We ate here on Sunday, we had great food all weekend until then. A couple of us had biscuits that were apparently leftover and toasted and fell apart. We had a really nice breakfast at Fixins this morning. It was our first time there and we had recently heard some very nice things about the place from our friends so we had been looking forward to trying them. first off we got a choice of dark roast or medium roast coffee. I chose the dark and it was really good. Especially nice for a 35 degree morning- very unusual for our area. I had the sausage, egg and cheese biscuit. The eggs were so light and fluffy. Really flavorful and pleasantly different from the thin, rubbery eggs we often get locally. My partner had an omelette with cheese, sausage and spinach. He got potatoes with his and he found those very good as well. We also had a chance to peruse the lunch menu which we hope to try soon. The booths were spotless butcher block and the room was bright and cheery. We will definitely be back to Fixins. read more

Lovely morning at Fixins on Oak Island! Diner meets local southern foods and hospitality. Multiple booths, great place to gather with a few others for a quality meal and conversation. I loved the layout because it was open while still feeling private in our booth and wasn't too noisy. They have a larger room to host bigger groups. Easy parking right out front. They serve bald head island coffee, diner mugs and kept the refills coming! Our waitress was engaging and chef Rick came out to say hello. We enjoyed a variety of foods and when asked for small tweaks, they did it without hesitation! Food came out warm, crispy potatoes like promised. Hearty portions and took half my breakfast bowl and biscuit home. Recommendations would be to warm up the blueberry muffin, food to come out hot vs just warm, veggies and meat in the make your own omelette and breakfast bowl were vague/sparse. Would like to see chunks of meat, mushrooms or tomatoes rather than dices or grounds. Would love to come back to try their lunch menu, rumor has it their burger is JUICY! The service is quick, friendly , and work as a team, so you get excellent service. The food, biscuit and gravy, was really good it was smooth and chunky with sausage. I could have had 2 servings. My mom got pancakes and they were probably the worst she's ever had, they were very hard and had pieces of stuff from the grill on them. We got some chicken dumplings to go for my family, my mom checked them and they were super watery. Expected quality southern fixins as the sign said, but felt like we were at an overpriced tourist spot. Booths were dirty, table sticky, mens bathroom was dirty. Workers were friendly but had on dirty shirts. Access for elderly was hindered by employees in walkway. My guy and I brought my parents here for lunch. It was the first time for all of us and we came here because my mom thought it was cute when we rode by. Our server, Cathy, was knowledgeable about the menu and we all decided to get some version of the gourmet blend burger which was really flavorful and I can't wait to go back and see what the other menu items taste like. The burgers came with fries but my mom wanted onion rings which was $1 upcharge. She said the onion rings were delicious, but I will say they are thick and I like the onion part to be thin which is why I wouldn't try them. The fries are crinkle cut. I wanted to try the ranch, but our server forgot I asked I guess and it felt like we were a bother when we asked for it so I just let it go.
