I called this company because they helped me in the past. Shawn came out and talked with me about what was wrong with my system. He charged me $2000 for a new evaporator coil and freon. My unit started having issues again so I called another company because Shawn wouldn't respond to call, text, or email. Turns out he did not put in a new coil in and fraudulently charged me for 7 pounds of freon. Have dealt with Shaun and FixMyAC since their beginning. Initially, their service was great. I even contracted them to install a new complete unit when my old one gave out. That was one year ago. Since then, this "new" unit developed an issue that Shaun fails to acknowledge and/or address. I have made six calls requesting service without any response. The woman who answers the phone and schedules service calls is usually out in right field all by herself. I'm very disappointed with how FixMyAC has handled my concerns. So much for their customer service. I highly recommend that you seek out a more reputable and reliable company. One that will not waste your time and/or money. Last night we can Home to a warm house. I did a search to find a local AC company. I found Fix My AC was local, and that I could schedule service online very easily. Shawn showed up promptly and got right to work. He quickly assessed that my capacitor had gone bad. He changed it out quickly and then proceeded to check the rest of my system to verify that everything was working correctly. We had the bi-annual service maintenance check the first year but did not sign up again after that.) He was able to fix the problem-which was all because we weren't keeping up with cleaning out the water drain. We signed up to have our unit checked 2x/year & got a discount on the after hours charge. I spent a few thousand dollars going through this company to find out that they are just way over priced. The guys make you think that you are getting a good price or discounted price, but you really are not. I shopped around and I just asked if I can get someone to come out and tell me what was wrong with my AC. Another company diagnosed the same problem as fix my AC, but they charged me about $600 compared to the special price of $1800 that I was getting from fix my AC. read more

No interest in customer service. Note the many customers who have a similar issue, and read their comments so you choose a reputable company. We used Fix My AC two years ago to replace an entire unit and Shawn, the owner, seemed personable and reliable with no issues whatsoever. We replaced with an American Standard/Trane unit, and felt satisfied supporting a small business for the labor. Our now two year-old unit is not working, and Shawn came out on Saturday Aug. 10 to diagnose. Originally supposed to come from 8-10 am, but ended up arriving at 3 pm. Communicated respectfully via text about the delay, so that wasn't a big deal. He tried to fix what he believed was the issue, but didn't seem to solve the problem. He no longer installs American Standard, and claimed he needed to talk to the rep Monday morning. He assured us we would be priority and he would be out here Monday morning after talking to rep. House is 86 degrees for the last 3 days of waiting, and I am a teacher who is now missing the first day of school for a technician who cannot be bothered to communicate. No word or text from Shawn at all despite my husband and I leaving messages on Monday morning, August 10, so I finally called his business from a different phone number. His wife, Melissa, did not answer immediately, but returned my call when I called from a different number (which is a little suspect). Already we are feeling avoided and disrespected. I asked her why Shawn was not giving us any update on status, etc. and she said that nowhere in the text did it mention he would come out here this morning! Was very dismissive of my concerns and told me "we have other people to service, as well." She also blamed me for not accepting Shawn's offer to replace the part with an off-model part (he offered to do this on Saturday, but would be using a cheaper part manufactured by Carrier, and didn't advise it). We feel completely taken advantage of. It seems as though they are happy to get the new business and install units, but when dealing with issues occurring on these new units choose not to follow through because it is too difficult. Several times he mentioned how he "used to work for the big companies" and how it was so terrible, but it is clear to see that his dishonest business practices show a lack of integrity and disrespect for the customer. In the meantime, we called American Standard ourselves (which is what he should have been doing), and they are sending someone within the hour. 3 days of waiting, being strung along, and missing work time could have been avoided if he was in any way a competent and communicative business owner. ETA: So we just found out the original "diagnosis" and replaced valve that was done on Saturday was basically a "shot in the dark," (and a huge gap was left open exposing the system) and now we have to pay for damage caused by Fix My AC in addition to fixing the real problem. read more

I called this company based on the good reviews on Yelp, since the other AC company kept rescheduling my appointment. My main issue was hot Master bedroom, cool rest of the house. My husband said we probably need an air balance. First encounter: Shawn came out to inspect and recommended I have a zoning system installed w/ electronic dampers. Side note: I was 5 months pregnant and desperate at this point....I agreed to the service and he was out the next day to do the work. (My husband was busy at work so he just told me to do it.) It seemed to work 75% of the time. Air temp kept rising in the evening hours. Seemed strange to me that this wouldn't happen during the peak daytime hours... I called back a week after the dampers were installed, Shawn came after hours to inspect to see what the issue was. Side Note: A new return and thermostat was put in my master bedroom...Thermostat kept rising to 80 degrees in the evening hours, although it was set at 74 degrees. Upon his second visit, he noticed we had low freon, so replaced that. He then recommended we should invest in a bigger unit. Granted our house is only 1700 sqft, and the current unit is a 2.5 ton that is plenty big for the size of our home. My husband was home at this visit, and was estimated about $5000 to replace...then told him, "I can get it for you at $3800." SIDE NOTE: My husband works for a home builder, so he's knows a thing or two about AC units. It was at this point that my husband said we need to get a second opinion. My husband then had one of his guys come out to give us a 2nd opinion on the whole sitch. (He works closely w/ this company so trusts we won't get the run around again.) Now here's what's REALLY wrong w/ our system: 1- Our home is too small for a zoning system AKA dampers, so jumping to this expensive fix was the first issue. 2- The size of damper that was installed was 16 x 20, but only about 6 x 3 space for air to pass through....limited air flow coming through the damper 3- Air leaks everywhere! System is constantly running due to leaks...not sealed properly. 4-Freon leak coming from Copper wire Basically an air balance was what we REALLY needed, but with all these issues above, plus more that I couldn't even explain ... basically it was a freaking cluster F in my attic, partly due to the original AC company that installed the unit to begin with, and was made worse by the "shotty work" that was done by Fix My AC. May I also add I he had the audacity to leave his business card on the unit...wow. Just wow. GET A SECOND OPINION BEFORE AGREEING TO ANY SERVICE WITH THIS COMPANY! HAD I DONE THIS, I WOULD HAVE SAVED MYSELF $1700...I HAD TO SHELL OUT ANOTHER $1500 TO FIX ALL THESE ISSUES, TOTALING $3200 IN REPAIRS. Could have damn near got a new unit for that!!!!! I feel he took advantage of me because I am a woman, my husband was not home (our mistake I know), and I was 5 months pregnant at the time and desperate to have a cool master bedroom. Lesson learned. All I can say is ladies, please be sure you have a man present w/ you and always ALWAYS get a second opinion. read more

Positives: - Came on short notice (others were busy and could not come until morning) - Price was reasonable (not the best and not the worst) Negatives: - Took payment up front and did not finish job. - Did not answer phone calls regarding the remainder of job (Still Waiting 3 days later) - Workers broke trim of AC closet and did not consult owner first. Just left it as is Bottom line: They were supposed to complete the entire job the same day as agreed upon with service manager. However, no one has yet to call. The trim that surrounds the AC closet was removed to accommodate the new unit. However, the installer never consulted us first. They did not even mention it until we inspected their work. Just nonchalantly said "oh ya we had to move it to replace the unit", and no mention of fixing the trim. read more

Arrived at the first part of the window and even called 30 minutes before with a heads up. Diagnosed the problem very quick and suggested a repair that saved me from buying a new unit until I could budget for it. My AC units fan stopped working on the unit outside the house. It was just blowing air in the house but it wouldn't cool. So I came on Yelp and searches for an AC service company and came across Fix My AC and saw that it had several 5 star reviews. So the following morning I go online and request service. I received a call within about 30 minutes and setup an appointment on For about 2 hours later. He came out on time on a Saturday and within minutes diagnosed the problem. He was very courteous and professional and seemed genuine in the information I was being told about my problem. At a very reasonable price and within an hour I was back to having my AC fan turning and the cool air blowing inside the home again. I highly recommend giving this company a shot when your next AC problem arises or just in general for preventative maintanence. read more

Im a United States Army Service Member who is renting out my home while im away on assignment. Shawn installed a Brand New Unit in my home after repeated attempts to properly diagnose and fix the issue. $3500. Once he was paid, I never heard from him or got follow up inspection as guaranteed by HIS company. This was August 2019. February 2020 the tenants said water was leaking from the ceiling and coming into the main floor. Once My insurance sent inspectors/plumbers to the site, it was determined that the "HVAC Condensate Line had come apart due to not being installed correctly" This caused over $3000 in damage. I had to pay the $1000. deductible to the company who fixed all the water damage and AC. After contacting the company Via Certified Letter at both listed addresses, telephone, and website, I have been getting the run-around. I've sent receipts and the documentation from the insurance/inspectors. All I am asking is reimbursement for the deductible that I had to pay. I think its fair considering the amount of damage. Now all of a sudden my phone calls are not being returned. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! Service Members in The San Antonio Area, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! NO INTEGRITY or NO VALUE. UPDATE:Don't do business with this company. My initial interaction was great now a year later and several thousand dollars their product is broken and they refuse to fix it. They have repeatedly sent me bogus invoices to get out of warrantying their products. When I called about a recent problem again, the receptionist was rude and basically told me they won't be fixing anything. She hung up on me even though I requested to speak to the owner. I have to retract my earlier review of 9/18/15. The last time I used this contractor was to install a new A/C system in a condo (efficiency) unit. The contractor moved the old air handler from inside the ceiling into the unit space without approval and just left it there open (no enclosure) to the living area. The contractor told me on several occasions that he would make it right and that was over 6 months ago. Very disappointed. read more

Horrible company. Called to make an appointment for them to fix my AC. Spoke to a woman on the phone that told me they had the parts in stock and would come over the next day. She was supposed to call back to get the address. I call five times and left three messages before she finally called me back over 4 hours later. Our appointment was scheduled for between 8 AM and Noon the following day. At 11 AM the following day she called and said that they didn't have the correct part after all (I had given her the model of the AC the day prior). She said that they couldn't get out until the following day. Texas summer is not the time to find out that the AC company you hired is unreliable. Had she told me the day prior that they didn't have the part I could have found another company to come out. When I asked to speak to the owner she hung up on me. Completely unprofessional !
