Bahama Breeze: Please Don't Make Me Say Goodbye Yet I'm back AGAIN because apparently I'm trying to get my Bahama Breeze fix before the doors close. Since we don't have this restaurant in the DC area anymore, every visit feels like a little tropical field trip. First of all, HAPPY HOUR! The $5 drinks--even the rail drinks--were actually GOOD. And at $5, I'm not asking questions. I'm just ordering another one. For round one, I tried the Spinach Dip, which was creamy, flavorful, and perfect for sharing--or keeping all to myself. I came back for another visit because apparently I had unfinished business. This time I ordered the Jerk Shrimp Pasta with added chicken. Unfortunately, this one wasn't my favorite. The flavor just wasn't giving what I needed it to give. BUT the Grilled Mahi Mahi Tacos? Now THESE understood the assignment. Flavorful, satisfying, and easily the highlight of that visit. I skipped dessert both times because apparently I have limits. I'm genuinely sad that Bahama Breeze will be closing soon, BUT I'm also intrigued by the possibility of a rebrand. So I'm choosing to see this as a "to be continued" instead of a goodbye. Until then, I'll be over here making my final Bahama Breeze memories one $5 happy-hour drink at a time. read more

We needed a good meal after a long evening at Disney's Animal Kingdom and BB was one of the few restaurants open late! The menu was plentiful and they had a good variety for any palate. Bahama Breeze got its start here in Orlando, Florida back in 1996 and overall, it was a successful chain for Darden (the parent company). The concept was a Caribbean inspired menu and Bahama Breeze has always been a good time. This particular location offered friendly service and I always had a good time whenever I was here. First and foremost, our waiter Joe made my entire day. I visited with my sisters and my 2 nieces. He was lively, spirited, engaging, complimentary, and had such a great vibe it was contagious. He really brought my spirits up. He's a masterclass for how to treat people like you would like to be treated. That being said, I love the decor and how clean everything was. My neices both hot strawberry daiquiris - kid appropriate, of course the LOVED them I got a new fish, the Rasta Pasta which was heaven. Perfect blend of flavor and spice, the shrimp was so fresh, nothing overcooked, snd Joe even grated fresh parmesan cheese over it to my satisfaction. One sister got the coconut shrimp tacos, which she absolutely loved along with extra crispy french fries which I thought were very, very tasty. My one niece got chicken tenders, which I did not try, but the other one got the coconut shrimp which she said were delicious. My other sister enjoyed a burger which she said was fantastic. Our drinks never went more than half empty, Joe was there to fill them and overall it was such an amazing afternoon. It makes me very sad that this franchise will be closing their doors at the end of the year. Since there no more locations at home, this is always a must when we see one. I really enjoy this restaurant and the great food and service they have. We started off with the crab and cheese dip. This was amazing and full of tender crab. Putting the lemon on the chips made the dip even better. Our entrees were the paella and the coconut shrimp tacos. The paella had shrimp, scallops, mussels and crab meat along with spices and seasoned rice. This dish alone is a game changer. It has an abundance of seafood so be ready. This is one of my favorite "got to go" places when I am in Florida. Yes, it is a chain, but they have great food and fantastic service. I have dined here several times now, and this place has consistently had 5-star service. On my most recent visit, I ordered the salmon, and the server mentioned right away that many people find it spicy. I was very grateful for this information, as I don't do spicy, and he suggested that the sauce be on the side. He was right, and it saved my meal! Chose Bahama Breeze for our anniversary dinner with our party of 5. We've been here before when vacationing in Orlando & had a wonderful experience. This time, not so much. We arrived on time for our 6:30pm reservation. There were few other tables occupied. Host & hostess were kind & professional, seated us right away. We waited over 15 minutes before someone finally came by & asked if we'd been helped. We told her no & she was very apologetic, took our drink order, & said she'd find our server. Our server she found had been sitting over by the bar, literally doing nothing. Came over, seemed put out to be doing her job. We placed our food order & it came out a short while later. Everyone's food arrived as ordered except my husband's. Wrong order & wrong size, as he ordered the light portion size. He told the person who put the plate in front of him. The man stated he'd let our server know. Everyone else at the table was half way done eating, and our server still had not come to check on us. She was again sitting down by the bar. So we flagged down another server who went & got our server. She came over basically tried to blame it on my husband, stating he ordered what she put in for. There were 4 other people at our table who heard him order his food. Now she really has an attitude. This woman basically didn't want to serve our table at all! I made reservations for 10 through the Google maps app. My party arrived shortly before our reserved time and we waited about 10 minutes to be seated. The place was packed but we were soon accommodated and serviced. Our servers were fantastic, very accommodating, sweet, kind and likeable. Unfortunately I can only recall one of the ladies names, Fatima but they were both phenomenal. This was our first time visiting this particular location, but we're delighted to see that the place was very clean and nicely decorated. Anytime I go to Bahama Breeze it always a kick back relaxing vibe. Light are dim and when I come here there are two things I have to get which is the signature Drinks and the Jamaican jerk wings! The drinks are always a good time, the pina coladas in the pineapple is a whole mood with a order of jerk wings and I'm set! Of course this visit I only got a picture of the wings. The kids got the tenders and Mac and cheese which were perfectly cooked the Mac and cheese was creamy. Also they both got a side of fruit and it also had mango sorbet with it and it looked yummy. First night in Orlando, after a long day of traveling, and we ended up at Bahama Breeze for dinner. Walking into Bahama Breeze there is definitely a tropical atmosphere, obviously playing on the name. The restaurant didn't appear too busy, but had continuous parties coming in to dine, which made me question the wait time. We had a party of six and were told it would be 5-6 minutes since we didn't have a preference for inside or outside dining. Well 5-6 minutes, not so quickly, turned into 30+. We finally got to our table only to not be greeted by any server. Little to say our experience thus far has not been great. This experience only continued as once we were able to finally order, the server mentioned a couple of times that our food would be out "soon". I finally asked for a definition of soon and she felt like I was getting an attitude with her. When we were able to finally eat the food was delicious. Just had a very awkward conversation with a server about hand sanitizer. A tiny purse size bottle of hand sanitizer (from Trader Joe's) was on the table and she noticed it. She asked me the scent because she said it was nice. I told her "it says lavender". She took our order and everything seemed fine. Minutes later she came back and squatted down near me and said "i have something to tell you". I was like what is it? I thought she as going to tell me that what I ordered was not available or something related to the food order, but she told me that the kitchen manager was allergic to lavender and asked me not to use it in their restroom. I was speechless and then hesitantly said "ok". She even asked if I could not use it anymore. I thought the encounter was extremely weird and awkward over hand sanitizer. For context- the scent wasn't strong or overly fragrant (as compared to BBW hand sanitizer) and who ask for someone not to use something in a restroom on behalf of someone else? I would understand if I had a bottle of pure lavender oil on the table and was spraying it all over my body. But I thought it was a rude request. T Blue, our server was excellent, she took her time and helped us through the menu for it was our first time there. When in FL I always visit, the food was delicious and the drinks made to order, the Mojitos always have pure cane sugar which is a must. My kids all five and under tested the appetizers with no complaints prior to their meal, we made it by happy hour which was a coincidence. I do always love this place. I think it's the staff that is so accommodating. I have been to other Bahama breeze but the Kissimmee location is my favorite hands down. Plus the location and restrooms are usually clean unless they get a busy hour but even then they are pretty much on top of it. Food is always great.
