My AC was diagnosed with low Freon by a different company a month before the problem; very little cool air coming out of the vents. My home warranty connected me with Robert from Dunn Air. Not much diagnosis is needed from Robert since I'm pretty sure my problem was due to the low Freon. He came out and refilled my Freon for 1/5 the price of the other bigger company (not through home warranty)! Before leaving this review, I read a few of the other 1-star reviews of Dunn Air. I guess the conclusion here is to go with Dunn Air if you need Freon refills, but maybe go with someone else for a true diagnosis. From my personal experience, I give them 5-stars. read more

I have used Dunn Air for a few years now to service my two A/C units, one of which is rapidly aging. I am extremely happy with Dunn Air and recommend them highly. Bob is a sole proprietor and so he really puts passion into what he does. He is also responsive and honest about both cost and time to repair something. His billing is transparent and he is on time. Great guy. i Read Dean H's review, and decided that I would use the recommendation of a long time Yelper. Sure, it was one review, and other companies had many more, but most of those reviews of other companies were from short term minimal participation Yelpers, and maybe even shills. Also, many of those companies had negative reviews about poor service, incompetence, and upsell efforts. Dean's review was exactrly what I was looking for: a solo AC tech with honesty, integrety, and a desire to keep old systems running. Robert took care to discuss my problem on the phone. He never seemed hurried or impatient. He listened carefully to my explanation of my unit's symptoms, and my efforts at self-repair and diagnosis. He arrived at the appointed time on time. My dog liked him. He did a complete inspection. He tested air flow, pressure levels, and conducted a thorough diagnosis. By then I was sold on his abilities, and he could have led me to believe without question that an expensive repair was required. Instead, he determined that a new thermostat was all that I required. He went to his shop, and returned two hours later and installed the thermostat. I asked him to perform a routine seasonal service, which he completed efficiently. My home warranty claim was submitted to this guy. He never called me to schedule time. When I called him during business hours on a Friday, he said he was at HEB and could I call him on Monday. Well that was a sign of thing to come, he came and diagnosed the problem and explained what was going on. During the explanation he proceeds to walk into my kitchen and wash his hands, without asking. As if he lived here. Then, while sweaty and dirty (it was a warm day and my AC's not working, go figure) he sits down, again without asking, on one of my chairs. Seriously? Okay fine, you don't have any manners, as long as you fix my AC I guess I should be happy. Unfortunately the guy just bails. It's been 10 days and he's never called back, No follow up. Nothing. Called and texted several times and nothing. So there's that. If you want someone unprofessional and unreliable that doesn't do his job and doesn't follow up then by all means call this guy. He will take your money and waste your time. If that's what you want, then this guy is for you. I should say this is some named Robert. Don't know if he owns the business or is an employee. read more

My AC went out on the hottest day of the year (so far). We are expecting the heat index to get up to 111 today. I called Mr. Dunn at 8:30 am, he promptly returned my call and came to my house same day. He diagnosed and fixed the problem in about 15 minutes (capacitor out). He charged us LESS THAN HALF of what we paid another company the last time the capacitor went out. He was quick and competent and God Bless him, it was hot (inside and outside my house). After I prompted, he made a recommendation for a new unit and gave me a quote and explained why he recommended that brand and size. He is fair and honest and I can't recommend him enough. Do not let this man near your house!! I bought a house, closed on 5/15/2017, where the seller's had Bob Dunn work on the AC system on 4/10/2017. It was done through a home warranty plan. The sellers knew the AC unit was still making noise but had not had a chance to get it taken care of. But I was given a copy of the receipt and details and asked to follow up with Dunn and that it was under warranty and he would take care of. I first called Dunn the day after I closed on the house. He answered and I told him who I was and the issue. After describing the problem, he diagnosed it and said he would have to order the part. In the last 2 weeks I have repeatedly called and texted with no response. Crickets and more crickets. I am in the process of moving into the home; movers come Monday to move boxes and furniture. When I walked into the house last night, I found the AC unit that is in the house leaking water from underneath and through the hall and guest bath. I am sitting here now while I have a different AC company repairing what Dunn failed to do. When I discovered the water problem last night, I called again to Dunn. No answer. This morning I called again and texted. I received a text saying he was out of town and would not be able to look at the issue until Tuesday. That was it. No call. No offer or let me call an associate. Nada. Again, don't believe any of the reviews that say Robert Dunn follows through or does the job. I have proof, painful proof, that he does not. No customer service - it takes 3 minutes to return a call. Absolutely no calls back. Don't waste your time and if you have a home warranty plan and they send him out, ask for someone else. read more

My AC system stopped working, I call my home warranty company, American Home Shield. They sent Dunn Air a work order. Technician shows up a day later, diagnosed the problem, it was a bad fan motor on the outside unit and bad capacitor. The technician showed me the bad components and how he tested them. He replaces them the next day. He leaves, all is well and then the unit stops working again. I call Dunn Air directly, and the technician comes out the next afternoon, and finds a tripped breaker, no additional charge, he drove from San Antonio to New Braunfels. Wow. Bob Is really a great guy - dependable, honest, timely and very fair. He found ways to save us money on the servicing we needed for our A/C units, and did a great job managing a ventilation issue that we had in our upstairs game room. Nice enough guy, probably did his best. But he fixed one problem and created another one. Now our system makes a loud shrieking noise every time the heat comes on. It's so loud it wakes us up when it comes on at night while we're asleep. After a year of trying to get him to fix it, we've resigned our selves to the fact that we're just going to have to live with the noise for now. I had the exact same experience with Dunn Air as reviewer Mh M. I have a home warranty plan and this is the guy they sent out. My A/C was going crazy, not cooling, the line was icing up, the circuit breaker kept tripping - Robert Dunn says it's doing all of this because of a dirty air filter. I know a bit about heating and A/C systems and told him it's probably a bad compressor. He sticks with his assessment of a dirty air filter. He leaves and within an hour, the A/C is having all the same problems and not cooling. I call the home warranty and tell them the A/C is still not fixed, they sent the service request to Dunn Air and said he should call me within 4 hours. Two days went by and I heard nothing so the home warranty told me to call him. I call, set up an appointment for 10:30 am and he does not show up. I call him repeatedly and finally get a hold of him at 11:00 am and he says "oh my bad, sorry". He says he can come by at 6pm that night, once again, he's a total no show. No call, no text, nothing to say that he isn't going to be able to make it. I took time off of work to be at these appointments. I called the home warranty back and told them this guy missed two appointments with zero notification and that I want the request sent to a different vendor. Home warranty calls Dunn and he tells them he texted me and that he couldn't make the appointments because it was raining and it's an electrical issue outside so he can't do anything in the rain. If that was the case, then why did Dunn make the appointments with me to begin with since it's been raining here non-stop all week!! This guy is a liar and because of what he told the home warranty, they refused to send my request to another vendor. Dunn did not fix the problem, he lied to me, he lied to the home warranty, he makes appointments and does not show up for them and doesn't even have the basic consideration to let you know that he can't make an appointment that he set up in the first place! I also have to say that having Dunn in my home is the first time I've ever felt uncomfortable with having a contractor in my home. I'm a female and during the time Dunn was in my home, I was seriously regretting not having my gun or at least my pepper spray handy. read more

Called and spoke with Robert one evening in late July. He squeezed me in the next day, fixed a broken drainage pipe on my AC, checked the refrigerant, and then double checked the rest of the system. Service was exceptional and bill was reasonable. Will use Dunn Air and will recommend to friends. Thanks guys. read more

These guys are great. As new home owners, my husband and I were a little nervous when we started having a few problems with our system this past winter. Robert came out and took a look at our unit, quickly identifed the problem, and took the time to thoroughly explain what exactly was wrong before fixing the issue. I was very appreciative of the fact that, despite not having a very in depth knowledge of HVAC systems, I never felt like he was talking 'above' me or taking advantage of me. Most recently, as we began to use our AC for the first time since moving in, we had another issue. Once again, we setup an appointment, and this time had another technician, Marcus come out. Once again, the service was wonderful. He arrived right on time, and was nothing but kind and professional. The repairs were made quickly, and again, I felt very well informed about everything that was done. At the end of our appointment, he was sure to give me his contact information and told me not to hesitate to contact either Robert or himself if we had any further questions or concerns.
