About 7 years ago this movie theater was so bad I never wanted to come back. I booked tickets IN ADVANCE and made sure they were for the right seats AND right time. After arriving I went to my seats and some people were sitting there, so I got an employee, who looked at the tickets and told the people sitting in MY seats that they were here for the wrong showing time, the person in MY seat said "we got these tickets 10 min ago from the guy up front", the employee yelled, "oh f***" and RAN AWAY. I was just a kid so I thought he would be back....NOPE. Me and my friend sat there with our other group of friends just waiting. The movie started and we looked at each other thinking "where is he". We go outside and talk to the manager who said the best she could do is give us "some free popcorn and tickets to a different movie". Thank god my friend's mom was there to advocate for us, giving the woman a good talking to. After all of that I still went back recently for one of my friends, and the place somehow got WORSE. None of the drinks were working, popcorn was nasty, theater was DISGUSTING and broken, the whole place was gross. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO THAT PLACE EVER IN MY LIFE. I now take the 45 minute drive up to Annapolis to watch movies. I'm waiting for the day this place gets shut down FOREVER. read more

This is a small theater. I took my parents and sons to see the Minecraft Movie on a Tuesday morning. We were the only ones there and it was wonderful, especially for my 5 year old son's first visit. Staff was friendly, it was clean, and the seats were very comfortable. I hope this stays open for decades to come! read more

While out East Nick and I went to see Aladdin in 3D. We had planned prior to this vacation we wanted to see it together and realized it was coming out while I would be out there. Nick had gone online and brought the tickets ahead of time. She told me they were roughly 11-12 dollars after tax, which she commented on was really cheap for out there. On the opposite end, snacks at the concession stand were very expensive. Over 3 dollars for a small candy box. Getting the theater and snack experience is becoming a lost love. People just can't spend that kind of money anymore for a relaxing and simply night out. The theater we were in wasn't crazy packed, so that was nice. I did have to prop myself up in the seat a little because the floor slant wasn't enough for me to see over the tops of the row in front of me if I didn't do so. Thankfully there were people sitting in those seats, and they chose to recline their seats which helped. I'd come here again if I was visiting my friend and we wanted to see a movie, but I am a fan of the AMC A-lister thing, and if I was to go to more movies, I would stick with that since it's cheaper and I can go to many more movies. I love movies, so I couldn't afford to go as much as I do if the tickets were 11-12 dollars on the cheap end. read more

Chairs are comfortable, promotions this place runs is fun. They have a chair here and there that doesn't recline; really hoping they'll fix that. read more

The theater could use some improvements. Two seats in my row were broken - mine didn't recline and the seat next to me was stuck in recline mode. The theater shouldn't sell full price tickets for broken seats. You can purchase tickets online (for a fee) but have to print them out at the concession stand or at a tucked away computer. The theater employee was very nice about explaining the procedure but it was just odd. All in all the theater is... fine. It's convenient and local and charges less than the big guys - but keep your expectations grounded. read more

We just did our first visit since March of 2020. We are definitely middle of the road with Covid practices. We are not big on masking because we've been vaccinated but we are more conscious about cleanliness and confined spaces in general. This location is great for social distancing and cleanliness. You can reserve your recliner ahead of time and feel comfortable knowing you're 6+ feet in front of and behind the next row. The seats and theaters look like they've been cleaned extra and people did a good job being distance conscious. They didn't crowd entering/leaving or in the bathrooms. About half the people inside wore masks. We felt safe and will begin to reserve seats and begin normalcy by heading here more often. read more

This is the only theater in the area. I'm not sure how the theater looked and smelled prior to renovations, but I can say that every time I've gone has been a decent experience. This theater does not show movies before Noon. When I go, it's during matinee and my ticket is only $5.50. They have typical snacks, and are in the process of upgrading their food selection. The seats are assigned, as it seems to be the recurring theme nowadays. You can even order your tickets online. I love that! The screens are huge and the sound/picture are good. It's still a very small theater. Big blockbusters do get crowded quickly, so be mindful of that before taking a trip. read more

This is a great movie theater it is small and personal and a family setting I have been here three times already with my son and his friends to watch movies yet it is clean and dry and I will definitely keep coming back again The popcorn is made fresh in front of you they have fountain sodas not bottles or cans and I love the nachos and the super big pretzels they are delicious they also have arcade games not too many but just enough for your child to play a few Someone had made a comment about the smell in a theater this is so not true it is clean and it is even raining today there is no mildew or no smells at all read more

Koodos to the online purchasing and being able to pay with a credit card. The new look that the theater has is great. There is a major flaw why does the theater have to be so damn dirty ya thee are people that act like pigs when they goto the movies at least put you crap in the trash can you have to get up and walk out the trash can is at the door drop it in. The lazy worker it takes 10 min to run through and clean off the seat and sweep up. Let get cleaned up. And how can you run out of Mountain Dew this is very sad can you purchase a few extra boxes to have as back ups. read more

Nice comfy recliner chairs. Assigned seats. Friendly staff. A loyalty program. And, still good ticket prices. Most of the theaters are pretty small so seating can be limited. Some of the projectors have blown/red pixels that can be a little distracting and one screen or projector has a big smudge thing on it that isn't really noticeable during the movie. They schedule showings to start in 10 minute windows so, you get rushes of crowds which can make for tough parking, and long lines at times. But, overall the changes here have been very positive! If I could give this place no stars that would be more deserving. I ordered two tickets for "It Chapter 2" for my almost 17 year old son and his almost 17 year old girlfriend, and they refused to let them in without me watching the movie with them. Even after both me and the girl's mother both verbally consented to them being allowed to watch. They preferred to give me a refund , and they refused to give me the whole refund, robbing me of a $3.00 online service fee. The kids had even purchased their popcorn and drinks. The manager was completely dismissive and insistent on this ridiculous "company wide" policy . This was absolutely ridiculous given both parents were ok with the two kids watching the movie. They ended up going to another theater where our money was good enough to allow them entry. Get real! read more

Dear Apex of Prince Frederick, I know you're the only choice we have within 30 miles. I also understand that you're small and doing the best you can to accommodate the SoMD masses and fit us all into your small space. But I don't understand why you must mop the entire theatre with the same water that has obviously come from the fetid, overflowing toilet. I just sat through "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", and I could have sworn that somewhere between the opening credits and the final combat scene, Dumbledore loosed himself from the silver screen to take a magical dump in the seat next to me. Hagrid may well have spent his "sabbatical" time pissing down the center aisle. At least it smelled that way. The pungent scent of the mop water may be a useful tool if "Surround Smell" ever comes into vogue and we're watching Harry and Voldemort out-wizard one another in a London sewer, but for now, it's just plain stinky. I go here about once a month to see a movie. It's always very clean and the staff there is nice and helpful. I took my son to see avengers endgame last night and left my wallet at home which I realized as I was going to buy snacks. The manager overheard me talking to my son about it and gave us free popcorn. I'm not sure of her name but whoever you are you made our night so much better. I recently went to see the Lion King. I was pleasantly surprised. While waiting for my party to show up I accidentally spilled my bucket of popcorn. I felt horrible but the young person came running over to clean up my mess and made me feel much better and replaced my popcorn. The theater was clean and OMG the reclining seats. The only movie theater in town ... and it shows. Walking into the lobby prepares one for what to expect. Everything, from the carpeting to the counters, appears dirty and depressing. The last time anything was updated is best guessed by the nearly 15-year-old on-screen welcome sequence. The seats are old, broken, and painful on even the youngest backs. The theater floors are slick and gross, even after mopping. And what is that smell?! I'd rather not know. read more

Went here for a movie. Popcorn was okay. A little over done and kind of stale. Bathrooms relatively clean. The theatre itself was mostly clean but the cup holders were gross. This theatre may not be the best or the most flashy, but it is hands down the best place to see a movie in southern Maryland. I'll start by saying that they have updated. They do in fact accept cards now, and their screens are well taken care of. The seats aren't anything special but they don't distract you from the movie so that is pretty sweet, right? Right. Next up, is the bad. All I can really say to the negative is that it is pretty far away. 40 minutes, but my other option is AMC Leows, and that is a disease.... so please, if you value anything at all about your life do not visit that infernal hole of a theatre. I wouldn't go to AMC Leows again even if it were the last theatre on earth, or even the last building to take refuge in.... and anyway, back to Apex. Their website is kinda dinky, but short and to the point. So I like it all the same. read more

The recent sale to Flagship Cinemas and the subsequent renovation are a much needed shot in the arm for this small theater. For $5.50 you can get into a matinee, and any other time the prices are $7/$9. The new recliner seats are very nice, especially for the price. The soda machines are appreciated- make your own soda flavor by mixing and matching. The theater leans heavily on kids films and blockbusters to service the local family market. They have 3D movies and IMAX so the film experience is on par with the more expensive theater chains. Overall a great place to take the kids to the latest Disney film without breaking the bank or to kill a rainy afternoon. read more

This place got one star because no stars is not an option. In the summer time it is always hot in the theaters...about 90 degrees and it smells like piss all year long. Not stadium seating and the screens them selves are old and worn. With this quality you should just save the dough and wait for the DVD. You'd probably get a better viewing experience that way anyways. read more

Very impressed with the makeover & love the seating!! I love the kids pack munchies - everything they need in one easy container at a reasonable price. It's a great treat for when the little ones come to visit. By the time we would drive all the way to Annapolis, the kids would be asleep in the car. Hot, stuffy, smelly and the floor was so slippery with butter that it was impossible to walk to our seats without holding on to the seats on either side of us. Saw at least 4 people slip and eat it in the first 15 minutes we were there. That's a personal injury lawsuit waiting to happen. read more
