OK, he was excellent, was all a big lie. They do it for the money and don't care about our baby's one bit. So angry and frustrated. I hope everyone learns from my story and doesn't decide to bring them to this place; instead, take them to a regular vet or a hospital, please. Subpar service. Every instance I have been here the employees seem unhappy and in a rush. I get it if you're understaffed but take that issue up with management and not on our pets? Not to mention, none of the DVM's are ever available to speak to anyone. But good luck trying to get your questions answered by the managers in a non-condescending tone. The receptionist seems sweet but it's hard to overlook because it makes you wonder how your pets are being treated behind the scenes. My suggestion is to pay a little more for *slightly* better service at a neighboring hospital. read more

We didn't have a great experience, unfortunately. Right after surgery there was excessive bleeding when she went out to pee, peed blood for 2 days, and excessive vomiting for a couple of days. She wound up having an infection in the incision. I didn't know what it was supposed to look like so a friend sent me a photo of her dog...my dogs incision looked much worse. Additionally, while in surgery I got a call saying my dog was in heat so they needed an extra hundred dollars..although they had already begun the procedure. Knowing now that it's uncommon to spay during heat because it's much more difficult and the surgery is also harder on the dog, I wish they'd have let me know before so I could've just rescheduled to make it easier on my dog. Her aftercare at my vet was almost $200 for a wound cleaning and antibiotics, more pain meds and another 2 weeks of healing/cone. The total wound up being more expensive than my private vet quoted me. The whole experience was so much worse for my dog. I hate to review a place that is doing good things for the community but I looked around for reviews on this place and couldn't find any. If I had seen a review like this, I may have thought twice. I appreciate that low cost spay and neuter helps feral population and helps the community do the responsible thing for pets at a reduced cost. The cost here was about $200 less than my vet. But we paid it on the back end. Also, the staff intaking was a little aggressive. My dog was barking, she was scared and they asked me if she would bite. I said,"no. She's never bitten me" and she kept pushing, saying,"if she does, we need to know. I don't care if you say yes, we just need to know the truth," etc. I had only had my dog for 3 months and she had never bitten me or anyone but because this woman seemed to think I wasn't being honest I had to take her back in and crate her and I had to go back there and get her out. They wouldn't handle her. I found that to be strange for a place that handles strays and feral animals...after I had said,"no. She won't bite" I had my last dog spayed at the shelter, no problems at all and it was also low cost. I think around $250. read more

I took my puppy to get spayed 9 days ago. I would recommend this place to anyone. It was a smooth check in and quick. I had filled out all the paperwork online including consent. They called about 4 hours later that my puppy was ready. They gave me a bag with medication and instructions for her care. My puppy was drowsy and not herself for about 24 hours (as expected after surgery). But after that she was back to her usual self. Worst experience ever, I do not and will not recommend this place to any pet owners! I had 2 bad experiences with them already. 1st experience, I took my dog in to get a spay later on in the day they call me and unfortunately she was pregnant so they needed to do extra procedures and they let me know they would charge a extra $100 for that procedure so I said it was okay, couple hours later they call me to pick her up so I get there and they tell they need to charge me so they do and I ask for my receipts and the "manager" this old white lady has this attitude towards the receptionist (who by the way was being really helpful) and starts to talk under her breath saying "we don't need to give them a receipt, we don't give out receipts, etc" so I'm thinking to myself well why wouldn't they give us a receipt how would I be able to prove that I payed for this? whatever I end up getting my receipt then later on that week I get a email saying I have a remainder balance of $100? Umm excuse me how the fuck does that happen?? (ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ASK FOR TOUR RECEIPTS AT THIS PLACE THEY WILL SCAM YOU) So I'm thinking okay maybe it's a mistake so later on that week I have another appointment to take my other dog to get her spay and I tell them what's going on and she tells me that I do have a remaining balance and I show her my receipts and she tries to tell me maybe it didn't go through from my banks end? Umm yeah I don't think so, she takes copies of it and says that it was a mistake from their part, and all I'm thinking to myself is, wow what would of happened if I didn't ask for my receipts the last time I was there, I would have Absolutely no way to prove that I actually paid and that's why I I strongly suggest that you ask for a receipt even if the manager wants to have an attitude because that's the mangers plan is to scam as many people as they can and how will they prove they paid for something they don't have proof of? 2nd bad experience they didn't call me to tell me my dog was in heat, I get there because they had just called me to tell me that she was ready I get there and they tell me I have to pay a extra $100? I'm like for what and they start to say she was heat I'm like okay and why didn't anyone call to tell me this?? I would like to start off by saying I am not someone who will ever go out of their way to leave a review no matter how good or bad my experience was. (This will be a long review but I hope you read through so that this doesn't possibly happen to you.) Unfortunately, I feel compelled to do so. No one should ever go through what my dog and I had to. I trusted Fix LB to neuter my pup since I had heard from others that this was a good, inexpensive place to take your dog. I arrived a little before 8 am, and there was one person ahead of me. We had also taken my friend's dog with us. I was there early hoping my dog wouldn't have to be there all day. At around 1pm my friend had received a call that his dog would be ready by 2-2:30pm. I was a little thrown off since I had not received a call and technically I was ahead of him. So we waited a couple of hours to see if we would receive a call, and we received nothing. We then had to call to check up, and then they had told us that he was ready for pick-up. We then go to pick up our dogs and my friend's dog is clearly sedated while mine was running towards me. That was my first concern. Then as we were walking towards the car, I could clearly tell his testis were still very much present and there was no sign of an incision anywhere. I was really concerned at this point and went back inside before leaving to double-check that he actually got neutered. Since my friend's dog was behaving really differently than mine. I was then told that it is normal for him to behave the way he was and that if you can see his testis it is most likely because they are swollen. My friend's dog also was wrapped around the incision and was told my dog did not bleed as much, so there was no need for a bandaid. I was still concerned but I just thought well they are the experts here not me. We left and within 10 minutes we received a call that they were mistaken and my dog actually did not get neutered. That there was some miscommunication between the front and the back. That they had double the dogs and there was a lot happening. I understood but my dog had been there from 8am and we picked him up at around 4:30pm. How could you possibly skip over him. We took him back and then we were told that it could be another 1-2 hours. We left him again and after waiting for 2 hours we called to ask how much longer and no one would answer. No one ever called us. We then showed up at 7pm and were told he was still not ready and that it would be another hour. Of course, we waited there at that point, and at 8pm my dog was finally ready to go home. They had not called me either at 8pm we had to walk in to check if possibly he was ready now. After 12 hours our dog was finally ready to go home, and this time thankfully he was neutered. They apologized but I can't imagine what my dog was going through. I understand we are all humans and make mistakes, but this was a huge one. One that honestly shouldn't have ever happened. I hope this never happens to anyone but I think it's good to share my experience in case you are thinking of taking your pup here. I would recommend you look into another place and skip yourself a very long stressful day. I wish I had looked into Fix LB more and possibly even gone the private route. Take this review as you will but I hope this never happens to anyone ever again. read more

Great place seems to me from the reviews that the negative reviews are from people that don't follow directions, the incision on that pet seems a couple of days old judging from the dirt hence the infection also if my dog is in heat i would surely notice it ,so either pay attention to your pets so you don't have to pay extra fee and the only time I haven't received a receipt is if I don't pay full price i think they go above and beyond the pricing is the best and people too I guess attitude goes a long way just a thought read more

If i could put zero stars i really would, so where do i begin, we get there to my dogs spay appointment we arrived literally an hour & 30 mins ahead of the scheduled 'drop off time' to be the first ones in line since there's no set appointment time for any of the pets going in to get fixed. The drop off time was 7:30am, it is 7:15am & it was already three of us waiting outside when i'm guessing the 'receptionist' a big white young woman arrives in the parking lot proceeds to sit in her car for a good 10-15 mins then gets out arrives in sandals & with a dog in hand, doesn't even greet, acknowledge or say one word to us just walks past us like we're not even there. Around 7:40am is when another young black haired lady (who was a bit more nice than the receptionist) brings out a white board with some information goes back in then 5-10 mins later comes back out with a sign in sheet, we filled it then she told us we could go inside to finish the check in process. As soon as we walk in the same large white women who was sitting at the reception desk still does not greet us just starts asking about my dogs vaccine information, when i showed her the vaccine records she proceeded to tell me that she didn't have all her shots, which is something i was not aware of due to the fact that i am a young first time pet owner & when i first took her to a vet clinic near my home i was not notified that after her first round of vaccines that there had to be follow ups. The receptionist then proceeded to freak me out by telling me that my dog shouldn't even be on the ground walking around basically indirectly calling me a bad pet owner, which was somewhat direct due to the very rude tone she used. So of course i agreed to getting the rest of her shots right then & there & they had me sign some liability waivers incase anything went wrong after the procedure, which is understandable but i feel like she could've definitely approached us in a more kind way seeing that not just me but i'm sure as all pet owners would get worried & nervous to such a big procedure being done on their pets. Also when the younger black haired lady was weighing my dog she was really patient with me & my dog because of course my dog was nervous & wasn't standing still on the scale she patiently waited for her to stand as still as possible to get the accurate weight, the large white women then proceeds to try and correct her on my dogs weight when she wasn't even the one weighing her. So then we drop her off & of course now we wait. In the emails that i was sent multiple times as reminders of her procedure throughout the past two weeks building up to her appointment it said that the scheduled pick up time would be in between 11am - 2pm, i understand that these kind of procedures due tend to go on longer but again me being a concerned dog owner i called at around 1:32pm because it had already been 6 hours since we had dropped her off i called to check in on the status of my pet & the same rude receptionist answers the phone with such a weird tone she asked "how may i help you" i then responded by telling her "hello i was just wondering if everything was okay with my pet since i had not received a call from you guys yet" & since i was the first to drop my pet off that day. She then instantly changes her tone to this weird high pitched really fake voice saying "We'll give you a call as soon as she's ready" when that wasn't what i asked i had asked to check the status of my dog she then repeats the same thing 2-3 more times. Finally i received a call saying i could pick her up at 3:30pm i didn't hesitate as i just wanted to get my dog out of this really unprofessional place i arrived at 3:10pm waited until 3:30pm then walk inside to a guy waiting on i think medications for his dog & after i walked in two more pet owners who came in to pick up their dogs as well they had all six of us waiting in this tiny office. As soon as we walked in there was another big white elder lady with glasses who literally looks us in the eye then proceeded to go right back to her screen again DIDNT EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE US. Just stared at us for a quick sec then straight back to her computer we waited for like 5-10 mins. Then the young black haired women who was assisting us at the beginning then acknowledged us & asks us who we are here for i then told her my dogs name & she then tells me she'll get her medication ready & bring her out soon, she quickly explains to me & the other pet owners what to expect & a little bit about the recovery process since we all got a copy of the post op instructions. read more
