Very nice guy here fixed a glitch in my 2018 iPhone 6 Plus and at my request put in a new battery all for less than my AT&T phone insurance deductible. And you know what they'd tell you if you walked into AT&T or Apple with any kind of problem with an old phone - in chorus now, buy a new one - and that will be $1000. The repair here was $100 and the new battery was $30. Service was fast, friendly and immediate. I walked out of there in less than half an hour with my phone working great again. read more

I gave Kyle at Fix that Mac my beloved dinosaur (2011 Macbook Pro) because I was having some issues with the dual drive and permissions. I had had a different store in Berkeley do the original modification in 2016, but it was immediately apparent that something was done improperly, but not so much so that the computer wouldn't run. Fix that Mac's repair team was so so great. It was pretty obvious that it really challenging, but they kept me up to date about the repair status. The only downside was that it took a little longer than expected (my computer came back 3-4 days later than expected) which put a crunch on my job since I work remote. It's rare when you come to a place for something as complicated and seemingly expensive as a MacBook repair and you're met with an experience that tells otherwise. I walked in with an issue that was pretty much self diagnosed, but didn't have the means to resolving it myself. Once my suspicion was confirmed, they gave me a quick quote and a time frame as to when the job would be completed. It was a few hours and an affordable price (under 100) so I had nothing to complain about. I will say that it sucked that by the time they said they would call me came around no one contacted me, I waited an additional 30mins then I had to call myself to find out it's been ready for quite sometime, but that's honestly minor as I live a few blocks away. My laptop is in beautiful health and ready for work today and that's really all I can ask for. The work completed and price is appreciated. read more

No accountability, professionalism and management. I took my ipad air 2 because of a broken screen. I paid $200 upfront to get the glass and LCD replaced and I handed them an ipad that was already cleaned up because I attempted to repair it myself(did half the job for them). I was told it should take about a week which I thought was a little long considering they are an Apple repair store but oh well. I got busy and 3 weeks later I decided to stop by to pick up the ipad because it should have been done right? I'm sitting there for almost 40 minutes and the girl helping me comes back out with sticky edges from the adhesive which means they just installed the screen because I just got there. She's using her nails to scrape the adhesive off the edges as I wait ackwardly as she finishes. I take it home and I realize I cannot connect via bluetooth. I take it back and tell them what was wrong and they write me up to tell me it should be done in about a day or so. I call 3 days later and a guy answers and says that the part they need has not arrived yet but should be at their store in a couple of days. I ask, "do you guys know when because I have an event where I need to use it and pair it with my drone. He says, "not really, it should be done in a week or less". a week later I call and get the same guy. He says "I'm all done with it but the screen we installed has damaged pixels. If you want it that way I can give it to you today." REALLY??? I said, "Well, have you even tested the blue tooth to see if it works? and he said NO. Well, so your ready to give my ipad back to me with broken pixels and you don't even know if it works?" "So have you even ordered a new screen for me?" He said NO. This is fucking rediculous!!! "Well if you installed the screen already with damaged pixels can you tell me if the blue tooth works at least? he said NO, and I said why not? ...Well, I have a lot on my plate today to get to still and I can try to get to it after those things are done....It takes all about 10 seconds to test a fucking blue tooth ok!? . This is when I knew this guy was just pulling my damn chain. Two weeks later today. It's been well over 1.75 months now for a damn IPAD. I could have gone to a mall booth and got this thing done before I finished my lunch. Today I call again and spoke to a different person who I did not recognize. I told him my problem and asked if it was fixed. He said, "well we have the replacement part here already but I still have to install it" I'm thinking WTF. I should have a special note on my damn ipad because I'm an abused customer at this point. The owner of this store should know that his children for a staff is running this business to the ground. It's so damn annoying that when I called the last few times there was no accountability or apology for what was going on or even a call to keep me posted on what is going on. As far as I'm concerned unless there is a clean sweep of management no one should come here if you need your equipment back right away. This is a non emergency location. Come here if you plan on being a buddhist monk, joining the peace core, go to a long retreat because by the time any of those things are done your equipment should be...unless they forget! read more

Hesitant, but glad I did. I had an old iMac that wouldn't start all the way and wouldn't mount the hard drive. I needed the data from it since it had been in use in my medical practice. Looking at the reviews I would have to admit that I considered somewhere else, but I had used Fix that Mac several years ago, with success, and they are close, so I decided to use them again. I brought in the iMac on a Thursday, which had a broken screen as well, and Michael promised me the next Wednesday. On Monday he called saying it was ready and I brought in an external drive and they copied everything over. I felt the $190 cost was quite reasonable and Micheal was a pleasure to work with. I've been here a few times now. There are many awesome things about Fix That Max; but the best by far is that they never make me feel stupid, and they are always patient and kind. Pricing is disclosed up front and more than fair, and they speak in language I understand about my broken technology. With their new location, still in downtown Concord, parking is much easier. There is a small lot in the back. Because they genuinely take all the time their customers need, it's best not to be in a rush when you go. so i had been messing with my 2015 mac book pro fixing some settings, initially what i thought i had done where some extra some security measures and shut it off after i was done when i went to use it the next day it asked me for a "name" & password instead of just asking for my apple i.d user password. i typed in all the possible passwords, usernames and everything i could think of and i couldn't get in my computer. i called "Fix that mac" in concord to ask if they knew what the issue was or can give me a quote and sure enough i brought it in and the very knowledgeable man "Josh" quickly fixed it in 15 minutes i was in and out the door! the best part was that he HELPED me for free!!!! i never expected to get an issue fixed quickly, kindly, and free. for a business to do this, especially during our pandemic speaks volumes for me! this is my new go to place! i really recommend them! read more

Brought Iphone into get fixed for shattered (my fault) screen. They fixed it and that night while using it the screen shattered. But this time it appeared to be shattered from the inside. Called them up the next day told them what happened and they said to bring it in. Went back and they said they didn't have the black screen. But the Berkeley store does. I was on my way to SF anyway so I said I would stop by there. They called ahead of me and told them what was going on. When I got to the Berkeley store they knew exactly who I was and helped me. Phone was fixed in 15 minutes. Turns out there was s screw loose (no pun intended) which caused the screen to shatter from the inside when I pressed on it. No charge. read more

Took my computer to them twice, all I wanted to do was get final cut working on my computer!! They said I need a software update to upgrade from el captain, so I left the computer, picked it back up, took it home and it still had the same software on the computer el captain 10. Whatever, I have literally no time so I just tried to figure it out myself and I couldn't for over a week, so I called them back and said that it's the same software, I still can't use final cut, and if I bring it in is there any way you guys could get final cut pro to run on my computer? That's all I literally want and Michael assured me that we would make it happen, it would take to short hours to update to Mohave , but 2 hours turned to all day pick up the next day, from being ready in a couple hours to 5 hours w out a call back, having to call back 3 hours later when I should have received it at 2 and called them at 5pm, To find out they can't update the software and can't get final cut pro to work on my computer after all of this bullshit... So I go and pick up my computer right as they close, take it home, and guess what? They put a fucking password on my Mac and now I won't be able to use it all fucking weekend... Can't even get a fucking piece of software to operate on my computer, make me waste all of my fucking time and gas and can't even tell me the goddamn password that they put on the fucking computer! What kind of fucking bullshit is that, and I respect entrepreneurship and small businesses by the way how this was handled was absolute dog shit. Do not, I repeat do not, take your computer to these fucking clowns... On fucking believable that they would actually put a password on somebody else's computer without telling them, on a fucking Friday when they're closed all weekend so I can't even go on it... Had a terrible experience. I gave them 2 full external hard drives to extract data from and they said it would take a few days so I called after 3 days and they told me they weren't finished even though they had told me it wouldn't take long. Okay no problem. After a week, I called again and they gave me the same response. The sad part is the guys seemed like he had forgotten about it and reassured me he would begin the extraction that night and it would be ready the next day. Next days comes, same response..... Really? Now we are going on over 2 weeks. I haven't heard from them, they haven't called me, haven't contacted me in anyway and at this point I think they have stolen my hard drive.... My macbook pro (mid 2012 model) was getting a little slow seeing the beach ball more and more frequently I went in the other day and a really nice employee named Michael helped me out. Free diagnosis... cant beat that. He took a look at it, let me know there was nothing major wrong with it, and just said they only thing he would recommend is a RAM upgrade. Wasnt very expensive to buy the RAM and do it myself so i opted to just do it myself. The service was great and he was very helpful. read more

*BE FOREWARNED!* I was getting a sad cartoon face icon on my iPod 30GB, so I took into this place.. the guy initially told me it was the hard drive, it was making a clicking sound. after a few weeks, i decided to take it back in and let them repair it. they said it'll be ready in about 2-3 days.. the 2nd day i went in to purchase some cables, asked about my iPod, the guy said it'll be ready the next day by noon. i went in after 4pm, he said give him a second (he hadn't done anything by then).. he rushed to swap out the hard drive, it didn't work! he said he'll need more time to troubleshoot (my intentions were to get the iPod repaired and deliver it to a friend in Los Angeles, i was leaving that night!--so much for that!) 2 weeks passed, no one from Fix That Mac had called (how RUDE)!!.. so i decided to give them a call.. over the phone they told me the logic board and hard drive were bad and there's no use repairing it (the cost is too great).. fine, i said, i'll come by to pick up my iPod. I went in to pick up my iPod, and either i was given some SCRAPS of iPod parts, or they let some BLIND guy work on my iPod!!! the iPod i dropped off for repair was in MINT*CONDITION! the iPod they gave back to me was ALL SCRATCHED UP/JACKED UP! NOW, i TRULY feel like they decided to swap out my mint*condition parts to keep for themselves and give me back scraps! PEOPLE, please, if yoU care, scratch your name or write it with a marker onto your products that you drop off at this place, even the internal components!, because they can very easily decide to keep your good parts and turn around and tell you they can't fix your stuff, and give you back some other crap! When my MacBook of 5 years decided to start slowing down to a snail pace at everything I was desperate and worried. Everything that was important to me on a computer was on that MacBook. Years of photos, documents, and especially music. I was so concerned I would lose it all. I went to the Apple store in Walnut Creek to encounter long waits, horrible service, and my computer was worse off than before I took it in. After taking it in it completely died. I'm guessing the point of the service at Apple is just to get you to buy a new computer. Then a friend referred me to Fix That Mac in Concord. This place saved me. It took a bit to get my computer back and it wasn't cheap, but all of my precious personal stuff was saved as well as my computer and it is now faster than ever! Thank you Fix That Mac! Their prices are EXCELLENT, charged me less than half of what I was quoted from another iPhone repair shop in Concord (the other guys "Tech Restore" were rude on the phone, and had quoted me $190! for an in person repair).... I decided to run by Fix That Mac just in case, and they were friendly, did it very quickly (like 15-20 minutes on the spot...no appointment even)...and they happily fixed the problem. They charged me something like $75, and I am one very very happy camper. I'll be back, absolutely without a doubt!! I'd give them 5 stars, but days later I discovered they forgot to put the little screws at the base of the phone back in. (I still need to go in to get them to replace them...don't have time yet) It's a very laid back store, not fancy by any means, but they are willing to help, and even offered to let me bring in my mac for some free lessons on how to use some of the software that I have on it.... I will *never* go to an Apple Genius Bar ever again. These guys at Fix That Mac have saved my ass so many times. Anything you go to Apple to do will take 3 times as long and cost 3 times as much, not to mention have to deal with smug Genius Bar attendants, crowded Apple stores and finding parking at Apple in Walnut Creek. Blegh. I cant remember what I went in here for the first time - it was about 2 years ago - but I do remember that I was really happy with the timing and the price. Most recently, about a month ago, my MacBook Pro wouldnt start. I brought it to the Apple Genius Bar (stupid me) and they said I could either buy a new machine or replace the hard drive, they wouldnt be able to save any of my data, it was going to be a few hundred dollars and take more than a week. I grabbed my laptop and drove over to Fix That Mac. The guy (Max was the guy's name) said he could replace it faster and cheaper, which was awesome, but he also realized that Apple had misdiagnosed my problem. It wasnt a hard drive it was a measly little cable. He fixed it right there, the cost was totally reasonable, and I was on my way. That cable crapped out on me just 3-4 weeks after they replaced it, and I went in again today, and they changed out the cable at no charge. Would Apple do that? No way. I'm an Apple fan, but definitely not a Genius Bar fan. LOVE this place - I dont even live in Concord any more but I'll drive out there for my Apple problems in a heartbeat. You may have to wait a bit sometimes if there are several people in the shop (so be prepared for that just in case), but it's *so* worth it. Go to the book store or Panama Red Coffee Shop (my old haunt) or get food , get your nails done, or just hang out in the park - the place is right in "downtown" Concord. Definitely a household asset for Apple products. I took my barely year old MacBook Pro in the hopes of solving an issue that neither Genius Bar, Geek Squad or local data recovery shops could help me with. My MacBook Pro had an issue where the HD was telling itself it was at max capacity when it wasn't and was only making it through 35% of the startup completion and then flat lined. Genius Bar had no idea what the issue was and defaulted to the 'Oh it's a software problem, let's wipe the computer'. I took it to Geek Squad and after I had paid for the repair work, they called me 2 days later to say it couldn't be done. No one seemed to no what the actual problem was. I called these guys on the recommendation of the Mac Mechanics in WC. Tyler was very helpful and seemed to know exactly what was wrong. Sure enough he discovered the real culprit was a bad HD cable. Not only did I save all my data without having to wipe the computer as everyone else was pushing me to do, I upgraded my RAM and the performance of computer has been better than ever. I'll definitely return to Fix That Mac and will refer others here as well. read more

Follow up: This place lies to customers about the problem within the computer to charge more money. A staff member told me that after "running a diagnostic" on my computer, the SSD was corrupt and they wanted to charge me around $200. Thank god I spoke to apple customer service and took my computer to another apple repair shop because the true issue was a simple cable replacement that cost $15. Don't go to these con artists. DO NOT GO HERE! They completely RIP customers off and the staff are very rude. Not including the one part I needed, they quoted me $185 to "reinstall my operating system" - this is something I can easily do for free at home. BAD SERVICE!!! Don't go here to fix your MAC items!! My bf broke my Ipad a few weeks ago, and we decided to go here to get it fixed because we would have paid $300 to get it fixed at the Apple store. Instead, we only paid $160 in total which was more than all the deals I have seen online and at other places, but was too afraid to try them out and they were just a little farther than this place. They told us that I would be able to pick it up within a week. I waited a MONTH and they were still waiting for their parts to come in. They said the guy that checked in my Ipad and quoted the completion date didn't know that they had ran out of the parts used to fix my Ipad. They DIDN'T even call and tell me. I called them 3 times to ask for a correct date, but they were so inefficient!!! They didn't even compensate me for the bad service or give me a discount for it because they said their price was the cheapest. It IS NOT!!! I have seen cheaper, but I didn't want to drive a little farther for the service. I am not going here ever again even if I have to drive a few more miles to fix my apple products. I had gone to the Apple Store twice with more then 4 hours of waiting time to speak with someone at the Genius Bar. I stopped at this place as I always pass it on my home from work. The customer service guy at the bar was all right, but while the tech was shouting he just cringed and looked bashful instead of telling the tech to shut up and leave the customers alone. I've been wanting to have a new battery replacement for my Ipod for the longest time. Every time I charged it, it used to last 20 minutes and always have the 20% warning that I need to charge it, but I had it charging all day. I knew I needed a new battery and couldn't just buy the part and replace it myself. So I remember there was this place. I have an Ipod Touch, 4th generation, black, 8GB: Apple does the battery replacement, but they charge $79 and you have to ship your ipod and who knows how long you will get it back. Reading what Apple offers for getting your Battery Replacement, saying it takes a week. But I don't feel safe shipping it to places that far. Fix that Mac is a couple miles away from my house (across from the Concord Brandon Theater) I gave it a try. They charge $55 ($35 to get the battery and $20 for labor) for the battery replacement + tax - not bad. Better what Apple charges. I told them my problem and they looked at my Ipod. Said it will take 2-4 business days (but from the 4th of July and was backed up repairing other customers), I knew it will take about a week or so - which it did. They will call you when it is ready. They will show your your old piece (in my part, the old battery) and you can see or they will show you what they did to repair it. Pay up and you can ask them to recycle the old piece if you like. which I did (what will I do with a dead battery?). Also they do Free Diagnostic for your Apple Product. read more

Going to Apple stores or any tech related spots have intimidated me because I don't understand much about computers & it can get super complicating but Tyler and the team were very informative and helped me feel at ease.
