Definitely try the blue plate specials they have each week. This week was chicken fried chicken with green beans and mashed potatoes. You get your choice of dessert or a drink with your meal. we were on a leisurely bike ride and stumbled across the perfect spot for breakfast! We arrived around 10am and it was quite busy, and I assume they are probably really busy earlier since it ia a small, and quaint space. Luckily we were seated in a comfy booth and quickly offered coffee or a beverage (including an offer of iced coffee we love). The "Blue Plate Special" was the way to go! We both had Country fried steak in pepper gravy, biscuits, cheesy potatoes and a corn style veg compliment. The $10 included a beverage or dessert. Since we had coffees, we also got to enjoy homemade strawberry dumpcake (never heard of it, I looked up how to make it). Surprisingly, the Chef came by after breakfast just to say hello! If you're willing to wait a bit for a seat because your timing wasn't perfect, it's worth it. Servers will get to you quickly, and chef will deliver your breakfast to make sure it's exactly what you wanted. Fantastic biscuits and gravy and waffles and eggs and and and..... Delicious food and great service. Love how the Chef moved thru greeting people and even delivered some of the food himself. They have real butter on the table so you know they care about the food. What a gem this cute place is! Came here for breakfast prior to leaving Oak Island and only wish we would have discovered it a few days earlier! The breakfast was amazing with all NC ingredients from the eggs, honey, grits to the coffee. The blue plate special was also equally as good with fried chicken, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, homemade biscuit & dessert to top it off. Chef Rick came out to introduce himself and welcome us to his restaurant which made a lasting impression and our waitress Cathy was wonderful! Breakfast at Fixin's in Oak Island this morning (3-3-24). The build your own omelet was superb! Their fried potatoes have such great flavor. So happy we discovered this place through our local Southport Rotary Club and the Chefs of Brunswick event last month. read more

Went for lunch at 1pm on Sunday. They told me we could not be seated (party of 2). They close at 2 pm. This is no way to run a restaurant. Their customer service is sub par. read more

So good! Drove up from Ocean Isle Beach to try out Fixins breakfast - worth the trip! Yummy pimento cheese on a fluffy biscuit, waffles that are crispy on the outside and light inside- bacon and the rest were tasty. Service was excellent, parking was no issue on a Saturday. read more

We stopped in for breakfast right before leaving the island. There seemed to be somewhat of a wait but not too many people. The lady at the front told us 15 minutes which we thought was a great wait time. We ended up waiting over 45 minutes with a very grumpy 2.5 year old. I wish they had been a little bit more honest with their wait time as we may not have waited with a little kid for that long. The place is rather small so I see how it was hard to get people in and out. I did appreciate that they offered coffee/other drinks while we waited though. Once we were seated, we were waited on promptly and our server was very friendly. I had a delicious pimento cheese omelet and my friends had the chicken and dumplings, kids chicken tenders (which was a HUGE portion by the way which was really nice of them), waffles, and fish basket. All the found looked and tasted great! The chef came out to check on us which I thought was a sweet touch for such a breakfast/lunch place. Despite the wait, we enjoyed ourselves and I'd come back next time I'm on the island. read more

My wife and I had lunch here recently and it was very good. I had the shrimp and grits and they were delicious. I also had a side salad with Italian dressing which was very good. My wife had the turkey wrap and we both liked it. Service was also very good. The breakfast options look great so we'll be back to try these as well. Very good food. The potatoes are amazing. Even just a simple yogurt parfait with granola was probably the best I've ever had. The only negative is that we were sat in the back room when there were some inviting cute booths by the windows available. That was disappointing. The back room could use some cleaning and just an overall cozy touch. It felt like a different restaurant back there. Directly behind our table was a server station with a wet bucket and rag at the bottom. It was disappointing to be sat there when they were so many other inviting options available. Maybe they had to balance out the server sections. Our server, Julie was wonderful - extremely nice and attentive. She checked on us several times and made sure our drinks were filled and coffee cups were refilled. The yummy food and friendliness of the staff will have us coming back and next time we will ask for a booth . read more
