Dang so many bad reviews! So, I found this when I was looking for something new to try. My friend and I went and loved it. She got some kind of loaded fries and they were handcut. I stole one and it was so good. I got the chicken mofongo. It was huge and on a bed of lettuce with fresh tomatoes. It was delicious, but I usually opt for the cream sauce. This one had orange, but was still good. Got the steak sandwich too. Also yummy. Definitely coming back. read more

I stopped here on my way to work. I've been looking for a good Latin restaurant hard to find. Thought this place would be "it". I thought wrong. Anyhoo. I stopped in and ordered white rice, bean and roast pork. Terrible!!!!!! No flavor. Roast pork was reheated from like days ago. Terrible terrible terrible. They should be ashamed. Bathroom stank and was almost like an abandoned buildings bathroom. Gross. I will never come here again. Oh oh oh and I waited an hr for that garbage. read more

I want to start off and say The women working there is a sweet heart very nice. The food wasn't bad either not the best I had but not horrible. My experience quickly went down hill when I went to use the bathroom. OMG so dirty!!! It was dirty on a whole other level. The floors ,walls ,sink and toilet. After seeing how dirty the bathroom was I started to think how dirty the kitchen must be and quickly felt sick to my stomach and threw away my food and left. Go there!!! GO NOW!!! Great food. Great Prices. Friendly staff. Quaint environment. I was fortunate enough to be shown the inside of the kitchen before they opened and was pleasantly surprised to see a large old school roasting oven with rotating spits for the meat. Ovens like that tend to lock in and compound flavor like a cast iron pan. For me that's a good sign, indicating that the food will only get better over time. As far as i can tell, all the food is fresh and made in house. Very clean, vibrant flavors. I have only had the opportunity to try a few things so far, but have been extremely satisfied with what i did. Just simple and delicious. Though i can't factually say that this is a family owned and operated business, i get the strong impression that it is. Don't be hungry when you order from here. Doesn't matter if it's take out or eat in the wait time is no less than 45 minutes. I have waiting an hour for some chicken with rice and beans which flavor was awful. The tacos aren't bad but a sloppy mess. It surprises me that the service is so bad because they also own a flama truck on union blvd and you have to have fast service with that style serving. Haven't been there to find out. My suggestion to them is to pick up the speed when serving hungry customers or they will never come back. I haven't been back in over a year for that reason. Wellllll, that was disappointing. Spolier alert: When walked in the small dinette-style spot, we didn't immediately notice that all 4 seated tables had NO FOOD. So we order...a young girl of maybe 12 took longer than 2 minutes to acknowledge we were standing there. She clumsily took our order with very little enthusiasm. Hey, she's 12. Another guy walked by twice without a word. We request tostones and a pernil taco, and beans, rice and chicken. Twenty minutes pass....the atmosphere is awful. This lame kind of hip hop instrumental kept playing. We watched one table's food come slowly in parts. Then a woman asked me what our order was.....we change from eating in to getting it to go. We begin to mingle with the other waiting diners. One family came from Reading because the food is so good....too bad their apps took 45 minutes. Maybe I'll get to share in this knowledge. Another 10 minutes. The vacant tables have not yet been cleared. There is zero service on the floor. Employees or family members keep appearing from the back. But where is our food?! Five more minutes. The lone gentleman sitting at a table (before we had arrived) gets a plate! I'm happy for him. The corner table of 6 has also gotten their food now. That leaves 1 table ahead of us.... I begin thinking, this place is a candidate for Chef Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. Oh! The 4th table (2 diners) FINALLY have food! We have now been waiting for 40 minutes. Total wait time: over 45 minutes! My bf did not find the rice, beans, and chicken that good (hard rice, no flavor). The taco was fairly good, but there's another spot nearby that's better and faster. Tostones were good and fresh. The food must be super bad in Reading, lol. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! There is so much wrong with this place. Where to even begin...oh yeah let me start with the 8 year old taking me order. Disturbing enough. I didn't see an adult for 20 minutes after I placed my take out order. 2 other couples came in at the same time as I did. 2 adults finally came out (20 minutes later) and that is when they started cooking our orders. Phone ringing off the hook the entire time in there and nobody even acknowledging it. Dirty plates on at least 3 tables. I waited 50 minutes for my order-3 tacos, rice n beans..not a thank you I'm sorry it took so long nothing. Just seemed to be the way they do things. The food was mediocre definetly not worth waiting that long for. The food is OLD and FROZEN. No taste what so ever. How are you a Spanish place and not even put Adobo on your food? Anyways, Yuca is frozen and old. Rice is so dry and undercooked it is not edible. Meat is old and dried up, taste like 3 day old meat. Empanadas have no flavor,tacos are Greasy and no flavor, beans have no flavor. Pay no attention to the poor reviews from the snobby customers. My family and I have dined here on several occasions and have really enjoyed each experience. The staff are always pleasant, and the food is worth the wait (Sometimes, one must exert patience while waiting for quality cooking). As for the comments about the staff being racist, that is a load of crap. My family is Caucasian and is always treated with the utmost respect and care at this establishment. The people who wrote the previous reviews about discrimination at this restaurant need to get over themselves. Don't eat at this restaurant! I have never been treated with such utter contempt in my life. While ordering my food, two Hispanic males walked in and started ordering their food over me. The checker stopped taking my order to take theirs. I placed my order finally. While waiting for my order, a couple of sandwiches, 3 other patrons came in, placed orders, received their food, and left. They were all Hispanic. After waiting an hour I went to the unattended counter and rang the bell. Having already paid and not received food I asked for a refund. The girl didn't respond, but retreated to the kitchen to tell the cook. She yelled out the window and asked what I had ordered. I told her but informed her I no longer wanted the food only a refund. She ignored me and brought the food anyway. She refused to give a refund and shoved the food bag into my hands, and turned to walk away. I was left with the sense that my patronage was unwanted because I was the wrong ethnicity. I will never go there again, and gladly discourage anyone else from patronizing this establishment. The food here was AMAZING! I grabbed a quick lunch to go (empanadas and a taco) and they were both insanely delicious and fresh. I sat and waited about 10 min. Me and my boyfriend were craving Cuban sandwiches. Being new to the area, we decided to give this place a shot. All I can say is...Ewwww! The bread was the best part of these sandwiches. If we hadn't been so hungry, we would definitely not have noshed these down. I have had excellent Cuban sandwiches before, and these weren't even filled with the right stuff. An odd assortment of something that looked liked pepperoni, ham, and some other unidentifiable chopped meat, topped with mayonnaise, some kind of cheap Velveeta tasting cheese, and our requested lettuce and tomatoes. They took forever to fill our order, and the grease had soaked the bag by the time we got home.
